Can't tell if I over filled or under filled oil... Does anyone else have problem with dipstick not showing oil level properly? I filled in about 7 liters.

Ball park from lexus is 600 to 650 pounds. So what is the final recomendation then?

Its admiral I can read on their website that if it were my choice of windscreen, they will only.pay 50 pounds........................ Am I getting it wrong or what... Linas what insurance have you go?

Or will they put basic screen on? Lexus told me they replace moudlings as well. And I want proper job done not silicone applied and bended moudlings.

If I claim insurance over windscreen crack, do they repair with original lexus heated screen with green tint .... Can they use lexus to do it?

To add, it failed CO at idle by 1 point. All other readings are well in range.

It is a 2.0 petrol. I will put redex in tomorrow. 140k miles on clock. Won't police stop me for no mot?

Not Lexus car. Mot failed due to high CO. Car consumes engine oil but no smoke. Is it time to bin the car or can I go to other center than kwikfit and re try? Do redex and stuff work? Car wasn't being used for well over a month and driven straight for MOT. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Can't see the amazing dodo doing much there.... The stiching should have changed color. Colthes washing detergent will do better job. But might be too harsh for top coat.

oh and one more thing... When I remove the plugs, saw clean oil on the threads and tip of the plugs. I replaced rocker cover gasket but still does it. I am thinking that this changed the compression scores. Theory is that, the pressure in crank case goes up and forces oil through rocker cover gasket and it makes its way to the plugs (2 plus I think...). So when I removr plugs, oil went inside thr chamber and increased compression. .... So this time I will remove all the plugs. Let any oil go in. Then put the plugs back in and fire the engine so it burns any oil. Then perform the test again. If readings are the same then I will blame oil again. Else it is the engine.

I think it might be rings for one reason only.... If I remove the oil fill cap, I can feel air blowing out of it and it sputters oil. That was the reason I went for PCV valve and had to remove intake manifold and injectors to get access. A job it was. Disapponited though that efforts, time and money wasted.

No smoke at all. No smell. Just white steam on cold days that goes away once the car is warm. I have driven behind the car with it being floored... not even a puff. Am told cat converter these days block everything so it still might be piston rings or valves. Don't have a clue though. No leaks.

Vintage As far as I recall, kwilfit used Comma oil in thr car, when it didn't consume oil. I can't find the picture of it else I would have confirmed the exact spec other than 05w30. But my guess is C3 in 2.0 petrol engine. They used some generic oil filter. I always use OE parts so I got OE filter. With Castorl A5 oil. That is the time I started to top up every month. Thought might be fake A5 as I bought it from Asda for cheap so bought A5 from Halfords for next oil change. Same result. Checked castorl website and they recommended Edge LL. First I tried Edge that did not had LL mark on it. Read the spec online and it was a C3. Engine still consumed oil. Next oil change bought Edge LL which is like A5. Car still consumed oil. I then put in some stuff like STP and out that in after reading about it on Halfords website. Still it consumes oil. Now I have been suggested to change the oil brand completely. Will decide it on next oil change what to do. Last time I did compression test myself, the results were fine. I will re visit that as I want to make sure I performed it correctly. Changed PCV valve during all this process as well. But original PCV was found to be fine. Changed it anyway.

What to go with for a petrol engine that is consuming oil? Higher HTHS? Seeing an issue with a car where it wasn't consuming oil with kwikfit oil but since I changed it to A5 or Edge it is consuming a lot of it. No smoke though. Never understood oil.

Different brands might have different formula and can change over time. Castrol suggests A5 for is250. Chcek out their oil selector by putting your car reg in on their website.

Failing to understand this logic... Black leather does not wear out and just shines which is dirt. White leather color wears out... So black leather has better paint? ...

Pookyal Let us know how you color match and what your formula is. It was pain for me to color match.

MB with Nappa leather is far better Lexus leather can not come close. Obv price makes up for it.

It is Ivory. Not beige at all. Not impressed with lexus leather finish. Never seen such wear on any other car. Let us know how you get on. What paint you use and how you repaired it. How you paint matched.

It does matter. A late 2013 manfacutered car might have 2014 reg. A early 2014 will also have the same reg. Now the 2013 car with 2014 reg should be sold for a 2013 price. Not 2014 price. Tons of changes take place and price should reflect it.

Thanks everyone. Makes it difficult doesn't it. For each car one is buying or considering to buy, they will need VIN and beg the seller for it. Usually they won't give out saying things about clonning. Once you get that beg the dealer to let one know what year it is....which they won't due to privacy crap... Argh... been in this situation now...

When a car is registered in March os 2014 does that mean it was manufactured in 2014 or is that 2013? How can one know about this? How many times a year is a car manufactured? When is the car first registered i.e. at what point? Can there be an unregistered 2010 car registered in 2014?

check the shock absorbers while there.

I had done calipers few months back. All good. Didn't see anything damaged back then. I thought this has electric steering as I cannot find fluid reservior. I guess will need to take it to Lexus if I cannot see anything obvious. But the steering was hard like this from day one...
