  1. Yes, I have tried to use a screwdriver in the lock but the little bit in the latch does not lock and just comes back - Its almost like a spring pulls it back. Will check for fuse, but though it was part of the central locking and I have no issue with my doors.
  2. Hi Guys, hope everyone,s well! Have a problem with my boot, it won't close :( Was loading up with shopping, then boot won't close. Checked and there is nothing in the way of the latch but it keeps bouncing back and not locking on the boot floor loop. Tried taking my key to manually turn the latch but it keeps coming back and won't hold. Remote or internal boot release button does nothing, googled but can only find other complaining about Boot won't open so not much about my situation where boot won't close. Can anyone help please as I need a fix asap - Car is located in Central London. Thank you.
  3. I had to replace mine and found one for £10 from a breaker. Just search Lexus IS breaking in EBay, then email each seller requesting the part. Some will ask you for picture which you already have. Good luck, but don't pay for the listed item on Amazon 😫
  4. You wont notice the difference straight away as its meant to be noticed after prolonged use as its clears away and maintains a clean engine. They spend thousands on research and analysis so must be true otherwise they would be in a lot of trouble. I have always V-Power since the last time I was on a topic about supermarket petrol and that was 2 years ago. My car drives and feels superb almost like a electric car while stationary...Pure silence! - Keep using V-Power, will only cost £1-3 more per fill but worth it.
  5. I have been using a kit off Ebay which cost me £30 and has lasted 4 years now and still going strong. At first I paid £80 for a Kit as I did not want to go cheap but had faults after faults. My kits is 55w with DC chip- http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/55W-HID-Xenon-Conversion-KIT-Headlights-Canbus-FAST-Ballast-H1-H4-H7-H11-9006-/302083869044?var=&hash=item46559a0974:m:mr5okcl-vmbdpnvE1cEr_tg I my opinion the manufacturer is always based in China then UK based companies put their stamp on it to make more money and sound like they are the best but in reality they are the same You can also try this site which has excellent feedback - http://www.hids4u.co.uk/hidkits.php?car=14217 HID 4 U is expensive - Madasahatter's asaics chip German kit is also good and has good feedback. I would recommend Ebay kit, as if something goes wrong they always provide replacement and does not break the bank - you can then see if you like it.
  6. Don't sell the car :( You will find that it is still equipped with some of the best features other cars don't have or are added extra ££ Do you have the MultiMedia Mark Levison?
  7. Denso all the way. 22" Drivers and 20" Passenger. Tried Bosch and in the bin after two weeks.
  8. We've covered this before :) My car has never been failed MOT for the HID kit. As we have projectors the glare to incoming cars is nothing standard housing. Plus the beam pattern is very low anyway. Well I have not had any problems past 4 years and I have better visual and safety.
  9. I have the same issue with the headlight and have the SE version like you. Having owned my car for 4 years I have opted for HID conversion kit which took me 20mins to install and has dramatically improved the light out put. your right it's unbelievable what Lexus have done with the light output. Also I find the bean is too low. Many other cars in the road look so much better. Also why go for H11 bulb....that's normally used for fogs.. other than that the car is amazing to drive and looks good Enjoy
  10. Ops, sorry for Wilko link didn't realise Tesco was 1L that's a bargain. They don't have it online or the London store.
  11. Wilko have it for £2 a bottle even better if you want to stock up: http://www.wilko.com/car-care-products/redex-petrol-injector-fuel-system-cleaner-250ml/invt/0133791
  12. I have used a company called engine carbon clean for past 3 years. They come and give my car a 30min service which is adding Hydrogen through the air inlet and then revving the car every 5 mins while running. They have website and come out to you...this is not the same as Terraclean which use so much chemicals. There is a thread somewhere on LOC about Carborn clean, mention LOC and get the service for £75 i can really see the crap coming out of the exhaust and also feel the difference instantly. My car drives and idles so smooth. also like Normski I use the archoil at every fill. Worth the extra pence and keeps the engine squeeky clean.
  13. Thank guy just what I was looking for... do agree with John that the original one with the push thing in the centre are easy to use and replace. They keep breaking and garage do realise how expensive they are. £1.98 per clip Lexus. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B00YU82HE0/ref=mp_s_a_1_11?ie=UTF8&qid=1478975452&sr=8-11&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=lexus+engine+clips
  14. Ahmed I had similar issue with residue but this was over in just over two weeks. The grinding noise your talking about could be the pads wearing in. I would take it back to the garage you fitted it and ask them to look at it for you, before you buy form Lexus Bham EBay.. By the way when I need original parts I always call the Bham Lexus, they are cheaper and provide free postage to London. When you call the parts dept ask for Jo she is excellent.
  15. They supplied the unit and fitted it. They specialise in alternators and starter motors. It's a refurbished Denso unit with 12 months parts and labour
  16. I think its the space thats so tight and also there is a bolt which you have to work blind as is on the manifold. Crap I completely forgot to mention to replace they belt as I don't believe they did - Was to excited to getting the car in and out. Should be alright thou as if it was in bad condition they would have told me. They gave me print out report for Battery Test, Alternator Test which was charging at 13.9v.
  17. All sorted after a £330 bill. Alternator required 2 hours of labor and now I have a new unit with 12 months warranty. Anyone looking for a for a decent garage with nice service then Kwik Start in Barking Essex is a good place to visit. They do all electrical work and rotating machinery in a very clean environment at reasonable prices. Thanks all.
  18. I got blueprint water pump, when I inspected it was the original Toyota which is as etched out. Blueprint will be very good and similar to OEM
  19. Thanks Mada. Might just give everything a miss and just hand the car over to garage. Maybe that's why I was getting burning smell. When I put this thread up with burning smell was about a month ago. So sounds like alternator was playing up, then all was good (2-3 weeks) and now dead. That's why wanted to check for loose connections. have a big family trip in December so money's a bit tight at the moment..:(
  20. Thank you. I was planning to charge the battery on main and then inspect all the cables from the alternator to the battery and all the fuses today before I take the car to garage and pay the bills. AA guy didn't really check the alternator he just said is definitely that. By chance could it be a faulty fuse or corroded cables? Is there a fuse as such and can I see a broken wire like normal fuses?
  21. Anyone know how I can access the boot of the car as the battery is dead! I have some tools in there which won't come out of the centre rear armrests
  22. Thanks Madasahatter. Will be phoning around Monday as need to be on the road by next weekend. Possible need a new battery aswell as current one is completely dead due to the alternator. However only had it just over 2 years so might phone Lexus to see what they say as I got it from the dealer. Maybe they give me new one.
  23. Hi guys. Okay so my problem with burning smell was only fixed temporarily and last night I was rescued by the AA. While driving I lost all power and battery sign came on. Opened the bonnet and that burning smell was there. Turns out it was the alternator gone and short circuiting. AA guy used 2 new batteries from his van so that I could drive home about 2 miles from where I broke down. Anyone ever had alternator replaced? What's cost am I looking at :( Should I go Lexus as independent garage which is open today says £400 for part non-Lexus and £90 for Labour :(
  24. Wow the noise is not like the noise on the video. Its more like whistling or churping while car is slowly rolling but stops when I press the brakes. I had all pads on all corners replaced say in August, I also had a rear caliper changed this time round. I dont have the shims and this time by mechanic did not stick on the padding which I noticed on my last break pads. I am using Pagid pads which I think has a lot of dust so might try mintex next time round. Anyone know the part numbers for the front and rear shims?
