  3. Don't bother mate - they charge 60 odd quid for nothing. If she has advertised her car in Auto trader or x&m you will get half a dozen calls from people all offering the same thing.
  4. I have purchased 2 cars now that have carried an RAC check and both of them had faults that should have been easily picked up. They are only as good as the guy doing it and wouldn't seperate with the cash personaly. If you have no idea what to look for I suppose they are OK but most faults show up on a test drive or when you poke about under the bonnet.
  5. Hi Folks, Since my post from a couple of days ago where my car was acting odd I have been keeping an eye on a few things - one thing being MPG. I put 22 litres of Optimax in the car yesterday and that has taken me 87 miles , which is less than 20mpg. My route for the above was M4 j11 - j8/9 3 times with some cross country driving needing to make 4 stops to pick up bits and bobs. Now I am not a sedate driver but I should be getting a little bit more than 19 and a bit mpg shouldn't I.

  7. Tis not the belt chaps - if you recall a couple of weeks back I had to get a shorter belt after putting on the new manifold. The belt that is on there now is a 788 which = no room for slippage. A slipping belt is usually acompanied by a noise as I have had the issue before. On these 2 occasions there has been no noise, just a massive lurch.
  8. Hello all. Twice while driving yesterday my car misbehaved. I was on WOT at around 5,000 rpm and all power seemed to cut and the car lurched as if I had slammed on the anchors. Liffted off of the throttle and all was fine. No lights on the dashboard, no horrible clonking or rattling noises and it hasn't done it since. Anyone have any idea what may have caused this??   9. Still unsure as to why the standard belt will no longer fit but have sorted it out by purchasing a shorter one. All would appear to be OK now Many thanks for your suggestions :D
  10. Any bolt mate. If you put a washer in between the cradle and the manifold it distorts the cradle. I could force the cradle to bolt the charger on but do not want it to snap under the stress and vibration when driving the car. If you think all will be OK, I will put the washer back. I know that with the washer in place, the belt would probably tighten up. I thought at one point last night I had the belt tight but on inspection I had the belt over the edge of the pulley, so a 2mm or 3mm washer would probably take up the slack Which brings me on to a thought - Dave or Matt. Is the plate of the manifold thinner than the original as this is the only thing that has changed.
  11. Done that mate and it warps the cradle so you can't bolt the charger to it

  13. Could the belt have stretched or does it need replacing? Are there any shorter ones available?
  14. Tensioner is on the right side of the belt mate - as in the belt is on the right hand side of the tensioner.

  16. OK Chaps Since fitting the Prolex manifold, my supercharger belt will not tighten. I can push the tensioner as far forward as poss and the belt is still slack. Took it off and put it on again and tis still the same. Why could this be??
  17. My gauge reads 4.5 psi to a needles width over 5 psi

  21. Sipey: Which direction/time etc do you navigate the M4? I head eastbound J11 to J7 about 7.30 to 8.00 and westbound the reverse about 16.30 to 17.00. ← Miss you by half an hour mate each way - though I spotted you a few months back on the Volvo roundabout in Early :)
