  1. Hi All, hope everyone is keeping safe and well. I had my car check VGC light come on so done a quick read and it came back with P0172 & P0175. This happened to me about 6 months ago so I took the car for a free exhaust check to see if there was a leak and in fact there was 3 holes near the middle CAT section. ATS did not have any exhaust is stock so I had it welded at a local place. Ran the check and nothing came back and I drove normal. Now after 6 months it is back by I don’t notice any noise from exhaust. I took the MAF sensor off and have it a good clean, and the scan came back as normal and the VGV lights have gone. I know however it may come back. Now question is do I change the middle part of the exhaust as I know it has welds, with a second hand one from breakers? Do I change the Oxygen sensor which is near one of the welds? The reading said it’s to do with running too rich. I love my car and don’t want to part with it, but as it is a 2006 model maybe I need to change a few things now. Any recommendations for exhausts, sensors with part numbers or similar issues that have been resolved would be great. Thank you in advance.
  2. I took my car to ATS for free exhaust check where they found the holes in the exhaust. As they only do new exhaust, I took the car to independent garage and had the holes welded. Book yourself a free exhaust check. Good luck.
  3. Thank you @ahmed24 will give it a go this week when the weather is a little bit better.
  4. Thank you for the response. I will have to open the door card and inspect further. Found a replacement handle on EBay just in case it needs replacing. Hope it is not a hard job, any tips or points I need to look out for like hidden clips or screws. FullSizeRender.mov
  5. Yup, that was my issue and only realised when the holes became worse over the years.
  6. Hi All, I know everyone will be busy watching the England game, however any help will be much appreciated. My front passenger door exterior handle is loose as you can see from the picture. The central locking works fine. Sometimes the door handle does not work, so you have to push it in and the hard pull out and remains loose. Any ideas where I should start to fix this? Is it a new handle or has something come loose inside.
  7. Hi, I did not find a definite answer to why the noise was coming and just lived with it for over four years. However recently I had blowing noise which was quite loud and had the car on a ramp. Turned out I had three holes in the exhaust. Paid £90 to get them welded and also took the heat shields off. Now I have no noise and also some rattling I used to get which I always thought was my brake pads is also gone so I am assuming the heat shield made the noise. It is unnecessary to have them on so taking them off made it less noisy. Check your exhaust as also mentioned by another member as the humming could be there as was with mine. Good Luck!
  8. Hi, I use an independent Lexus Technician who used to work for Lexus Woodford but set-up his own place in Hainault. He has been looking after my Lexus IS250 for the past 8 years and is very reliable, affordable and offers an appointment based system, so only works on your car. In fact I am booked in next week for service, pad all round and rear brake discs. I picked up the parts off ECP (Ebay) as they had 20% off plus the prices are a lot cheaper that their own website. The labour is £140 Give him a call if you like and find out what he says. Name: Dan Contact: 07878 018 732 Say Ishaq recommended you via Lexus Club as he promised to give us members a discount. Good luck
  9. Ahh, I think my IS250 also needs a quick tune up as I have noticed that when starting up the car it is very sluggish and even drops the Rev so low that the car stalls - I have an automatic so embarrassing with the Mrs in the passenger seat. I am thinking it is carbon build up, but will take it on the motorway this weekend and see what happens. Second will disconnect the battery to reset Ecu. Any other recommendation? Shall I take to a garage to have it scanned for diagnosis.
  10. I thought I would give this a try and wow what a result! Super easy, cheap all you do is wipe to clean the lens and then use another wipe to protect. Armor All Headlight Restorer Kit Containing 2 Cleaning Wipes & 1 Protectant Wipe https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07M8GM3D9/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_anMeFbTRADK6B My headlight were really bad but now has a new life and it has been 6 months already and seems like will last a long time. trust me, give it a go at only £10
  11. It’s £60 for first car then £30 for every other car so worth getting two or three done at same time: Green Engine Carbon Clean Lee - 07504 036807
  12. I had my car carbon cleaned every year and can say that my car runs very smooth and very responsive. For £60 it’s worth doing as the guy comes to you and take 30 mins. You can see all the black smoke coming out as he revs the engine every 10mins. when I am idling there is no shake and feels like the engine of off. I love it!
  13. I do the Carbon Clean, every year as part of my service and it has helped me big time. I notice the car much smoother. Google carbon clean to see if you have anyone in your area. Takes 30 minutes, I pay £60 (second car £30) so its worth it.
  14. You have to choose Lexus US, to find the correct version for the IS250. I think they come from Germany, but very well packed and come with instructions.
  15. I've had Climair on my IS250 for the past 4 years and honestly had no issues. They fit perfect and no noise or movement. I did look at Heko but could only find the fronts and no rears, also some others are the sticky ones. Climair just slide in and has two clips on the side, installation took me 20 minutes for the whole car.
  16. I have been using SAVA all round which is owned by Goodyear. Cost me £53 per tyre from HiQ including fitting Ratings are C (fuel), A (wet) and noise is 66dB - These tyres are excellent in my opinon and has same thread pattern as the Goodyear but without the price tag, On wet the handling is mind blowing, grips very well.
  17. Hi Newbie, is there a particular engine flush you would recommend? I am due for my 6 month oil change now, so picked up some 50% offer at ECP. Would like to try an engine flush as I never done so before.
  18. Thanks guys, all good with the Bosch S4 and for £75 at ECP (price matched) I’m really happy. also fit was straight forward and easy. Thanks John.
  19. Thought the same, found the paperwork and it was February 2014 so five years ago (how time flys). I thought battery’s should last 8-10 years as the scheduled time on my car maintenance is showing 2021 after I resent it when I put the old battery in.
  20. Thanks John. Do I still use the old housing (black plastic top) as the Bosch battery is slightly out of dimensions as you say tight fit. There was one at Halfords that matched the same sort of dimensions: https://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductMobileDisplay?catalogId=10151&categoryId=165762&langId=-1&productId=734751&storeId=10001 Yuasa HSB075 Silver 12V Car Battery 5 Year Guarantee
  21. Just reserved the Bosch 068 battery at ECP, but notice the terminals are at the front and + on right side with - on left side. Do I turn the battery around so terminals go at the back with + on left side and - on right closest to wing. This is how the current (Toyota) battery is? also will the battery clap and whatever holding it fit as normal. thanks
  22. Hi guys, gonna bump this thread again as I think I need a new battery. I think three years ago or may be four, I got the original from Lexus for £95 and fitted myself. Today when starting my car I noticed my folding mirrors did not open, then car did not start, only dials come on. Got jump start, drove home and car did not start. Is the Bosch straight fit as I remember when ECP and some 030 031 did not fit and then went Lexus. Please need to get one ASAP as I am career for my 89 year old father and need the car 😞 Thanks guys.
  23. Hi John Thanks for that as I remember doing that a few years back and the response from the car was great. Just to make sure, I'm doing it right. 1. Disconnect Battery 2. Take out MAF and clean using electrical clearner 3. Fix MAF and reconnect battery - Reset all windows.
