  1. For anyoneone interested this site gives the recalls for all makes http://www.theaa.com/allaboutcars/recalls/index.jsp. Realspeed
  2. Just picked up the car from Lexus Wolverhampton. Talking to the service manager and he says that they have had 4 cars in within the last week with the same fault all RX300SE-L. So I asked if Lexus were doing a recall( which they are not) and it seems that the sensors have had a modification done and the are in short supply. As each car has apparentely 4 of these sensors it appears that due to the shortage of stock dealers are waiting for owners to report the fault, then having them in to do the replacements. Realspeed
  3. Thanks Wam I shall be most interested if there is. Realspeed
  4. Wam Seems there may be a general fault with this sensor unit, maybe someone on here who is in contact with lexus can look into the matter further. Could well be the case for a recall for RX300 SE-L's that were made or sold around the Sept 2004 era. Realspeed
  5. Wam You have repeated my posting, think you may have not put your message on instead. By the way I have been informed the part will be replaced and car back tomorrow (Monday) fingers crossed. Realspeed
  6. Stu I have PM you about the above. he can also sort out for you about domain names etc and costs Realspeed
  7. Thats not all a Lexus RX300 can pull I bet, :winky: Realspeed
  8. The loan car was under the RAC breakdown cover which comes with new Lexus free of charge, so guess i'm lucky to have a car even in that class, even though technically the car had not broken down it was still drivable if you like driving as if on the side of a hill. Realspeed
  9. Just had the breakdown people come to pick up my RX 300 SE-L because the air suspension failed, and the car looked like a drunken tart. The nearside was up in the air and the offside on its lowest setting, and it managed to do it all by its self. For those interested it is only 8 mths old with just over 6000 miles on the clock. Does anyone know if there is a general problem with the air suspension or is it a one off. Not what one would expect from a company like Lexus with an expensive car, ok its under warantee and Lexus Wolverhampton have been most helpful, lets hope they can fix the car quickly as I only have a Saab 95 as a loan car. 11. Can I put another point of view about doors that lock above a certain speed. There is no way would I ever have a car that did that, imagine being in a crash and people outside the car trying to get you out, with doors locked it could mean the difference between life and death. Ok bit over dramatic you may say, but it does/could happen. I would much rather have cars that you can lock if you want or not, after all how much effort is it to push the lock button if thats what a driver wants. I do think that there comes a point where things being done automatically does tend to be a bit over the top. To think when I started driving widow wipers were worked of vacuum from the engine(put your foot down and they stopped working altogether), radios were an expensive luxury and heating was just a small radiator with hot water passing through it. Not forgetting that ladies thought the choke button when pulled out was for hanging handbags on (sorry Ladies had to get that one in) I am talking about a 100e Ford Anglia 1954 model that had 3 forward gears and reverse with a side valve 1172cc engine which was my first car, boy how things have moved on since then. 13. I would advice going to a main dealer may be a little more expensive but you do get a 1 yr warrantee and the car should be up to Lexus standards as they are checked out by them before resale. Obviously a full service history is a must. Would suggest going onto the main lexus web site- www.Lexus.co.uk- and go to the used car section. Have a look at prices, milage etc. it may well pay to go a dealer out of town if the car on offer is better priced. I had a MK 1 RX300 SE ok it was from new but a 2001 model and had no problems with it , only pt/ex it for the MK2 RX 300 SE-L after having one as a loan car and fell in love with the newer version. Do try to get one with SAT NAV may be on CD against the latest DVD version but well worth it. Apart from that it is only a matter of personal choice as to colour, etc but once you have one I doubt if you will ever go for another make. Apart from buying one I have found the backup ie service, etc is the best of any make at least with the local dealer near me here in the West Midlands. Realspeed
  14. May I give this reminder, it is a legal requirement that a dog must be restrained away from the driver in a vehicle. Therefore I would suggest a dog mesh crate so the dog can still see whats going on but is contained, The advantage also is no sticky nose prints on the window. As for having a dog between 2 children in the back seat because they like it, I have to say that for the short time the dog is in the car, I would have thought it was not impossible for the children to live with the dog being in the back cargo area. 15. I have found that it does depend a lot on fuel grade, but also the difference between driving at say 60 mph and 80 mph does alter the fuel consumption considerably. Needless to say when I did my journey I did not have to hurry as it was a day out for me, so took it easy. Realspeed

  17. I have just come back from a 350 round trip via Motorways -A roads- and country lanes and got 32.5 mpg from my RX300 SE-L. Realspeed
  18. Had RX300 MK1 Now got MK2 SE-L RX300 So far no paintwork problems and fuel economy around houses now engine has run in about 21/22mph around the houses and 30+ mph on motorways. It does depend on the way you drive maybe more than on other cars. it really does pay to be light footed and leaving for a destination a few minutes earlier can make all the difference. Would I swap ? nope! quite happy with the car I got and knowing the Lexus care to back it up would be silly to go for anything else. Realspeed

  22. Can anyone tell me if the new RX300SE-L year 2005 model has Traffic Avoidance Advance Warning System. I know it has bluetooth etc as per published speck, but no mention of traffic avoidance. At the moment my late 2004 model doesn't have bluetooth , and that doesn't worry me too much, but if Traffic Avoidance is in the new spec then I may upgrade. Thank in advance Realspeed
  23. Must have forgotton me then got my Rx300 SE-L last Septemeber or I got a goodun. realspeed

  25. Never ever have a BMW X5, or any other BMW the sales people are rubbish they cannot even meet agreed test drive dates , 3 times and 20 minutes wait each time and they denied ever booking one. took 5 month even for a test drive and 14 month wait to get new X5. The couldn't care less attitude, take it or leave it, is not what I expect when purchasing a car for well over £40,000 . BMW LEAVE WELL ALONE realspeed
