  1. Do it all the time mate. Always used to post in the 'was it you' forum. See so many on a daily basis now though that I don't bother unless the car is modded. Saw 3 IS's on the M4 this morning - Platinum V plate with TTE kit, 51 plate Granite with TRD kit and a 02 plate Black IS, there are also 4 IS's (2 Red and 2 Blue) and 2 (Blue) GS's in the works car park.
  2. Doing the same I do every year and going out.
  3. I changed mine at about 98k mate and it was fecked. It was slipping forward as the tensioner was knackered so it was rubbing on the inside of the cam cover. The belt was about 60% worn the chap who changed it stated I was very luck that it hadn't snapped. Funny thing was though that both Lexus Brackell and Reading had the car in for services and not picked up on it. There were no undue noises so my mechanic and I were both very suprised when we saw the state of the belt.
  4. To follow Bazza's suggestion 2000 IS200SE Supercharger fitted at 88,000 Covered 33,000 miles with the charger Serviced by an independent garage Problems: None
  5. A was considering a Merc as my next car Aido. I was looking at a CLK55 AMG. Here is a quote from a member on a Merc owners club when I enquired about them: "Hi there The prices of these depends a lot on the condition of them as a lot of them have had a hard life. I reckon between £18k-£25k would be a fair price depending on condition. Look out for rust on the arches, boot, under the door rubbers and pretty much anywhere else you can think of! Some Mercs of that era are known to decay quite badly (I think I am one of the lucky ones no signs on mine yet!). Mechanically all that has gone on mine has been the MAF which shows itself by a dramatic loss in performance, these are about £250 from a dealers to replace. Best thing to do would be to test drive a couple so you can get an idea on how they shoud perform. 0-60 wise they are not the quickest things off the mark but its their overtaking ability, the way they keep accelerating to the limiter (where permitted ) and the sound they make that puts a big smile on your face Go for a test drive and I am sure you will be hooked!" The fact they rot like bar stewards put me right off. I have gone out for a second test drive in an Alpina today. I was originally looking at an M5 but this car is absolutely beautiful - Alpina B10 V8. As long as Mr Bank Manager is kind to me and the car doesn't get purchased by anyone else by the weekend, I will be putting a deposit on it.
  6. Nicce phone but are not robust. I have had 3 of them in 4 months - my boss has also had 3 in 4 months, my colleague sitting opposite me is on her 2nd in 3 months. Problems 1/ Hinge on the flip broke 2/ Charging jack broke 3/ - one I am on now - regularly turns itself off and then on again.
  7. Was looking to swap to an R33 about 8 months ago. Looked around and found a couple of dealers who speacialised in Skylines - one in Bourne End and another near Chertsey. All of the ones I took out drove nice enough. But that was the problem - they were merely OK. And I am not a fan of the R33 interior. Add to the fact that I really wanted an R34 GTR but couldn't afford one and I walked away feeling a little disappointed. I have been looking at other cars over the last few months. Looked at Supras which I would have in a heartbeat if I didn't have a couple of kids to try and squeeze in the back. Looked at Celicas which again are very nice but I would always feel that I had to settle for second best as I couldn't get the Supra. The only car that I have taken out which ticks all the right boxes is an M5, so I am now saving for that.
  8. I don't have a scoop in the bonnet - though it is vented in the hope of allowing some of the heat out. I have boxed my filter in and run pipework to it via the grill at the side of the fog light. I have no idea on a thermofluid dynamics point of view if it makes a difference or not :D but it looks good and seems to make the whine from the charger a little louder
  9. This is from the sellers feedback mate: junk, bought vehicle emblems, rain made coating come off no response from seller Buyer pwill ( 33) Aug-13-05 20:19 7981664150 Emblems tarnish and color rubs off. Doesn't respond to emails Buyer viperbryian ( 223) Aug-12-05 15:12 7975187028
  10. I'd say you have a problem if it sounds like that mate. I would say that their service is over rated, I have not had a good experience yet.
  11. You do a lot of miles mate, you fitted yours after me didn't you!? You'll have to think about the SC service soon at TTE, think that's due at 60k? Over the last 4 years I have averaged 45k per year mate. Running around in my other halfs car at the moment while my car is getting some work done. In the last 5 weeks I have put 4028 miles on her car.
  12. As others have said mate - you will be fine. I supercharged mine at 87/88 and it is now on 128. Not missed a beat.

  14. How much does the train cost you. Anytime I want to go anywhere I am looking at a minimum of 20 quid return.
  15. I am fortunate enough to claim back pretty much all the mileage I do at 40p per mile. Even if I didn't, I still wouldn't get rid of the car. There is nothing else for the money that I like that isn't as juicy or more so. Haven't driven my car for the past 5 weeks as it is having a bit of work done. In this time I have been driving Tanya's 1.7 Civic Coupe. Whilst it is a nice car - she has had it chipped, lowered, kitted, etc it doesn't eat the miles as easy as the Lexus. Tis not as quick, nor comforatble or refined. The only car I am considering next is an M5 provided my car allowances increases.
  16. Should be able to come Claire Me, Tanya and the 2 Kiddies :)
  17. Or the sales person is looking to put 500 quid in their back pocket
  18. I have used that bit but the hole in it is larger than the pipe supplied. The gauge does not bounce all of the time - only when the car has been running for 10 minutes. Switch off and turn back on again immediately and it does not bounce - this is what I cannot understand. Could it be a problem with the throttle - I took the pipe off of the back of the gauge and rather than a steady airflow it pulses - which is what is causing the gauge to bounce.
  19. Yep, tiny little gromit type thing shaped like <> with a hole through it It be an AC gauge mate
  20. I did Mat but there aint no way it will fit in the pipe - the pipe goes through the brass thing
  21. Welcome back Aido mate. Good luck with the tests. I have my last round of tests this week then off to San Fransico - again.
  22. lower pipe down near the throttle cable Mat
  23. .3 bar Fargo matey which is around 4.5 psi
  24. Evening all. Quick question for anyone that may know an answer. I have recently fitted a boost gauge to me brum brum. All is fine in the first 10 mintues but then the needle starts to bounce. On acceleration the needle moves swiftly to 5 psi and stays there until gear change. When changing gear it shoots down to 23 in vacuum, before climbing again to 5 psi - again nice and steady. The problem is at idle. When you first start the car the needle holds steady in vacuum at 20. But after 10 minutes or so it bounces between 14-22. Also, when pootling with your foot on the throttle maintaing a steady speed it will bounce in the same range. Any ides peeps - all suggetions greatly welcomed :)

    Puncture

It can be repaired but as many have experienced, it is hard to find anyone that will do it that close to the edge. You will probably be looking at a new tyre mate.
