  1. Only averaging 28 mpg with the IS250 with a mix of motorway/town driving, and the IS200 is doing about the same.
  2. I'm a bit confused here so please forgive me if I'm wrong, but are you calling the Lexus expensive when compared to a high mileage 3 year old BMW? I'm sorry but that doesn't make any sense whatsoever To be honest, there is no way you can make a comparison between Lexus and BMW and the Lexus lose on price, because it never does........ Blimey not been back in a while and i get all this abuse!!!!! ok, this is hard to compare, because IS200 and IS300 prices will have dropped considerably because of the model IS250 right? ok, you have the option, IS200 for say £15k, 1 year old, and 15k miles, or... a 325i sport, 2 yr old, higher mileage, but for the same price, which would you choose? For the BMW, you get better handling, better car, more power, quicker, reliable, and peaceof mid. As well as a car that will run for 200xxx miles. I'm sorry, each to his own, i just couldn't justify the Lexus over the BMW. I dont think any of us have a problem with you buying a BMW; your choice after all. Its just that perhaps you should be posting this on the BMW owners site and not LOC....... Hate to think what a BMW forum would be like..perhaps that's why he's still here? :mat:
  3. The sun has just come out in Houston, guess I'm going find it cold in the UK tomorrow morning!
  4. Probably the '55 plated demonstrators and the Lexus dealers 'Company Cars'. They change them out every 3 months so it's about that time.
  5. Rear window visibility Location of boot and petrol cap release and not lit! Rear leg room The car in silver (back does not look right :P ) rear window visibility, precisely the reason i got rid of the IS200 and bought a 325i sport BMW, plus it had parking sensors. New IS250 is even worse, i could never buy a Lexus from now on unless they change drastically. Forgive me if I've missed something here, but are you in the right forum? I've got a mate with a 330 Coupe and I get enough earache about Bavarian Motor Works without having to read it on here. The 250 with MM has an excellent rear parking camera, and parking sensors. I don't see your point.
  6. I'm off down to Sainsbo in the morning! :D The gallon jar is a bit OTT so don't go to a cash & carry for it. I bought two 'small' bottles (about a pint) of distilled white vinegar from Tesco's and after bathing the car had more than a bottle left.
  7. I've had DBA gold grooved and drilled front discs, standard rear with Mintex pads all round on the IS200 for the last two years and have been extremely happy with their performance. Can i ask how many grooves you have and how many miles do you get from your pads....oh and a big question are you an aggressive or gentle braker....? thanks Can't answer the first question as the car is a few thousand miles away. The original Mintex are still going after 20,000 and I normally use full braking rather than progressive if you know what I mean. :winky:
  8. I tried the 'acid wash' on the IS200 using neat white vinegar. Gets any water marks off paintwork and glass but you need to rinse off with clean water straight after application and then dry (panel at a time). Good prep for resin sealer before wax. Copied from the car care section: WATER SPOTS The same water we use to bathe our cars can also damage our cars' paint. The spots and damage are caused by the minerals in the water. When water evaporates off of your car's paint, it leaves behind the trace elements it contains. Calcium and metals are the most damaging elements found in your tap water, whereas rainwater may contain damaging acids from air pollutants. Avoiding water spots is easy if you chase after them. The best solution is to use a quick detailing spray after you wash, or as soon as you discover the spots (i.e., when your neighbor's sprinkler gets you). If the spots are allowed to dry and bake on, they will attach to and harden on your paint. When this happens, you need to use a mild acid to get them loose. Believe it or not, the best acid is also the least expensive and most available: a gallon jug of distilled white vinegar. Expert car detailers have known this secret for years. If you take your car to a pro, they will tell you about the 'magic acid bath' and charge you $60 or more for the pleasure of smelling like a pickle. Save the $60, put on some gloves, and get to it. To give your car the magic acid bath, first wash your car with your normal car shampoo, rinse, then use the distilled vinegar. Just wipe it on with a sponge, and rub it in. Do one section at a time, let it sit 30 to 60 seconds, then rinse. When you're done, wash the car again with shampoo and rinse. By the way, vinegar will remove your wax. So, be prepared to re-wax your car after the vinegar treatment.
  9. I've had DBA gold grooved and drilled front discs, standard rear with Mintex pads all round on the IS200 for the last two years and have been extremely happy with their performance.
  10. They are a standard on the Sport and the IS350 so of course they fit. The suspension set-up may be set a little harder but essentially there's no other difference in the component parts between the models. The wider rims are a dealer option in the UK which means you don't get anything back financially on the standard rims Strange, seeing as they are a factory option here in the States :tsktsk: I've seen the 16" on a 250, sorry but they look naff
  11. Thanks chips, that brought back some memories, and of course the Jaguar take-over came true. The 'mobile' phone :D did we really carry those things around!!
  12. I would like to know where they got the information on the intent to launch the IS350 in the UK The coupe and convertible is a known, but there's gonna be a lot of upset IS250 owners if the 350 comes in, or perhaps a sudden rush of trade-ins :D
