  1. It sounds pretty nice, and the spec is correct. If you don't think it's impertinent of me to ask, why are you selling it after only so short an ownership?
  2. Pretty nice, Luca! And I imagine, a rarity in Italy
  3. That is rather handsome 👀
  4. Cheaper than a new motor, indeed! And attracts no attention from thieves — these Canbus thefts seem to be quite a thing lately. Trouble with EV is once you're on the treadmill, it's replacement every couple of years, just like a mobile phone.
  5. Well, that or some other antick gesture 🖕
  6. I was surprised recently, forging along the A303 at a brisk clip towards the M3, to be overtaken on the inside by the driver of another 07 IS250, who then sidestepped into the gap in front of me — not a manoeuvre I approve of! One way of bonding... I guess?
  7. Where we used to live, in inner London, was close to the Kilburn High Road so our street was like a supermarket car park. I did have all the little dings and scrapes repaired a few years ago so the paint doesn't look too bad for an 07. The wheels look like hell and the front tyres are losing pressure because the bead seal is compromised so they're all going for a refurb next week. I might have the workshop polish the car too. By 'floppy' I mean the way the body works — all good flying along the A303, but groaning rather at the stress of the deeply potholed Somerset lanes, where poverty-spec 16" wheels might make more sense.
  8. Well clearly the suspension is not what it once was, though the steering was greatly improved by the recent replacement of the track-rod end rubbers. It's more that the bodywork is a bit floppy, as happens to all cars that are regularly driven I think? Though that is relative — IS2 starts from a pretty high base of mechanical integrity. I agree with @Linas.P about the paddles. I do sometimes use manual hold, but use the stick for this, which works nicely, a habit inherited from the two V6 Camrys previously owned. I took it out on a solo trip today, for once able to see the speedo in the red if you know what I mean. It felt great.
  9. How good to hear you and your nearest survived such a nasty crash! Hell is other people... Your experience recalls a story related to 'Honest John' by one of the first owners to total an IS250 in a RTA. They stepped out uninjured, prompting HJ to remark that it seemed an extraordinarily strong car.
  10. The poor lights on the IS2 are one reason to consider IS3. No matter how much you polish them, those old lights get dim again pretty quick. But there's plenty of correspondence on that in other threads.
  11. Thanks for the input gents! IS3 is for sure not well equipped until you get to the Premier model, which is what I would look for. And tho that model has ML as standard (I think), few also have the moonroof, both of which my IS2 has. I think I'd be lucky to find another, newer IS2 with those extras, that has a complete dealer service record from new, as mine does; and if I did it's likely, as Linus points out, to be overpriced. Besides which, I am slightly superstitious about replacing like with like. I've done it twice before, both times a disappointment. So better the devil you know, I guess?
  12. Does anyone here have one? My second-gen IS250 is getting a bit floppy now, but I like the powertrain so much — the 300H doesn't really float my boat. And the 200T is not much appreciated on here, it seems
  13. You would? Are you in fact doing so? Like several of the posters in this thread, I was and am disappointed that Lexus did not continue with the IS. I look at the IS350 sedan offered in the US with envy. Looking at Mazda for 'Continuity Lexus': powerful petrol engines, good autobox, lovely interior furnish & fit, many offered with sunroof, and prestige-brand sounds (Bose). Also, not excessively large. I loathe s****ing around in a huge car for personal transport.
  14. Put it out here first, so the homeez have first dibs?
  15. However Snows say that its Honiton Toyota branch is denied access to the software analytics that its Exeter Lexus branch has. There you go 🤷‍♂️
  16. That's not a bad resource! Curious most every one listed gets 5* reviews perhaps? In the short term, I'm going to get Snows Toyota Honiton on the case, because they will have the diagnostic tools required to lay bare the cause of the vexing 'Check VSC' warning.
  17. I have lived in London for over 50 years and love it. But it was time for a break, and this is a lovely area to do that. Also, the cycling is very promising. However this doesn't help me with finding a Lexus specialist!
  18. Can anyone advise of a reliable garage in the Taunton region capable of servicing my IS250? Nearest Lexus dealerships are Bristol and Exeter, quite a long haul simply for service! We have just moved here from London, where I could drive up to Lexus Edgware Road to drop the car off in the morning, hop on a bus, and be home in 15 minutes.
  19. We were townbound in the green IS250 on the M4 somewhere near Reading this afternoon, when a dark-green 04-reg IS200 came flashing past. My spouse was at the wheel at just about legal speed, but had it been me I should have closed to take a closer look. It is good to see this old sports saloon driven with élan, even outpacing the white vans!
  20. As Linus suggests, it's likely most of that mileage will have been on major roads and the car is unlikely to have bashed about the lanes where those big tyres aren't at their best — where indeed a big saloon such as this is not the most wieldy. I love the interior but GS does not have what my spouse deems a requirement, the ability 'to put stuff in'. That way Corolla lies 😬
  21. I spotted this pleasingly-specified GS300H at Lexus Hedge End (who I have read are well thought-of by posters here). It has more mileage even than my '07 IS250, which is wonderful on the motorway but shows its age on degraded roads. Any opinions on whether it would be a good buy?
