  1. There is a setting where you can set the Rev counter display on all the time. Perhaps this has got set on by mistake. You can check the settings from the steering wheel buttons. If you need to know how let me know Thanks Paul.
  2. My 2013 advance has a built in Tom Tom. Best of both worlds. Lexus can concentrate on making good cars. Tom Tom can concentrate on making good sat nav. Everyone's happy.
  3. Will a punctured full tyre fit in the space that the space saver came from? Alternatively you could leave one of the kids / mother in law at the side of the road and put the tyre on their seat :-)
  4. I always thought that the plural of Lexus was - more money than sense!
  5. I managed to kerb one of my alloys soon after getting the car on a pothole. Since then I have had at least two occasions when I have heard the stomach churning scrape of a wheel on the kerb only to find when I have inspected it I seem to have got away with it, must have been scraping the tyre. Kerbing alloys will always happen. There seems to be a lot of concern over kerbed alloys and getting them fixed or insuring them. Does it make that much difference to the value of the car at trade in time? If they were really bad you could buy a new set of alloys or get them repaired just before trading in. I don't see the point in fixing a kerbed alloy only to do it again a few weeks later. On another note. I am also IAM. There seem to be a lot of us on the forum.
  6. I got some Dunlop bluresponse tyres for my wife's jazz recently they seem okay. Not sure if they do the right size for your CT though. Why are wheel sizes still in inches?

My average mpg over 10,000 miles is 53. Currently getting 45. That's mainly a 7 mile commute through traffic. Average speed over 10,000 miles...... 23 mph! Who needs a car that can do 230 mph!
  8. Dear moderators Please can this thread be deleted. It was meant to be a light hearted discussion about tailgating but unfortunately has turned into personal attacks on people's driving behaviour and silly suggestions that do not help road safety. This is most unlike this forum where people usually behave like ladies and gentlemen. Thanks
  9. Looking at the spec on the Lexus web site the advance plus does not have a spare wheel. I think it is the extra weight of the sunroof that takes the CO2 over the magic 100 so the shed weight they remove the spare wheel to get it under 100 g/km again. You can always add a spare wheel yourself after you've bought it.
  10. I see Lexus have released an Advance Plus trim level. Two tone paint - black roof - not sure I like the black roof F sport rear spoiler - may make the rear window less mucky Sunroof - remember them? Tahara upholstery - nice to see this return. I like the Tahara in the old advance All for an extra £1250 Am I right in thinking there is no spare wheel though?
  11. Its not always safe to drive at the speed limit, and I am not going to be forced into breaking the law by impatient drivers behind tailgating.
  12. Could be the stick its a 64gb one.
  13. How do I turn off the large electro magnet that seems to attract the cars behind so they drive too close to my boot? It seems especially powerful when driving at 20mph through town. The closer they get the slower I have to go so their braking distance is in front of me as well as my own. I hate tailgaters. Any sensible ideas on how to stop them?
  14. Occasionally when I start the car I get a USB error 4 from the music system and it won't play music from the USB stick. If I turn the car off and on again it sorts it out and works fine until the next time. Anyone else had this problem? What causes it? What fixes it? Standard (non navigation or DAB) music system 2013 model year. Thanks Paul
  15. Hi I am not sure if you can play music via Bluetooth but in my 2013 advance (Tom Tom satnav) I use a usb stick for the music and the hands free Bluetooth for the phone. You can get small usb sticks that fit under the cover. Just depends if you need the usb to charge your phone. Hope that helps.

Don't be disappointed when you first get the car. In January with a new engine I think you will be lucky to get 45 mpg at 70 mph on the motorway if you are using the motorway a lot, but it will improve when the engine loosens up and the weather is warmer. The CT is best round town or under 60 mph on the motorway. It is also very seasonal. In the summer I get 57 mpg but this time of year its bellow 50 mpg. My average mpg is 54 over the year I have had it. Mostly around town and on A roads. Don't forget the free road tax and the fact that it is petrol are also benefits. The CT is also a nice place to be. Hope you enjoy the car.
  18. To get back to the topic of the original post. I have not driven a 2014 model yet but on paper there does not seem to be a big enough difference to want me to spend more money on upgrading. I'll stick with the 2013 advance. I will wait for my 3 year contract to be up and then see what the 2016 new model looks like.
  19. I too was struck by the size of the NX. It's bigger than I expected, but with the sloping tailgate would you be able to get, for example, a washing machine in the back. Like the CT and RX the boot does not seem to be as practical as an estate car.
  20. A couple of things to check. Have you got random playback selected ? Do you have more than 255 tracks in a folder ? It does not recognise more then 255 tracks so any after that will not play. Is it playing them in order that they were loaded onto the USB stick ?
  21. It's a great new feature. Let's the driver be in complete control of when the lights are on or off. Same applies to the wipers. It's because the Lexus CT driver is more intelligent than the electronics.
  22. Looks like you'll have to open the door or turn them off at the switch. We are all getting very lazy. On my sons mini you have to wind the windows yourself, lock all the doors yourself, put the lights and wipers on yourself, and even change gear yourself. What we did a few years ago on our own without thinking is now frustrating if the technology does not do exactly what we want. It would be a simple software mod but we don't yet have complete customisation of all the cars features.
  23. No snow button on the CT we don't have such exotic technology. But then we don't have road tax either.
  24. You can also use B mode when going down hill to use engine braking.
