  1. I know I said we are closed Sundays but after speaking to my salesmen, they are keen to come in on their day off to meet you guys and host the day. Unfortunately I will be away then, so won’t be able to attend. Don’t be too sad for me though, I will be attending the NADA (National Automobile Dealer Association) Conference in Las Vegas :D . I am sure I will come back bursting with new ideas!! Can I please get an idea of what you plan to do and how many people/cars will be here?
  2. We don't have any firm figures on the RX400h yet but on the subject of fuel economy, you will only get 23mpg in real life in an X5d, I know, I had a demo when I worked with BMW! The RX is currently the most fuel efficient petrol SUV in the UK and the RX400h will be the most fuel-efficient SUV full stop. The acceleration will compete with V8 SUV’s X5 4.4i and ML500, in real life you can expect 18-20 mpg from them. I would expect the RX400h to be almost double! Now that’s a result! The fact is, Lexus have the flexabilty to tune the car the way they want and we will only know for sure when they tell us and I will probably find out here :) On the design, there is now a dedicated Lexus design team, the GS is a result of this and I would expect more of a family feel in future models. The last thing I would want is the S Class/ C Class thing where unless you are in the trade, you can’t tell the difference. Good if you have a C, bad if you are in an S!
  3. RX400h (the hybrid) will be with us Q4 this year. A bit of inside info tho, I already have 5 orders for it, so if you want one you will need to be quick as there will be very limited availability this year. On a similar note, I drove the Prius recently. I was amazed at the technology in that car. The future is here, goodbye diesel! I borrowed the car from out Toyota dealership to let a customer see how it worked, he then promptly got his cheque book out!! Kind regards Ian
  4. and maybe even a cup of hot chocolate... Need to avoid Sundays tho, we are closed then.
  5. You can meet here if you like! If you give me an idea of when and how many, I will see what plans I can make for you :D
  6. Can I clarify this issue please? If there is moisture inside the headlamp there are 2 options, either it is condensation or water ingress. Most cases are from dew condensation, which is not caused by a parts failure. Dew Condensation. When the lens surface is cooled, moisture in the air inside the headlamp condenses on the inside lens surface resulting in a foggy appearance. This is happens the same way as your house windows mist in the winter or the outside of your beer glass gets wet in the summer. We do have a test which enables us to judge what type of water is in the headlamp and if it is dew condensation, I can assure everyone that there is no reduction in performance of the headlamp and it is my understanding that this would not be an MOT fail point. Water Ingress If the headlamp ‘failed’ due to manufacturing defect, it would be replaced under the Lexus warranty. Ian
  7. Hi Since I started to converse on the site, I have realised that I should be offering something to the members. As of 1st of Jan 2004, Gold Members will be receive the following discounts. 10% Parts Discount 15% Labour Discount Upgraded Loan Car i.e. not an IS200. Loan Car fully insured for £10. Can anyone wanting to take advantage of this offer please make it clear when they book in that they are Gold Members. On the subject of car purchases; It is very difficult to say £X or Y% discount on cars because that is always a very fluid situation. What I will say is that we will always be as competitive as we have to be (I do need to make money!) but as a bonus, if any member (not just Gold) decides to buy a car from Lexus Edinburgh, I will pay for their accommodation and treat them to a meal in one of Edinburgh’s best restaurants (Oloroso), for them and their partner when they come to collect their car. I hope this is useful. Kind regards Ian.
  8. Carlisle is Border Toyota. I am sure there will me 'cap dothing' to Sir Arnie
  9. Hi Jock I was trying to avoid this type of blatant selling but………………….if I can help, please do not hesitate to give me a call at the dealership. 0131 335 6543. As you will be the first person I have spoken to on the site about a car purchase; I am sure you won’t be disappointed! Ian
  10. Hi Your dealers technicians should have had training on this, just ask them for help.
  11. There is the list on the LGB web site but will not help with the holding companies. Why do you need the holding companies anyway? Lexus Glasgow is Arnold Clark and Aberdeen is Town and County but I am not sure for how long! I am sure if it is necessary a polite email to LGB may provide all the details you require. Ian
  12. Yeah, that should be fine. He will probably skim and polish the wheel.
  13. Thank you Matthew I would like to make it clear that I strive to make sure that my customers are as satisfied as possible. There is no sound business reason for doing anything else! At my dealership I have introduced things not normally seen in the motor trade. For instance, all of my customers are invited to have their cars washed, every Saturday, free of charge. I provide the coffee and sticky buns when they are here! There are occasions when we let people down but this is not because we want to. If that happens I do my best to rectify the situation. I have been involved with a few ‘quality’ franchises and can testify that the Lexus network takes customer satisfaction more seriously than any of them. That’s the dealers, not just the manufacturers. I have been reading this forum for a year now and just felt I should be involved, I hope you don’t mind? Back on subject though – I am not condoning bad workmanship but our ‘clowns’ are doing their best with what is very old equipment, however, when you invest 7 figures in plant, you do attract a better standard of operative and that combined with the new equipment means that I fully expect us to have the best facility in the UK when it opens early in 2004. I am sure the bodyshop manager would be delighted to show any of you round if you are in the area. Kind regards Ian
  14. Any treatment that involves excess heat or an acid bath is not good for the alloys, this was what caused the wheel I seen to collapse.
  15. Please be very careful when having your wheels reburbished. I have seen a wheel collapse that be been refurbished the wrong way! Kind regards Ian
  16. I am very sorry you had that experience, I am sure we have spoken and the car is now to the standard it should have been the first time. I would like to tell you and the forum that my group are just about to complete our new bodyshop, which is packed full of the very latest equipment, which I am sure will put an end to this sort of result. This represents a huge investment for the Eastern Western Group and I for one am looking forward to the results Kind regards Ian
  17. I am the proud owner of these wheels. I had to have 6 sets specially made by Khan for the RX (due to its unique off set). They are therefore only 6 sets in the UK!! They do affect the ride ever so slightly but the way the car looks more than makes up. Please let me know if you are interested and we can take it from there, I will give a trade in for a good set of 18" standard alloys. Kind regards Ian
