  1. meguiars scratch x is one of the best ones easily got in Halfords in that it has dimishing abrasive so you don't end up with micro polishing swirls. Using a microfibre cloth go at 90 degree s to the scratch and rub until product goes clear too many folks don't work it long enough then repeat until no further improvement is seen even if that's six or seven times. using a filler polish like autoglym srp can help further on really bad scratches just remember to seal it afterwords. if the panel has been subjected to a smart repair then take care using abrasives
  2. Go into setup then phone and setup voice recordings for your most used contacts. If you are near your Lexus dealer I'm sure they will help
  3. You seem to have made your mind up already. Things in CT favour to consider are major saving on fuel over a V6 petrol, no road tax and low insurance which on the latter took me by surprise.
  4. Honestly bluenose1940 you need to just drive one. Let them know you coming and youll get the car for plenty of time. I would suggest unlike other test drives you let the saleman drive it for a bit and explain it all before you take the wheel. Check out Toyota Prius videos from Toyota on Youtube as there are more available that explain how the hybrid system works. Lack of oomph compared with your 250 will be noticed for sure but the quiet smooth driving experience will negate that. Sport mode has instant throttle response something you only get with hybrids really since the switch to turbo charged engines everywhere.
  5. Spare wheel standard on 2014. Only issue I see for you is auto dip reversing wing mirrors which dont come as standard for some reason until the FSport & Premium which have antiglare mirrors. FWIW the CT Advance is well speced out for the money (front sensors nice to have)with only the no dipping mirrors being notable thing missing item. Your wife will find the vision out the CT very good especially the clever designed rear window with the section at the sides which looks seemless from outside.
  6. I have just called Lexus Customer relations who have raised a query and Ill post back once they have replied.
  7. The Sandisk 16gb micro I am using came with Sandisk security which i had left. I formatted it fully yesterday and its just as bad with 9GB of music. I could try a 4GB stick and see if its the cars inability to handle a 16GB stick as mentioned above but then I would be paying out money to try a theory. Ill wait until i find someone with such a sized stick I can borrow.
  8. great post OP I thought it was just me having this issue. It bugs me big time as well. I have any 10GB MP3 all ripped by dbpoweramp at HQ so average 290 bitrate. I never had an issue with my honda CRZ playing music quickly. I wonder if the file size is to big. I'm using a 16GB sandisk micro which is a pretty quick rated device as well. I have another stick and I suppose I could try just 10 albums and see how that works. Off topic but I can t browse music on my Samsung s4 via Bluetooth only plays what I was last listening too. Should be able to surely.
  9. Yeah I usually turn stereo low in carparks to avoid distraction and appear like a boy racer! i'm going to resort to more volume as a few of you have suggested. Horn is wrongly used a lot these days and as you say people immediately go on the defensive for no reason.
  10. I hate using the horn as it frightens people and briefly considered the options before seeing the chap moving to the side then turn around oblivious to his surroundings. I have been left a tad shook up by the chaps wife or relative who despite facing the other way at the time and well ahead proceeded to stare deliberately at my car all round the car park. I even waited after sounding the horn for the chap to cross over! I have read the Nissan Leaf has two horns one for pedestrians not sure if its true but seems like a good idea
  11. I have just had another incident of someone not looking and being in front of me. I was so concerned they were not going to realise I was there despite being almost stopped for some time awaiting them crossing I used the horn (first time I have ever used it) very quickly to be sure. The look I got of puzzlement despite it being pretty obvious why I had sounded the horn has left me a bit concerned about car parks even more than ever when cars running on battery which it always does. the funny electronic noise the car emmits doesnt seem too register with people. How do you folks find car parks.
  12. you have creaks? My experience of 2014 fsport v current 2014 advance is don't bother provided your on 17's. Ride is jiggly and not suited to UK roads. IT rolled a tad less but that's about it.
  13. I noted this when sitting in traffic on test drives and the CT was audibly quieter than any of the other cars I tried inc Civic, QQ, CRV never mind my previous car the CRZ which was loud. Nice video on Youtube about the insulation side of things by the designer which I can't find again for some reason...will keep looking
  14. The thing I have now noted is the car is so well insulated in terms of wind noise and outside noise that tyre noise is more noticeable. That said I think mine is quiet enough and having read the Bridgestone bit above and happy I have Yokos. A lot has been mentioned about noise etc but little about how well the 2014 handles corners (on 17" anyways) I am actually finding it better than my CRZ when really pushing which is rare as the CT brings out an inner calm which is welcome in todays congested roads.
  15. Daft design fault to put usb there in the first place as you cant hide anything when parked up. I bought a micro sized USB stick from Mymemory next day and it fits perfectly with flap closed. Here is the link http://www.mymemory.co.uk/USB-Flash-Drives/SanDisk/SanDisk-16GB-Cruzer-Fit-USB-Flash-Drive
  16. try heating an edge with a hairdryer and see if it starts to peel away. It certainly looks like it will. I would love to know why Lexus didn't fit sliding one to ours.
  17. 17" on my 2014 advance and compared with 2013 on 17" there is a significant improvement in ride.
  18. Check with Lexus I doubt the maps loaded have any camera sites listed for France given the law. Try a tweet they seem pretty quick to respond and it will be there as evidence . The most common way to get done is between two Payage points on the motorway. They dont need cameras for that just a notification you have arrived between two point with a higher average speed.
  19. Yip. How they can include such a low volume car and match it up with Fords with any real meaning etc is hard to fathom. The reliability scores are nice to see though as its is a user driven survey.
  20. http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/best-cars/driver-power/86713/driver-power-2014 Reliability 4th but check the scores almost 2nd
  21. Fsport in the pictures. Lexus really shouldnt put them out to the press as the ride is a lot firmer compared with the rest. As for Clarksons review comments...I expected nothing less.
  22. I use eco most of the time switching to sport at junctions our when I'm having a play. I haven't had the car long enough to decide if eco or normal make much difference but in eco in the town it encourages economical driving. Re Sport mode, Paul in the 2014 you can set the tacho on or off in the setting albeit I left it as is for the time being. EV seems a tad pointless as it kicks off to easily and you have to press the button again whereas it's easy enough to keep the EV light on in eco at slow speeds. I still use it as I wonder if it's just me!
  23. I get the artwork via bluetooth but can access music to browse. I think it may be down to storing the music on my S4's microsd card. I dont know about you but it can take a while before you are able to browse the music on the SD stick sometimes which is annoying is say you you go into the car first thing and want to play something else other than what you had on previously. I wonder is its down to amount of music on the stick which is around 9GB so far and all at 256-320 KBPS bitrates.
  24. Snavekram, Its certainly the easiest car to drive ive ever owned and there is something about the silent glide when you move off that brings a grin to the face. The bluetooth phone part is rather useful especially being able to glance at a text and the voice quality is really good. Easily paired to my Samsung S4 and the wifes S2. I cant browse music via bluetooth for some reason only play what I have already selected however as I use a USB stick full of high bitrate MP3 its not a major issue. fwiw this small size USB stick fits in the slot and the flap will close over it (why they dont make a larger arm rest and put the slots inside is beyond me) so its not easily knocked or tempting for a tealeaf . Im hoping the seats will loose a bit of of firmness on the base over time but they are good at holding me in place when cornering which the CT does rather well and I am comparing to my previous car a Honda CRZ which sat a lot lower. I dont know about you but keeping EV lit is very addictive :-)
