  1. This is he closest I have to a straight on side profile shot. Inside it doesn't make it feel much darker, looking outwards it's less noticeable than looking from the outside in, does that make sense? When I look back it's noticeable the tints are there but it certainly doesn't make it feel clostrophobic. The 35% is a relative light weight.
  2. Arqum, thanks I'm happy. I asked my insurance company about this before doing it to be sure and for me at least it had no effect, as you say it could be different for other providers. Can't imagine it would be a big price hike though surely? As for worrying about the work, all I can say is make sure you're happy with who you select to do the work. I was more than happy with the treatment and care taken by LM.
  3. Hi, I test drove the Mesa red in Manchester and it is a very nice car but it isn't a facelift and doesn't have the LSD as such is overpriced. Manchester were keen to throw in warranties and service packages however so might be worth a haggle. I actually bought one of the 'in between' models, a black 2010 car, blue bottom steering wheel, LSD, cream interior but no DRL's and the older style dash layout. The important thing for me was the LSD, would be nice to have the sport button on the steering wheel but if that's all I can complain about it can't be so bad...
  4. Two of my jobs for the week ticked off: service ✅ tints ✅ Few pics of the new tints, really like them, OEM look not to dark. This is the 35% grade, full UV protection for the kids to. Lovely job done by LM window tints in Corby, very professional, skilled and friendly, big thumbs up for them.
  5. I would have bought the Mesa red I looked at in Manchester prior to buying mine if it had the light interior. I loved it.
  6. Somewhat amazingly having not seen an ISF on the road in a few years I spotted a Mesa Red parked up outside Starbucks in my home town of Market Harborough today. I believe it was a private plate but had the later design wheels and cream interior, looked stunning. Is the owner a member here? Reg: F111 SHU not sure if I should post that but don't see the harm. Be great to know if there's another owner in my area. If anyone objects to the picture or number plate details please let me know and I'll take it down.
  7. Some owned at same time as others and a few bikes to, not listed race cars but you can tell by the dips in the road car standards when I had these :-) Largely chronologically ordered. Piaggio typhoon Benetton Peugeot 309 diesel Peugeot 306 D-Turbo Honda CBR400 repsol Honda Civic VTI Westfield/Lotus twin cam Fiesta 1.3 Vauxhall Frontera 1956 Landrover series 2A lightweight Sylva Striker Suzuki SV 650s Toyota MR2 mk1, turned into a race car Toyota MR2 mk2 Ford Econovan - aus import VW passat VW polo 1.3 CL KTM 990 Superduke Toyota Celica T-sport Lotus Elise R Mazda 6 2.2 sport Mazda RX8 R3 Audi S3 - 406bhp Lexus ISF Phew quite a list considering I've only been driving since 1998.
  8. So I have a busy but productive week commencing the 29th March. Tuesday she goes into Lexus for a service and software update, Thursday I have local leather repair specialist coming to refurb my driver side seat base and back bolster just to perfect the interior and Friday I am heading to LM window tinting to have the back half tinted in OEM 15%. The tinting isn't for the look, it's actually not my cup of tea but the kids come first and it keeps the glare down in the back for them. Fair to say I'm looking forward to it :-)
  9. Ooo excuse to show a lovely beading shot :-) I am an obsessive car cleaner so having a black car with light interior suits me just fine. I'm a sad sad man... Still not finished my detail but the one layer of Collinite 476s will last until I have chance
  10. Toothy, from my understanding in my discussions with Lexus the update is a full software update to latest version which includes maps. I wonder if I understood incorrectly... I'll call them tomorrow to be sure
  11. I read the same that the had is updated via memory stick but from what I was told by Lexus it has to be done by them, here is no way to get the file online. Maybe there are some hacked versions around but I personally couldn't risk turning my Nav into a brick. In this instance I'll take the pain...
  12. Arqum, Thanks very much this is why I love forums. It appears I have an INFO TEL so I'm HDD based. Looks like I'm in for an update and associated cost this time then, guess I will re-evaluate the necessity year on year considering the price. Thanks again
  13. I'd like to call on the collective knowledge or the LOC for query I have. I believe I have the HDD based NAV system and having checked this it appears to be running 2009/10 software which is of course somewhat out of date. I have her booked into Lexus for a service on the 1st March so called them to see how much it would be to update the system with the latest software and maps. I have been quoted £143.16 + VAT, does anyone know if this then allows for future free updates as per the later models in the range receive through the Lexus owners portal. I would hate to be paying out this cost year on year just for a Nav system. Thanks
  14. Brilliant, exactly the same situation as I found myself in this week, looks like a similar level of correction was needed to. Amazing to see just how bad (even with lots of care) a car can get. Unfortuately we are are stuck with soft as marshmellow paint so it will mark up easily. Top work.
  15. GibletPH, the very nice lady on the phone asked if I wanted to sign up to the service plan and is sending me a quote across via mail. She did mention that it would include a 15% discount for club membership so looks like you may be able to drop it some... For everyone's info they are also still doing the 24months for price of 12 on extended warrenty, asked for a quote for that also. If you can get a club discount on that to it would be incredible.
  16. Does anyone know of Lexus have just dropped their servicing costs? I am sure last week and intermediate service was up at £365 (or something in that region) but this week the intermediate service is down at £295. Quite possible I just read it wrong previously. Anyway I have the Lex booked in for a health check and intermediate service on the 1st March at Leicester with the 15% club discount (which is nice), also going to have the Software and Nav updated as I noticed its still on a 2010 version. Car was actually serviced on sale by Ford but I asked them not to stamp the book and reduce the price by an additional £500 to cover it and I would get it serviced by Lexus.
  17. At the moment I'm favouring Sonus products, work very well I find. I have 3 grades of pad and use Sonus sfx-1,2 and final cut/glaze in different combos depending. I have a suite of waxes but for black I favour either my swissvax onyx or Victoria concourse. In winter I use Collinite 476s. It's mega stuff, not easy to work but lasts forever. Doesn't have to lustre or depth of he others but love the stuff. I should mention I tried the Victoria wax on this after just the 1 pass polish and it looked terrible mainly as it can only deal with a perfect paint finish. That's why the SRP worked well in this instance. edit: I use a pretty basic DAS-6 pro Dual action polisher
  18. Very very soft, it cut very easily in comparison. The S3 was really hard, had to work the panel hard to get some heat in it otherwise you barely touched it. The Lex will be pretty easy I think, relatively. The pro-tuition is great, did it a few years ago with Prestige Detailing in Luton it was worth it's weight. I've probably saved myself £1k or so in detailing costs since then so well worth it. I find it quite therapeutic and certainly rewarding.
  19. I will do it myself, a full enhancement will take me 2 days from this point but when I have a weekend with good weather I'll get it done. Today was just stage one, and I'm sure she's a lot happier for it. I managed to kill off about 60% of the swirls with the one pass DA today, obviously not happy with that, just time i need to find to do it.
  20. I did promise that a detail would be one of the first items on my to do list. You never really know a car until you've given it a proper clean up. Turns out the paint is in pretty bad fettle, not marked or damaged just neglected its been treated to an 'average joe' care car regime I suspect. There is only one area I suspect has had a patch/scratch repair and thats on the back drivers side corner, in bright light you can just see a haze under the lacquer where its been blanded in. I might have the bumper painted to get rid of this but no hurry. So the process begins... as the saying goes 'you cant conquer Rome in a day' so today was stage 1. The paint was so dry it pained me and felt like very light sandpaper to the touch It was going to be a long but enjoyable day Quick pressure wash off the onto the Snowfoam, obligatory snowfoam shot... Two bucket wash and dry, wheels treated to Pro valet Bilberry wheel cleaner This is the paint after the wash before I started working on it, warning, explicit paint damage pics coming up, if you have a weak stomache look away now... A not so quick Clay...damn these are big cars compared to an S3 Wash off, and out comes the DA for a once over. Medium pad, heavy cut compound just to kill off the big stuff as a temporary until I have more time. Apply large amounts of polish full of fillers - Autoglym SRP Top off will Collinite 476s and this is what you end up with. You just have to know which products work in which situations. If you have knackered paint a polish full of fillers will work wonders. I will finish the detail at in the not so distant future I promise.
  21. I don't mind paying the right money for the right car. Good to know I was about right with it though. Thanks
  22. Not cheeky, I think everyone on here will know what these go for more or less. I didn't actually know it was down at that price originally but I paid £25k on the nose. I was happy to pay that looking at others
  23. Run home was most enjoyable despite it raining. Very happy with it though, looking forward to a dry day. As it was so wet didn't manage any hoonery but did a 27.2mpg half motorway half a road, better than expected. Sure this will plummet with a bit of right foot :-)
