I can't get the Lexus relax because my car is 2011 and classed as over 10 years old.

So option C is best I think. Getting it done cheaper and just get lexus to do a hybrid health check just to get the year cover.

Also I noticed a difference when calling Lexus, they seem to be told to mention certain things to customers and bombard you with lots of information like some sales people would do, it seems like they put their staff under pressure to mention these things when we the customers just want to know the answers to the questions we have on our minds. They even gave me the wrong price for the service and it was not until I asked about their service plan where they told me the made a mistake and they thought my car was 8 years old. I asked if I they did any discounts for NHS staff and they didn't know.

So my decision has been made, thanks for your help.

It depends when in 2011 your car was registered.I managed to get my in just in time for the original extended warranty.

No starter motor? How does the motor start to fill the battery?

No cam-belt? I know MB use chain instead of belt, but my old MR2 Spyder (same type engine 1.8) needed a new cam-belt.

Except from that. Absolutely correct. Nice car the CT.

The W30 MR2 used the 1ZZ FED engine 1.8.Much different to the CT 2ZR FXE.

I just bought a set of 4 chrome of ebay, nicer looking design came with a new key and compares better to the standard nut, not so in your face lol!

Looks like i,ll have to go this route and remove the Lexus ones for better quality ones.

  5. Yeah 2ZR FXE are chain driven and is modified to Atkinson cycle from the older 2ZR FE engine found in the older Corolla and Auris.Very old school engine but totally reliable and economical Just how i like it.

As said its fired up by the electric motor at a higher speed than a starter motor hence its instant start.

Even to pull the head off one of these is dead easy to do when you need to do a head gasket (so the Americans think haha) and strip the engine when it throws a rod out the side (yet again US fairytales).

  6. I,ve had a 2006 Skoda Octavia 1.9tdi previously for 7 years (since new).It was a great car and the best diesel engine VAG built.Excellent on motorways but also great round town. The only thing that went wrong in those years was the Dual Mass Flywheel (known problem) which was converted to a solid flywheel under warranty.I did 70K with that car getting around 55-60 mpg.

My CT is roughly the same mpg but overall using the Fuelly app i,ve had an all time best of 73mpg.Obviously mine is a pre facelift so its zero tax.Silly idea that the exact same car from 2017 on is £140 tax?

Overall i prefer the CT for its luxury and so comfortable. As said previously think about future repairs on diesels such as DPF,EGR,DMF.A friend of mine has a 2015 Nissan X Trail 1.6 diesel and its nothing but trouble with constant engine management lights and the DPF which can never complete its regen cycle.Unlike older reliable diesels all the new Gen diesels are just total trouble and a nightmare when they fail, which is often.

I,ve had my CT since new (2011) and have never had anything go wrong so far (110K miles).Think wisely before making your choice.

My 2012 CT has this antenna to the right of the mirror; however the DAB button does nothing. Do i require some manner of module?

Dealer wanted to charge me £450 fitted for this. It,s basically a plug and play set up with a module and internal antenna if reqiured.I,m not too bothered about it as i use my phone for the stations i want.

Mine is the same Paul, but I connect my phone via BT, I mainly listen to Talk Radio and it works fine, occasionally signal drops out but not often enough to be a pain.

Yeah me too i,m not bothered about the Lexus DAB as i have it all on my phone.
