  1. Welcome 🙂

Strange as what you describe is a classic symptom of EGR blockage.

So, having already replaced that, I am not sure what else could be going on.  Having said that, a friend had a problem with his EGR and after going round and round it turned out the new valve was faulty!

There are tests you can run on it, but they require the TechStream software (which is available on Ebay) to do.

Not sure what else to suggest at the time really.  Sorry.

Submitted my car for an MOT and a service to Lexus Glasgow, I have been given an UX300h as a lease/courtesy car.

My 1st properly driven fully electric car (I had a quick shot in Tesla 3 a few months ago) and I like it, a lot! It is quite, instant acceleration and it goes pretty well too, I tried to accelerate from 50 to 70 and it was probably quicker than my GS! The car is also very well specced!

Only if it was bigger, for my needs is tiny! KIA Niro may be? 🙂

I also hope my GS will get through MOT check painlessly!

I did also like the 300e when I had one on loan.  It is just a shame that the top spec is so expensive!

I'm sure the GS will be fine, but do let us know how it goes.

  3. I do like the look very much.  Interior looks alright as well, but I would be surprised if the quality is up to Lexus standards.

    Auto Express say:

At launch, the G70 Shooting Brake will be offered with one petrol and one diesel motor, both of which are shared with the saloon. The petrol is a 2.0-litre four-cylinder unit with 251bhp and 353Nm of torque, with the 2.2-litre diesel putting out 199bhp and a healthy 440Nm. Both drive the rear wheels alone through an eight-speed automatic gearbox.

The G70 saloon is available with a range-topping 3.3-litre turbocharged V6 petrol that powers all four wheels, but this won’t be offered with the Shooting Brake initially - we expect it to arrive later.

So it looks like the 3.3 V6, which I am assuming is the same as the one in my Stinger, is going to be offered at a later date?

If so, then the last consideration would be the price.

  4. Thanks chaps 🙂

I have no plans to leave here, and since the Kia Stinger forum seems non-existent, I still need somewhere to go everyday to catch up 🙂

How does it feel?  Honestly, a bit odd. I keep expecting to see it out of the window and there is just a gap.  It was sad yesterday knowing it was going to be my final drive in it (I may have said a few words to it on the way...🙂)

At this point, my Stinger is due at the end of November, so my GS sold a little too soon!  I am borrowing my brother's car for a while, but might have to consider something to run around in until mine turns up.

I know what you mean Vlad about looking around.  I really struggled to find something that fit my requirements, especially with regard to reliability and good dealer service.  I don't think the dealer experience will be as good for the Kia, but apart from that, I think the rest of the ownership prospects are looking promising.

I will of course keep you guys updated, assuming you want to hear about a Kia...🙂

  5. As of about an hour ago I am no longer a Lexus owner 😢

About the only consolation is that the chaps that came down were very nice and the owner promised to look after it!  He said he is going to join the forum, so hopefully I still get to see it from time to time.

It has been a fun journey, and I miss it quite a bit already.

No plans to go anywhere as I do really like it on this forum, and besides, who know if I will own one again at some point?

One last picture today before it left:

Update, I am now the very proud owner of a 2013 450h F Sport Black saw it bought it straight away well looked after and clean very happy. I've got P zeros on it at the moment are they the best for the F sport model.

Thanks for the picture Shahpor lovely colour.

    Cheers

    Thanks.

You are going to have to show us pictures of yours now in return 🙂

  7. It is a curious blend of specifications but what's new? 🙂

Is it just me or are cars becoming less configurable (unless they are German of course)?  For example, what happened to have a choice of what wheel you wanted on the car?  Surely it can't be that difficult to offer.

It also still surprises me that cars in this price category don't come with metallic paint as standard.  Premium paint colours I can understand, but a bit more choice on the free colours would be nice.

Lastly, as an Android users, I agree that it is in annoying that only CarPlay is wireless when both are quite capable of being.

Kia Stinger 3.3 GTS (recently updated model). Test drove a couple of the first gen model before I spotted my GSF - although around 100bhp less, the max torque numbers of the stinger are pretty similar but available from not much above tickover making for a rapid car.  Performance (top speed and acceleration) figures are very similar to GTR and the stinger has a lot of oomph low down.

Lexus quality and V8 sound won the day (I owned a 2016 RX450H at the time) oh and I loved the colour (Azure) and look of the GTR. The latest Stinger has apparently upped the anti on the quality front,  has all the kit and more of the GSF and then there’s the 7year warranty. For non brand snobs it’s a cracking car and could well be my next.

I like the idea of owning the GSF as a future modern classic, but do question the viability of this with all the technological wizardry to go wrong on such a car  in the future (not like there’ll be a load of spares in breakers yards!!). Either way its a very hard act to follow.

I'll let you know what the new Stinger is like when mine arrives in a couple of months 🙂

  9. I got my MOT done at my local MrClutch for £29 a few weeks ago.

Used them a few times now and it has always been quick, easy and painless.

Unlike the 2 times I took my car to the main dealer where they listed the wrong shock as leaking, advisory for a leaking shock that they said "wasn't actually leaking but the technician is being overly cautious" and the usual engine cover and under tray obscuring components nonsense.

An established member on here had one for a good while and basically regretted getting it.

Established?  Don't think I have heard him described that way before 🙂

I agree though, RCF all the way, although it will be quite different to the Supra.

Purchaser and seller of the finest magic beans! 😆

I am a physiotherapist by degree, but the NHS is unfortunately a shambles and private work starts to become a weirdly lucrative scene if you want to be dishonest (not my MO) and charge through the nose for false promises, have also worked in the benefit system conducting assessments for UC and ESA - never again no matter how good the pay!!!

Investment opportunities is where I turn over the real pennies, property, cars, precious metals, stock market, Lego (no joke), anything that I could turn a profit on I'll give it a once over, started as a side thing and kinda exploded into real money making.

I am also on the same page as @Arnett, I live off a spreadsheet, which may appear to take the fun out of things but I am able to maximise money available to endulge by creating strict budgets around needs/ wants of everyday things and sticking to them/ improving them.

I've heard from a few US owners on insta, this makes the car undriveable unless in the perfect weather condition, so I didn't fancy blowing the money and ruining the car.

Perhaps I should come and see about the pain in the neck I have been experiencing 🙂

Well, it sounds like you are very good at making money from investments.  Personally, I have a very bad habit of opening and building the Lego I buy 🙂

I think it was an outrageous management decision at NASA which failed the Challenger Paul.

The advice from Morton Thiokol was "DON`T FLY" as the O ring was not designed to be operative at such low temperatures as were in evidence on the morning of the flight. .

If I recall correctly, it was also Thiokol management that shared the blame as they pressured their engineers to change their minds during the meeting with NASA.

I agree though that NASA is ultimately to blame though as they should have listened to the warnings.
