  1. So Gents it appears we may have a mini mini meet on our hands on Thursday (19th) up and around the Warrington / Chester area. Just thought I would update in this thread (apologies once again for the hijack) to see if we have any other owners in the area looking to join myself and Warrington guy for an hour or so. No location agreed yet. Great to see what we can do. Whether its of interest or not but I stay in the Hilton Double tree just outside Chester that has very pleasant grounds and a huge car park... nice bar to, which of course serves coffee and soft drinks Should also add that I'm happy to drive to wherever is decided. Above just an option.
  2. Sound like we might be able to get something together here. Warrington guy, as I'm not a local any suggestions for a nice we drive out and a meet up location? Once I have an idea of a location I'll post up in the meets section and stop spamming up Butchs thread.
  3. Second that Gib... 😀 Welcome Butchs, always good to welcome a new member. so on a side note I work up in Liverpool in the week presently has to be worth organising a mini meet in the Cheshire area. Any nigght mid week I can be there. Be great to meet a few like minded owners
  4. Beauty! The work on that exhaust is incredible, I'm jealous of your exhaust and your garage.
  5. Looks a beauty, dont want to hijack your thread but.... my 71 is presently in the workshop for a full bare shell resto. Chassis and pan is complete, Engine build back to a standard 1.3 is pretty much complete, full interior retrim is complete, just panel replacement and paint then she can go back together. Hopefully be done before the end of summer... Looking rather sorry for herself at the minute though... This is all thats left...nah not really but cant find my other pics...
  6. I have a sort spot for Tom's. Built absolutely sublime Tom's Toyota F3 engines (few years ago now), they were heads an shoulders above the competition back in the early 2000's.
  7. Excellent another Black F owner. Must be the season to be buying cars, it was really quiet with new owners over winter and now... Looks great. still very much enjoying mine 3 months down the line.
  8. Now do I add this to my list of parts to test? Hmmm, I do like the idea of the TOM's. Anyone know if its a dry filter or oiled? Tried The Tom's website but of course its mainly in Japanese...not so hot on my Japanese. Ok found it, its a dry type filter..should have searched harder before asking.
  9. Great choice, another Black ISF owner :-) Is that front grill actually black or is it the light? Mine is like a dark chrome colour. Looks smart either way...
  10. Lovely, they do look extra special in the trademark Blue. Go put some miles on her and enjoy the ride
  11. After all this I should be able to give you a fair idea of what (if anything) has been gained with the HPS and panel. It is a lot of trouble to go to but as value adding to the community I hope its worth while. I suppose it wont change much as I am sure my methods will be questioned (as I have questioned others) which after all is why I have to do this myself to be sure in my own mind. I am getting a taste for trying some other (lesser tried) items but all in due time.
  12. Another one of the variables not best understood and documented so I intend to check that out to Charlie.
  13. I was booked on for the dyno Monday coming but then had last minute meeting organised for me up in Teesside so had to cancel. I have three sets of parts to test now, standard, HPS with K&N filter and my own design...well really it's a hybrid of the HPS, RR-Racing and the CCS-R setups. Hopefully find a day soon to back to back dyno them.
  14. mrfunex, that is quite incredible, I do a lot of motorway but obviosly dont have your restraint in the right foot department, the lure of the M6 toll road blast is to much for me I am a complete geek so I log my fuel usage religiously, the best I have seen is an actual 32.5mpg average on a tank which I was impressed with. Overall overage is 26.64 which I still think is respectable. It even compares relatively favourably to my Audi S3 which in two years of ownership left me with an average of 31.82mpg. Cant really put them in the same league despite the Audi putting out 406bhp, the Lexus is other worldly by comparison.
  15. Looks good JLC, still dont have mine fitted but I'm waiting until I have chance for the dyno. Interesting that its a little louder, nice to make more of that lovely intake sound.
  16. Gearbox mapping for the VAG cars is very very common, I guess as with everything ISF its slow to come in due to low demand. Would be interested in a map for the Gearbox for sure. RR-Racing seem to be the main force behind F developments at the minute, I keep an eye on their site for updates.
  17. Mine is the HDD based system so no discs for me. The software update (as far as I am aware) is just for the multimedia system so it updates the Nav maps. phone connectivity, streaming, gracenote etc. I dont believe its an ECU or gearbox management update however it was a 4 hr process to complete which I was surprised about.
  18. For anyone who may be thinking about it, I had the F back at Lexus Leicester today for a software and Nav update. £158 inc VAT. I now have 2015-16 maps rather than the original 2009-10
  19. Whether its the same setup as the ISF I dont know but just received my car back from Lexus Leicester today having had the software updated. £158. Dealer update appears to be the only option available on the ISF HDD system.
  20. Ha, I think the box is more exciting than the contents. At least I now have the parts requried for my little experiment, now all I need is to find time for a few dyno runs. On receiving this I'm not so sure how it it will affect things, my initial concern over the HPS (perhaps unfounded) was that it is silicone and for its potential to 'pull in' and potentially reduce CSA under heavy load. Having had a squidge of the pipe its pretty soft despite its 4 ply construction, I may trial fit it, stick on a gopro and give the engine a little throttle blip to see if it sucks in at all. If it does it'll not be used at all as throttle response will be down. If this is the case i'll go back to the drawing board and maybe knock up a hard pipe as per the CCS-R and RR-Racing. As I say all speculation until I get chance to start playing, it may well be adaquately supported from the throttle body and airbox outlet. Lets wait and see.
  21. Ooo came sooner than I anticipated, the new edition from the other side of the pond has landed. Better get planning...
  22. I am sure going to try :-) I think the thing is I dont know what to believe on intakes, there is a lot of miss-information out there from both persepctives and the only way I can be sure is to do it my way and see what happens. What really peaked my curiosity is that Toyota/Lexus racing decided they could improve it on the CCS-R, I can only assume they dont do things for nothing. Maybe it is just to remove the breathers to make it more suitable for racing or maybe its more... Lets see if I can find out... I may fail spectacularly but if I dont try I'll never know and I'll always wonder. I'm only searching to sate my own curiosity and to be honest I really enjoy the process.
  23. I saw the RR-Racing unit which pretty much appears to replicate the CCS-R setup so must be close. I wonder how hard it would be to make my own breather bypass, it appears to be fuel line-esque, a t-piece and a standard K&N breather all readily available, I may well trial this as well. Would you mind taking some basic dimensions from the RR-Racing setup? I may be able to replicate this. I'd quite like to ape the CCS-R setup as appears to be a nice simple setup. It would simplify the intake pipe in removing the locators for the breather inlets, might even be able to end up with a simple 4-ply silicone 90deg elbow. All very interesting.
  24. I just came across something very striking but is perhaps old news to you seasoned owners. In investigating the intake system I came across the below picture of the ISF CCS-R which we know actually ran a well modified 2UR-GSE in its later guises yet still retained the factory airbox but with a straight inlet pipe to the throttle body and breather system removed. It made me think that perhaps the route I am going is the right one, the intake system cannot be that bad if Toyota's race arm retained it. I know we cant be sure whats going on iside the airbox but it was just an interesting discovery to me..
