  1. Probably best calling or emailing Polished Bliss for advice . If it is alcantara then this dedicated cleaning product is well regarded. When clean and dry use a fabric protector like Gtechniq I1 Smart Fabric so you dont have all that hassle again. Make sure you wear a face mask as its nasty smelling stuff but it works.
  2. I have a 2014 Ct Advance and a Samsung S4. I paired the phone easily enough however cant seem to browse the music on my phone. I can play the sound through the car but only the current album. Almost all my music is stored on the phones SD card, Any tips on how I can basically get in the car and just view the phones contents. The telephone and audio are pairred and the former works well. I mainly use a very small USB stick in the car which fits under the flap but the odd thing easily accessed on the phone would be nice and besides its a selling point.
  3. I have the protection kit with my 2014 CT and after only a couple of weeks the rear scuff plate looked tarnished. Spots on it and no buffing with my drying towel did anything. Knowing its unlikely to be uncoated steel but not sure what it consisted off i didnt think a dedicated metal polish was a good idea . I also didnt want to mask off the rest of the car around it either. I then got out some Bilthamber autobalm as it works well on plastics and metals and leaves really good protection behind. Working fast using a load of pressure it was sorted in a few minutes. The dirt that came off onto the cloth was surprising given how clean the car is kept. I will be using this on the door frame edges which are also chrome effect when required as it wont stain the plastic right next to it. Its a tricky product to use without smearing, basically use almost none on a damp mf pad and buff of pretty much straight away. For dark coloured cars it works well hiding swirls and leaves a really good gloss finish once as I said you get the knack. Does anyone know what the rear plate consists of. Looks like a coating on it?
  4. I had a Honda CRZ and when I changed over the admin fee was less due to my 2014 CT advance being cheaper. I wasn't expecting that :-)
  5. Thanks for link. I just wondered if the car actually had that function as there was nothing in POI or anything to suggest it did.
  6. I tried premium in my Honda CRZ and also in my Civic Type S petrol before that and if Im honest no difference (mind plays tricks a bit like a new bit of HiFi kit). Audi VW TSI petrols benefit in MPG with 98 ron or 99 cant mind which it is. What car & Which magazine tests found little to no difference in their tests on a number of cars in controlled conditions. Question often comes up in US forums as their standard is far lower than UK standard and more likely to note a difference.
  7. I thought the Advance stated in the brochure it has some sort of voice control for the sat nav. Is the "voice" just the spoken directions and not some sort of way to navigate without using the controller. Also the brochure mentions speed camera notifications how does that work. In Stirling / forth valley area we only mobile camera vans which I assume are not included in the alerts. Does the Advance even have camera warnings?
  8. I have clayed a few times and the surface is so smooth afterwards its worthwhile doing and makes polishing a lot easier. Claying does need care and can inflict micro marring itself which is easily sorted with mild abrasive polish or AIO such as autoglym SRP. Before doing that wipe the car with tar remover once washed and dried and remove the tar then get some IRON X or similar iron decon stuff which will really impress on an car thats a few years old also use it on your alloys. Pressure wash that off and the surface will be a lot smoother already. For clay I recommend Bilt Hamber Autoclay SOFT and just use it with loads of warm water in a spray bottle as the most cost effective option using no pressure just glide it over the paintwork. Wash and dry the car again and go on a scratch spotting mission and use something like Meguilar Scratch X on them several times until no further reduction can be seen then get on with the polishing stage. Sounds like a lot of hassle but you would only do the full process once or twice a year.
  9. Obvious but often overlooked is that before getting rid of swirls or hiding them read up on correct wash technique so as to avoid inflicting them in the first place. Nothing is more sole destroying than getting a nice finish after a days work only to undo it at the next wash. All the terms like Wax and polish tend to used wrongly except on Detailing Forums. Autoglym Super Resin is a mildly abrasive AOI (all in one) in that it it has some cut to the polish when used with some pressure, contains fillers and leaves a coating of sealant protection behind so last a couple of months or so. What is recommended is to do one coat with pressure then a second using no pressure followed by a wax or sealant over the top. Wax and sealant are called the LSP (last stage product). I use Jeffs Acrylic Jett trigger spray which takes 15min to do a whole car and lasts for months and as its water based will not remove any of the fillers in the polish its applied over.
  10. If its swirls you want to remove and the paint is not badly swirled then try hand polishing first using G tec P1 Polish or similar diminishing abrasive polish. Before doing even that try (after wash, tar remover, clay and iron decon of course) using the newest version of Autoglym Super resin Polish properly and see if you are happy with the results. Soft paint is easier to correct and easier to marr. German cars tend to have hard paint and had removal can be difficult to get decent results on. Polish that contains fillers is your friend Super resin is still well regarded in this respect. Lots of folks on DW love auto Finesse Tripple which is an all in one and can work wonders and save time and its cheap. http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog/auto-finesse-tripple.html maybe try that first. I have had a lot of good advice from Polished Bliss so if you are unsure on what to buy give them a call. I had a brand new Civic Type s a few years back and it chipped real easy and I complained. During the (waste of time) consultation paint depth readings were taken and some areas were thinner so advice about a paint gauge is to be heeded unless you bough the car new and know if its had any repairs.
  11. Manual is huge! The CD ROM that came with mine was of the 2013 model. It seems the car is so new Lexus are playing catchup, I can understand their wish to get something so well build out for March though.
  12. Ive just checked mine and no reset switch so it appears mine doesnt have TPWS which given its in the brochure as standard is odd. The tyre valves are a lot higher standard build wise so thought was due to TPWS. I cant find out how to input a postcode either on my Satnav or Speed Camera sites (all listed as Advance model features) which I know differs from the premium version, As I have barely scratched the surface of the manual ill wait a while before contacting Lexus.
  13. Fantastic build quality eh! I used that one as my benchmark. Nothing i looked at afterwards had that special feeling so did the deal and picked mine up last Thursday. It was easy to see how Lexus manage to get all those CS pludits if Edinburgh are anything to go by anyways.
  14. 17" Wheels on mine. I had no choice with it being a dealer pre order. I also had no choice in that it came with the protection pack at no extra cost to myself :-) the silver rear bumper plate gives the rear a bit of extra class.
  15. My Avatar picture is of the car in Lexus Edinburgh a week past Tuesday. They had a few pre ordered CT Advance models and luckily for me an artic white pearl model was available almost instantly. Did the deal last Friday after a drive in an F Sport in white to reconfirm my thoughts on a 2013 Advance I was taken out in to get a feel for a couple of weeks before. Anyway my 2014 Advance rides significantly better than either so you wont be disappointed.
  16. You certainly are gonna need manual time. Im about to go out into my drive and sit for a while setting things up and getting more familiar with the control wheel.in my 2014 Advance which we picked up yesterday. Unlike you I came from a Honda CRZ so boot is fine. I was concerned about missing the CRZ's handling but so far the CT is actually more reassuring and more grip. Miles seemed to melt away. Keyless entry and start is really nifty.
  17. Einzett Gummi Pflege comes highly recommended for maintaining the rubber and helps avoid the frozen door issue in the winter months. It about as easy to apply as it gets. Everyone should have some of this stuff I only wish I had found it sooner. http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=158745 for more opinions.
  18. Use the Bilberry first then use the IronX or similar Iron removal product. It will save a lot of effort and get the best results possible. same goes for the alloys although use the least amount of Bilberry dilution to get the job done on alloys.
  19. I am due to get my new 2104 CT200h soon. I am a detalingworld.co.uk member and have the snow foam lance the Dooka wool mitt, gritt guard bucket ,whole nine yards type approach to my cars. I see in the brochure the CT has self healing paint ( I take this to mean swirls will be less of a problem and dont expect miracles!). My LSP of choice is werkstaff acrylic jett trigger sealant due to the sharpness of finish and easy of application and wonder if anyone could share their thoughts and experiences on detailing this type of paint. From what I have managed to gain so far UV light is your friend.
  20. I have just ordered a CT200 Advance hope to have it by the end of the week. Great experience from Lexus Edinburgh so far.
