  1. Paul you are right on both counts, Lexus do seem to be happy to be different which is to be congratulated The grilles personally I love but that is a personal opinion, the interiors instruments and so on make the other manufacturers look very yesterday at times, it's great. Long may it last Big Rat
  2. As I have mentioned in some previous threads on tyres, I did development work for Michelin for what was then the suitability of there tyres for Police Pursuit type vehicles, all the way down to general purpose vehicles. Vehicles used for high speed instructional work driver training etc. They are a very good quality brand, who spend vast sums of money on R&D without going into boring detail I believe the best advice on tyres is buy the best you can possibly afford and drive accordingly. Dont exceed the limits of your ability or that of the vehicle and you cannot go far wrong. The most important thing you can do is maintain the correct pressure this paramount, check them frequently you look after them and they will look after you and your family and other road users for that matter. 3. Something for us to drool over naughty very naughty ! Big Rat oops wrong pic uploaded still lovely though !
  4. So @Rusty Crobar when you had finished your handiwork and you stood back to admire it, is this a good resemblance of you and the situation 😂 Big Rat
  5. A six cylinder petrol six just seem to suit a car the size of an IS, RC, from a purely driving perspective the power to weight ratio of a car weighing something like the aforementioned do makes for a pretty good steer ah well there it is ☹️ Big Rat
  6. This is my first Japanese car, my only other experience of them was an 'x' from some years ago had a Mitsubishi Shogun EVO, the relationship I had with that thing was a lot more interesting that it's owner, it had done something like 190k but really was a good un. Always fastidiously maintained by an indie in Bristol I do not recall it ever being a problem always got positive comments from those who actually know what they are, wonder were it is now 🤔 Big Rat
  7. Even the little jobs can be very satisfy, all that matters is we try, and Mrs Rat says I can be very tying, a statement many on here would find very difficult to understand 😌 Big Rat
  8. Hi John There is a Lexus IsF / Owners club meet in the Midlands on the 18 th March, the full details are on the Meets page. If this event is something that could be included in your discussions to both promote the brand and fly the club flag so to speak, the individual who is organising the day his contact details are on the afore mentioned meets page. Its a simple cars and coffee type affair you'd be most welcome. Paul
  9. Drives is part of what I do, most local authorities require permeable surface when it's over a certain surface area, with run off areas onto the property and not to the highway. Drainage is also a requirement frequently both on and under the surface. The biggest reason for failure of the surface by far is usually lack of preparation of the sub base. All surfaces have there fores and against beit gravel, block, patterned concrete and so on, much of it personal to the customer. I would recommend as much research as possible into the contractors having first sought the necessary permissions if required. For on line perusal the site named A J McCormack is worth a look. 10. Always difficult to judge from photos the real condition of a car, but I agree the mileage is always going to make most nervous. There will be some one though I'm sure who will go for it, perhaps the individual has a lot of knowledge of matters mechanical and can judge the car purely on its condition, but as we've discussed before it's the parts prices that would prevent me personally if I was in the market. But look at it guys that car has done 100k more than mine and the interior appears no worse than mine, and we all know how difficult a tired and damaged one is to rectify. I think again it's evidence how well they are put together, I can think of two or three German manufacturers with similar ilk cars that if they had that mileage would be complete money pits. Big Rat
  11. I shall blame Mrs Rat for the rubbish pictures cough..... cough..... Big Rat
  12. That's very nice, when they came out I went to a main dealer in Melksham in Wilts for a test drive, they had the full range in stock, I took out a 300 manual and really liked it, but I got a better deal on a V8 Manual M3 a mistake but that's another story. Big Rat
  13. Sorry to hear that a shame a ten would be on my short list of short ! i just love fast saloons. As always Matey better to have lost in love than never had loved at all 👍 Big Rat
  14. It's not a marque I know anything about, you certainly do not see many about of any of the models, more than happy with my ISf, and having had the opportunity to drive other models in the range with different power plants im a hooked convert ! I was curious more than anything with more manufactures offering turbo fours, shame Lexus don't bring over the 350 there is certainly a gap to fill. Big Rat
  15. Hi Doog Never had 135i, test drove one after my older 335i but wanted something different, you are absolutely correct about the is350 such a shame not having a petrol 6 is a mistake in my opinion, we had a thread running on that very matter a few weeks ago and that was the conclusion we came to nothing between a turbo 4 and the V8. Sensible head haven't got one of those bur more importantly no children ! Is200t a downgrade I don't think so wouldn't touch a German again after long long experience, not all bad just the perceived quality is just a myth. Big Rat
  16. Mine would wear through its tyres, all four on the Inner surfaces faster than Trump can say 'your fake that's fake news '🙄 Big Rat
  17. My second ever car was a Mk1 Ford Escort 1600 BDA, sum total of the mods on that was tyres went up from 165 to 175 in width , major mod that back in the day ✊️ Big Rat
  18. Forced out round the shops by Mrs Rat, saw this in Cabot Circus Bristol on a large display. Is it a direct competitor to the RC 200T, any one tried one ? Big Rat
  19. Huge amount of variations come into play with 'lap times ' to numerous to mention here And when you have a vast list like that of different vehicles it's all pretty academic anyway Personally I don't put much stock in these things, great fun doing it though a great rush 🙂 🐀
  20. Ah a man with taste clearly, none of that perceived German quality fooling you fella 👍 Bug Rat
  21. I'm thinking 25K-30K for a GSF for Me in say 18 to 24 months by which time the ISF will be worth the same, pop to the dealers a straight swap having convinced them they are getting an appreciating modern classic. While you are taking a hard to shift model off there hands. Simple peeps 😂 Big Rat
  22. No you mustn't do that temptation is but a credit card deposit away ! Big Rat
  23. Don't blame you there is a rather attractive orange one there 😌 RCF that is still thinking GSF for me though, it's that old man 4 door thing and you can use tighter parking places 😇 Big Rat
