  1. Very nice car! I sat in belfasts grey 300h - stunning car! Looks lovely on the road
  2. Class, that's superb mileage - wonder if some of the AD engine problems are down to UK fuel
  3. I havent had my DPF removed but: Does it effect the emissions for MOT? - No - As far as I know the dpf is gutted out so it will still be there if the MOT tester checks (which it isnt a requirement as yet AFAIK) Does it improve performance/mpg? - not sure about performance, but you should be an increase in mpg due to the car not regenerating Does it damage the car in any way? - No, definately not - all the emulator does is emulate a healthy working D-CAT system, its not like the cars ECU is changed in any way - the dpf will be gutted out, but chances are its already scrap if you are going down the road of DPF removal. If you ever decided to get a DPF fitted down the line, all that would need to be done is remove the emulator from the car, disconnect the battery (to clear information stored the ECU) and follow lexus service procedures with regards to fitting the new DPF (can be found on ebay or lexus website, think access is like 3 euro per hour). Do I have to take the car to a specialist? - definately, you will need to find someone who has done this before and knows what they are at. Cheers
  4. DPF removal is entirely possible, the only problem is that the denso ecu on the IS cannot be cracked, so tuners get round this by fitting an emulator. I have checked with a local tuner and they have done lots without any problems. Matt is your car burning much oil by any chance? £2,000 for a new dpf is probably lexus prices, although you can buy new OE DPF's for the IS220d for under £500 and id say for a couple of hundred quid for fitting you would be sorted. So its not the end of the world, although a £700 bill isnt pleasant either. That said if the car is healthy, low ash oil and branded diesel is used along with a good revving on a motorway once a week, it really shouldnt give any bother tbh.
  5. It was an approved used lexus but the only lexus stamp in the book was the service they done before delivery! All stamps from new where from an independant garage. FSH is fine from any garage - I'd check for any dried coolant from the overflow pipe, if so get it booked in. Lexus were great, couldn't complain with the service. What sort of mileage is on yours? I know what you mean, it can be laggy away from the mark - 535d is some job! Nice car!
  6. Yea they are a big heavy car with only 177bhp, but they are far from gutless IMO, mine was very laggy before the engine replacement but it goes very well IMO 3rd gear upwards once you get used to the gearing. I haven't driven any of newer BMW diesels but I hear they are superb, but if they are anything like VAG diesels they give a big rush at once so can feel quicker than what they are.
  7. Hi, What's people's opinions of the power of their 2.2 diesel? I had my engine replaced about 1,000 miles ago and the car goes like stink at the minute - 3rd gear upwards is awesome when giving it some - I'm sure it would keep up rightly with a 320d, 170 Passat etc..anyone any experiences of how it compares to other cars?
  8. Hi, Just having a look at some parts prices - £480 for two rear shocks for an IS220d - most parts can be got in the aftermarket cheap enough, but why is this part so expensive - the only people that supply them in the aftermarket are euro car parts £150 per shock with discount. Has anyone had to replace shocks on a mk2 IS before? Cheers
  9. Try phoning the dealer in ipswitch! Failing that try sending a nice email to Lexus UK, they should reply within a few days. Failing that I would be contacting the dealer you bought the car from, its not fit for purpose then!
  10. Sounds crazy to me, I'd phone lexus customer services ASAP. Where is the next nearest lexus dealer to you? I wouldn't hold out much hope with the RAC warranty :o(
  11. Also - from the AD out of warranty guidelines 1) Prior Approval is not necessary if the claim is within the period of coverage, i.e. 7 years111,846 miles - I may be wrong but that tells me that its at the discretion of the dealer
  12. @mep - I wouldn't feel the laughing stock if I were you - like any car they all give bother regardless of make, VAG cars have some serious faults (as much as I like them) 2.0 tdi oil pump failures, VOSA injector recalls - 2.0T GTi timing chain failures on mk6 golfs - but it wouldn't put me off one - they may get cheap servicing but they also have a timing belt and water pump every 4yrs/60k which is big enough money, which the 220d doesn't have - taking that into account it all evens out over a longish ownership period IMO
  13. Honestly if you read the 'out of warranty engine guidelines' it says the car must have been reasonably maintained - missing one service would still be fine, The lack of lexus stamps doesn't matter, mine has 4 independent garage stamps and 1 lexus! - I would honestly fill out the contact lexus webpage form, they will get back to you within a few days
  14. How long do you have it from the independent garage? I would try calling into lexus and see what they say, it shouldn't matter at all where it was bought, fact is Toyota extended the warranty to 7yrs 111k on 1AD (2.0 D4D) and 2AD(2.2D4D - what you have) and you have a full service history so I'd bet it would be straightforward. Keep me informed.
  15. I asked on passionford of all places lol there are a few Toyota mechanics on there, yes it's a combined part.
  16. I thought it might be useful to have a pinned thread where people could post up parts availablity. For example stuff on offer from Toyota/lexus dealers, ebay etc - I have a screen dump from blueprint listing all the parts they provide for the IS220d and euro car parts etc. I thought that this could be useful for members needing parts. Does this sound like a good idea?
  17. Google 'out of warranty ad engine guidelines' your car falls within age, miles and service history so I don't see why they wouldn't replace it. I'd advice contacting lexus
  18. My car is was an approved used lexus, full history but only one lexus stamp (when it was serviced before I bought it) - I reckon you are sorted buddy - your car is within the age and I'm assuming you are under 112k? What miles have you on her? It will be like a different car when you get it back, mine has been hitting 48-51mpg on longer runs with the new engine!
  19. Mine also appeared to be using a bit of oil towards the end as well - it seemed to be about a 1/3 down the dipstick over 1,000 miles or so, it's a bloody nightmare to read tho!
  20. Hate to be the bearer of bad news lads, I was the original poster, I left the car into lexus for inspection shortly after I posted that and got a new engine fitted under warranty last week - that said is your coolant on the max or slightly over when cold? it could be just chucking the excess out - hope that's the case, let me know how you both get on! Best Wishes
  21. Does anyone know if these are combined together? i.e they are one part? Cheers
  22. I try not to worry about it, just feed the car good branded diesel, only use low ash oil and drive it a good revving once a week and it shouldnt give any bother IMO.
