  1. @emjay82 Mark me and @Mark G wanted to keep your piece and post it to you but as you can see @Flytvr was having none of it ☹️
  2. Hi Peter I like you did a lot of recent on the model prior to buying, with at the forefront of my mind that's it's a mechanical item subject to all the variables that come with car ownership, overall reliability and build quality came out of my research time and time again. I saw the steering rack issue on the American forums I think twice, water pumps simply weep but once replaced does not as far as my research takes me happen again, it's an improved design, in any event they do not simply fail. If you can stretch to a car with warranty, it is a good warranty, and when I look at the issues with the RS/M3/C63 alternatives I was considering I have no doubt I made the right decision. If you contact @Flytvr on here who has had the only rack issue he can tell you the details of how the fault manifests itself on the road, abling you to figure this into any road tests of cars that you find. Good hunting Big Rat
  3. Yes he has a certain charisma about him that's different to many of his profession, and a he does seem to have a large following But when it comes down to it he's getting paid by someone to say what they want him to say, looked what happened with him and Ferrari a while back, he was on a bit of sticky wicket there. Could have harmed him financially. I do wish them all well with the next Top Gear now the Ginger Winger has gone. Big Rat
  4. Resembles the rear of our washing machine last time I took the back off, sounded similar too! But I bet it shifts some and being super chargers good throttle response as well not my bag but each to their own 😬 Big Rat

  7. @Rusty Crobar Well because we are old, miserable, grey, but most of all it's FRIDAY 🤣 And anyway do you really want to present at what resembles a crappy episode of The last of the summer wine 😳 Big Rat
  8. Tom it's a comfortable car spacious an absolutely massive boot, it has 3 Phase damping and great seats. The engine is from the 2.0 Golf gti there is also a 1.8 petrol a couple of diesels and the V6 I enjoyed it reliable and fairly economical, you may struggle to find a V6 there aren't many about A car that's worth consideration IMO for a main stream manufacturer they are a bit different. 9. @Mark G Depends how big a slice of cake you buy tomorrow my ears can be bought, what say you Jose I mean @Flytvr 😂 Big Hungry Bribeable Rat
  10. That is quite a list Tom a real mix, the only one I've owned was Vw Passat cc 2.0TSI GT Manual petrol had it new in 2009, it got a lot of looks bit like a Cls Merc of that era, vast boot typical Fwd offerings. Also had the V6 version for a while they're alright for what they are only available as auto/dsg. As a drivers car don't know if your good lady is into it to that extent the only one that would interest me is the GT86 they have an appeal for me, never driven one but they have a good reputation......... and there's one on the tube with an ISF V8 dropped in 🤣 The rest of them the 3 Lexus yes, the rest........................☹️ Big Rat
  11. Read up a bit more on it this morning, right on both counts. 🐁
  12. @Flytvr He's the same as all motoring journalists, as likeable and talented petrol head that he is they are all in someone's pocket to a lesser or greater degree. Clarkson -Mercedes Harris - BMW/Porsche and so on..... Big Rat
  13. Regarding newly introduced models by any manufacturer you care to name they all do it, the remainder of the vehicle testing is carried out by Joe public, at least that's what the cynical side of me thinks. One of the worst it would appear to fail to carry out detailed long term testing is Porsche, perhaps not in the last 2-3 years but it is well evidenced they were guilty of this from the late 90's to about 2009. Ive said it before German car quality being superior to others is a myth. Big Rat
  14. @MNMJ you've had three now there is a man with consistent taste ! Big Rat
  15. Yes @Rusty Crobar here's one of your public coming for a little chat about you and your cannons and an unpaid expensive hotel bill 😂
