  1. Hi Andy, what attracted you to the 200t rather than the 300h?
  2. The CVT makes the drive very smooth. It is a bit noisy when you floor it but with a 0-60 time of 8.5 seconds the noise won't last long before you back off because you are now at the speed limit. You get used to the short delay before the speed picks up and with some forward planning this is not an issue. I also quite like the whine when you slow down and stop. Why would you want anything else for a relaxed comfortable and smooth ride?
  3. Sitting here bored in a hotel room. Got me thinking. When I checked in I put my room key (credit card type) in my pocket next to my phone. When I got to the room the key did not work. Had this before, seems like the phone wipes the hotel key. But I usually keep my car key in the same pocket as my phone. Can the phone interfere with the car key or vice versa. Had a few times when I take my phone out my pocket and it has no signal. Wondered if this was the car key interfering with the phone signal. Any thoughts?
  4. I recently went from a CT advance (pre facelift model) to an IS advance. Before the CT, I had a Honda Accord 2.4 auto estate. The IS is the car I should have bought instead of the CT. The CT and IS are very different cars. I have never had a rear wheel drive saloon before but the IS is the best car I have had and is more like the accord. The IS looks stunning, drives well, is well equipped and quiet. I am getting low 40s mpg but on longer runs currently 50 mpg. Which is about 10 mpg less than the CT but 20 mpg better than the accord and the car tax is £10 not £450. Things I miss about the CT. Rear was wipe, the sat nav which was a TomTom in my advance model. The IS satnav is okay to use but it is a bit slow to tell you of hold ups and she is very posh. On the whole I do not regret changing from the CT to the IS. It's in a different league to the CT. As for the sport model. Don't know much about it. I think it is cosmetic changes rather than an f sport. But then I never got the point of the f sport anyway. I want comfort and luxury over speed and the standard IS is fast enough for me. Have a test drive in an IS but be prepared to want one after you do.
  5. That's what I was trying to describe. I don't think it is the hill start assist as it does not stop after a few seconds. I think it must just be the creep forward is equal to the roll back. I wondered if the car compensated for the roll back and gave more creep.
  6. Sometimes when I come to a stop on a hill e.g. At a traffic light, I can take my foot of the brake and the car does not roll back. Is this the hill start assist? How does it work and does it cause any damage if used too much? Thanks Paul
  7. It's because the people who buy the premium brands want piece of mind. After three years with no warranty and having to have an MOT, many of the drivers can easily be tempted to buy another new car. In effect they sell more of the more expensive cars.
  8. Lexus make the best cars in the world. Lexus dealers are the best dealers in the world. It's up to us to be the safest drivers in the world.
  9. Not really a discovery, more an observation. If the official MPG is 65. Why does the bar graph only go up to 60 MPG?
  10. Good lad! Enjoy. Hope you find the right one soon.
  11. When I first drove the IS the salesman gave me the car for the day and I just drove it home and back again. By the time I got home on familiar roads I had got used to the car. When I had the second test drive in the car I was thinking of buying, the salesman was sat next to me and was talking about the car and I was trying to navigate an unfamiliar route. Very difficult to get a feel for the car in this scenario. You need time on your own to get a feel for it.
  12. The light blue is f sport only. Mesa red is nice if you want a colour other than black, white, grey etc. Hope the test drive is helpful. Be an individual not a sheep....
  13. Have you posted a similar thread on the BMW forum? Would be interesting to hear the BMW owners views.
  14. Hi, welcome to the forum. I have had my IS for about a month and like it. I have never had a diesel or BMW so cannot comment on that apart from if you intend spending a lot of time going up and down the motorway at 80 mph then get a diesel. The hybrid works best around town where the battery can be used to full affect. Have a test drive in an IS. You can usually get a 24h test drive if you want and they may even deliver the car to you to try it instead of you going to them. But visiting a Lexus dealer is an experience in itself. No major concerns over reliability. Most negative comments on the IS seem to be about the sat nav. I am sure others will chip in with more comments and suggestions. Explore the forum.
  15. For me, Fiesta, Escort, Rover 214, Civic Aerodeck, Accord Hatch, Stream, Accord Tourer, CT, IS For wife, Fiesta, Civic 3 Door, Civic 5 door, Golf, Jazz MK 1, Jazz Mk3. So mostly Honda.
  16. I think mine is a Kingston 64GB and I don't have any issues. I keep all my music on it and don't take it out. In the CT there was a maximum of 255 files per folder so any more than this and the system would not play those songs.
  17. Just found that the seats have a small pad between the side of the seat and the centre console to stop pens etc falling down the gap between the seat and centre console. How thoughtful. Also, I can play my music in random mode from any directory of the memory stick. So I can put all my music one one stick and have it play any song at random.
  18. It's a very photogenic car. Let's see your photos taken from unusual angles or close ups of a part you find interesting Here's one of my favourites to get you started
  19. At least you can turn the auto lights off if you want. On the new Jazz you can't turn the auto lights off so they stay off next time you start the car. Now if they invented a car where the driver was in complete control over the lights and wipers that would be great! We are just getting lazy and expect technology to be as clever as a human. A long way to go before that happens.
  20. I took out the Smart Cover when I bought my IS. It was an ex demonstrator and just over 3 months old but still in as new condition. I took the cover out as I did not want to worry about any small scratches or dents spoiling the good looks of the car and thus gave me piece of mind. I chose the Lexus Smart Cover as I thought they would be able to match the paint better and were approved by Lexus. If you take out your own Smart Cover it may be cheaper but will they be able to match the paint as well. I also think it is worth considering if you are on a PCP deal where you expect to hand the car back after three years. If the car is in anything but perfect condition after three years you will get charged to put it back into perfect condition. As is what happened to me. I got charged for new windows as the CT had scratches on the privacy glass (However the Smart Cover does not include glass so would not have helped in this instance). With this insurance you can keep the car in perfect condition. If you intend keeping the car longer such that at trade in time it will just get put to auction by the dealer, then the condition is not so important so the Smart Cover may not be of benefit. Especially if you are not too fussy about little knocks and scratches. I also took out GAP insurance but found it to be half the price from my own insurance company as opposed to the Lexus one.
