  1. Hi Tim. Why don't you tell us what is important to you and we can suggest a trim level that may suit. My 2013 advance has all that I want Tahara seats - fake leather but not heated. Satnav. Built in tomtom Reversing camera and parking sensors. Cruise control
  2. You can always leave the kids/mother in law by the side of the road and put the wheel on their seat.
  3. I bought a space saver from ebay for about £100. If you take the plastic box out from under the boot floor it fits under the boot. At least you get a jack. The wife's new Jazz didn't even come with a jack.
  4. Looks like it is only the f sport with premium nav that has the shark fin.
  5. Had a test drive on an IS last week whilst my CT was in for service. Very impressed, it is a step up from the CT. I was looking at a mesa red advance with ivory leather. But the dealer threw me by saying they had one in stock and could do it for less than £500 a month if I took delivery this month. He even brought one to my house in the evening so my wife could see it. Not sure of having a new car this time of year though, going into winter and all that. So will have another look in the spring. Can't wait. I thought they were on three months delivery.
  6. Hi stompe. The CT does not have heating vents in the back and the Lexus warranty is only 3 years. I don't think the CT is much different than the auris so may not be worth the change. The IS has vents in the back but that is a different car altogether. Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC
  7. Is there a way to report the eBay listing to eBay or the police? I tried the report item but it did not seem very useful.
  8. It's also on auto trader at £13800 and 36000. With the same photos.
  9. Hi. I have just googled the reg number and it came back with http://www.ukvehicle.com/GX12LKP/ The mileage on here states 42000 in April but the eBay add states. 36000. Sounds fishy to me. Plus the buyer is new. Steer clear if you are not sure.
  10. Hi welcome to the club. It looks nice in Mesa Red. Nice to see a bit of colour. You see a lot of white, silver or black cars. What colour is it inside. Enjoy.
  11. You may also want to consider a pre 2014 advance. They have a built in TomTom satnav, reversing camera and fake leather.
  12. Try doing an average of 56 mph and see what you get. At high speeds the engine is purely on petrol and you are just lugging a heavy battery around as ballast. If you want to tare up the motorway and be economical get a diesel. Hybrids are better round town where it can use the battery more. Sent from my iPhone using Lexus OC
  13. I imagine it is dissipated in heat. Thus contributing to global warming!
  14. B mode is for going down steep hills where you would engage low gear if in a manual car. It's not meant for normal use. I think it's best to let the car decide when to recharge its batteries. You can help by being observant and ease off for example when approaching red traffic lights.
  15. If you need to stop use the brake pedal in the normal way. I am not sure if the brake lights show if you use B or regen braking. If you are slowing down best to let drivers behind know what you are doing.
  16. I usually see at least one IS or CT a day on my way to work. Not always the same one. However I must see at least 100 BMW, Audi or Mercs, but it is Cheshire.
  17. "With you foot on the brake the system knows you don't want to move forward and suspends all power to the motor. It doesn't monitor the parking brake in the same way and is therefore the electric motor is constantly applying a forward force." It could do. There is a red light on the dash showing the parking brake is on.
  18. Just to clarify. I don't put it in park. Just put the "handbrake" on and leave in drive. Like I have done in all automatics I have had, gives the left foot something to do...
  19. What is the difference to the drive train when you put your foot on the brake when stationary? I like to put the parking brake on when stationary for a while, so as not to dazzle drivers behind with the brake lights showing. I have noticed that when you have your foot on the brake the electric motor seems to switch off but if you don't keep your foot on the brake but keep the parking brake on then the electric motor seems to be trying to move the car forward. (It's not in Park) even though it does not move as the parking brake is on. Does this damage the drive train in any way? Sometimes when the engine is running as well it sounds different and you can feel vibrations. Should I just stop being nice to the car behind and keep my foot on the brake?
  20. Is there a difference in attitude from a dealer if you have personally bought a car from their dealership as opposed to having a fleet bought company car?
  21. I got a spare wheel for my CT off eBay £100. Or try just getting a second hand wheel and tyre to keep in the boot for emergencies. Does not have to match the other wheels.
  22. Thanks for your comments. I will have a test drive next time my CT is in for service. Trouble is after a test drive I will probably want one.!
  23. Just a thought. If you are using the gears to slow down then the brake lights will not show. Thus not alerting the drivers behind you are slowing down.
  24. Hi, I have noticed that many of you have moved from a CT to an IS and I have been considering the same. Whether it is wanting to move up in the Lexus range, as for many the CT is the first Lexus, or wanting to see why the IS has won so many awards. However I see the CT and IS to be different cars for different markets. the CT is a front wheel drive hatchback and the IS a rear wheel drive saloon. Personally I have only ever driven front wheel hatchbacks or estates. I see the CT as more practical (although I have already proved that the wife's Honda Jazz has a bigger boot then the CT) and the IS as more of a motorway cruiser (I don't go on the motorway much). So my question is. If you have moved from a CT to and IS (or the other way round), what were your reasons and how does living with the cars compare? When I have seen the NX is a showroom they look so big so this puts me off those. Thanks Paul.
