  1. Very nice matey, waiting for a pair of them myself :)
  2. Have to say after driving through the snow this morning that the IS is............................... No worse than any other RWD car I have driven - why are people having so much trouble. I see a few comments about "i was driving at 50 and lost it" and "my tyres are worn out", well what do you expect people. Then again, I do have a boot full of absolute ******* ie, 2 push chairs, car cleaning stuff, bag of potato's that I picked up from the local farm yesterday, toys, etc which could have helped but the most helpful thing is good tyres and a light right foot.
  3. When I got mine fitted, my insurance went up by 90 quid a year. They charged me more for lowering and putting ifferent wheels on than they did the charger.
  4. I think the same goes for Red. I can't stand red but the IS does look good in scatty red. I like the yellow matey, a bloke near me has one. I have black at the moment and would trade in for yellow. Personal choice and all that.
  5. Nice lookin car but is it a sport???? Looking at the pedals and the steering wheel would suggest it's an SE with aftermarket pedals
  6. It's not just the Saxo brigade though is it Rodders. In fact a few years ago the most deaths attributed to any one single group where the 50 something males as they were the most likely to drink drive. Over the past 12 months there have been 3 deaths amongst my family and friends, all of them knocked down and not one of them were due to speeding, and not one of the drivers were in their teens or driving a max power heap. We all speed, and we all know we do. Whether we are late for work, in a bad mood or pre-occupied. OK, the more wise amongst us do not do it outside of schools, but get a group of us together and see how many people stick to the speed limit. How many posts have appered on this forum saying I just blew away an R32 or I raced a cossie last night or theres a meet on such and such a date and there are some excellent roads near by wink wink. I just think there are much better ways than this of addressing the problem
  7. WTF Waste of time and money, but worst of all insensative and stupid. What drunken monkey dreamed that one up, should be sacked.
  8. If it is the same problem mine had then it is the top hose that goes from the rad to the header tank. In my case Lexus Br****** snapped the spout off that goes into the bottom of the header tank then wanted 200 quid to replace it - ****ERS. I just went to a DIY shop and got a 10mm pipe connector, placed that in the hole and sealed it. Hasn't leaked since
  9. I have done Maidenhead to Croyd Bay in 2 hours 53 mins. But that was at 3 in the morning, I knew where I was going and I was no where near 70mph. If you are going in the day you have the wonders of the M5. As long as there are no road works you are OK. I would alow 4.5 - 5 hours matey
  10. I voted IS300 matey as you asked if I were in YOUR Nike Shocks. At 22 and single, there would be no need for the GS and, as nice as it is to drive, it as all the poise and handling of a rice pudding compared to the IS. If I had to choose for ME it would be the GS. I know I am only a couple of years older than your good self but I have a couple of kiddies. Plus one has just started school and I now appear to be running other peoples kiddies around. My own personal choice and next car is neither of those 2 though
  11. Lip - I've got the small M3 style one that Aido mentioned and am very happy with it :)
  12. When your born with a knackered lung, chronic asthma and a hole in the heart, you tend to stay away from anything that will make you feel worse than you do on a daily basis anyway. So, never have, never will.
  13. I'd hate to go shopping with you matey, your worse than my missus :P You obviously prefer the Kei's over the RS4's so buy them, both wheels would look good
  14. I got an independent to change the belt, at least I know it was done. All the Lexus centres near me would probably miss the book and stamp the table cause they can't do **** all else right. As has been said before, do you spend the extra $ everytime you have a service in the hope of retaining $1,500 of resale value? Either way and over time you are probably left on a pretty level playing field whatever you decide. Just had my 100k done for $230 inc belt and tensioner.
  15. Due to go to San Francisco at some point but if it is not that weekend then you can count me in.
  16. I agree with Colin. Everone told me last December not to move as prices were heading downwards. Well, just over a year on my house has increased by 38k. If I wanted to move into the same house today, I wouldn't have been able to. Not only that, people are predicting the market to flatten and not fall, as Colin has also mentioned. Even if prices do fall you have to look at: 1/ How much by? - Most analysts are saying around 2-3% 2/ Where are you looking to buy? The locations seen to be flattening off or falling slightly tend to be the already over priced areas anyway. 3/ Is there an actual fall in price or are we seeing more realistic prices being advertised? We all know that a house is only worth what a) someone is prepared to pay for it and B) what the surveyour values it at on inspection. In many instances just because a house is advertised at 250,000 doesn't mean that is what it sells for. I think that we can all agree that as long as you are sensible with working out your monthly repayments based on future interest rate predictions, even if your property does take a bit of a hit, it has always and will always recover. Supply and demand thing. In Berkshire alone 400,000 new houses have to be built by 2010 in order to keep up with demand.
  17. There are many different mortgages on offer these days. Many lenders still restrict themselves to 2.5 joint but there are others that will do 3x main salary plus 1x the second. There are also self certification mortgages - companies will lend you any amount of money, with no proof of earnings as long as you have a minimum of 20% deposit. If you were to go down this route you would need to make sure you can afford the monthly repayments. Also, don't base affordability on interest rates now, make sure you can still afford it if the interest rates were to hike to 7%-8%. Then you have longer term mortgages. You can repay over as much as 35 years, but the amount of interest paid over this period is rather steep. I would reckon your 4,000 would probably be in the 6,300 - 7,000, depending on how it has been invested. Now I have no idea of the prices of properties in your area matey, nor what you’re earning but if you look at 6,500 as deposit you can: Lay down a 10% deposit and get a mortgage for 58,500. With current interest rates you would be looking at 385 per month on a repayment mortgage over 25 years or 304 per month for an interest only mortgage over 25 years or Lay down a 5% deposit and get a mortgage for 123,500. Again with current interest rates you would be looking at 813 per month on a repayment mortgage over 25 years or 643 per month for an interest only mortgage over 25 years. Other things to consider are stamp duty, currently 1% of the value of the house if the house is less than 250k. You would probably need 500 squid for solicitors’ fees and what ever furniture removal costs would add up to - anything between 300-700, depending on what you got. There are plenty of websites out there for you to punch figures into. The best I have found in my last 3 moves has been www.charcol.co.uk - click on the charcol online bit to go through to mortgage calculators. If you want matey I can put you in touch with some very good IFA's. Just give me a shout if you need any assistance.
  18. I used to work for the largest auto dialler company in the world and have worked in b2b call centres. Even if the companies are calling off shore, UK law still applies so they can still be fined Just because you are TPS registered doesn't mean that every organisation is up to date with who is and is not on the latest list - not ever organisation subscribes to it - especially American owned companies. Whenever you sign up for a new service, mobile phone, bank account, make sure all the boxes are ticked for not getting future marketing calls. Random number dialling is illegal and companies can be proesectued for using such methods. Outbound IVR's are also illegal. If a company launches a call they must make sure that there is a person, not recorded message, to connect to. If there is no-one available, the call must be dropped within 1 second - Kitchens Direct have recently been fined 5,000,000 for "silent calls". I subscribe to caller id at 4 squid a quarter, if the number is witheld - I don't answer it, this has by far proved to be the best method for avoiding unwanted calls. There are times however I do answer them - especially when I have had a particularly bad day.
  19. I don't have much respect for traffic cops but that does not mean that I don't respect the law. You knew they were ilegal matey and I am sure you knew that at some point you were bound to be stopped. Just be pleased you didn't get a ticket. Don't shoot me, just my opinion.
  20. When I needed the geometry check I phoned 4 Lexus dealers. The price ranged from 45 squid to an unbelievable 215 - all for the same thing. Not that I would ever take my car back to Lexus as they are all useless. After I took my car for its last service I had to take it back to get air bled out of the coolant, only to find last week that the idiots have broken my header tank - which of course they deny. I had my cam belt changed 2 weeks ago by an independent mechanic. For a car that has been regularly serviced by Lexus the old belt was in a terrible state and was a wonder that it hadn't snapped long ago. I thought these were inspected on every service. I shall get some pictures of it up now I have a new computer. There is no way on gods’ earth anyone can say a belt degraded as much as this in the 3 months since my last service - it's half the width and resembles fibre glass cladding. And if anyone remebers the service I had prior to that at Bracknell where they didn't actually bother carrying the service out at all, then I have to ask the following question: Are these “Technicians” that have to be trained to "Lexus standards", trained by carrying out work on customers cars, And if it were trainees that have serviced my car on the last 2 occasions, why did I pay full price????
