  1. I always think front fogs should be saved for FOG. It is most annoying to drive on regular roads when cars coming towards you have dims & front fogs on. Quite agree, thought it was only the Chavs that think that's cool. I think Koshime was baiting the trap with that one

Yes, the 18" rims have to go on before any bodykit. The fitment of the front spoiler also means I have to cut slots in the existing front valance so I need time to think about that . Just debating if I can hand carry the rims back home??? One or two at a time perhaps ;)
  3. The dead pedal was $52.05 and the other two were $79 (£77.54 for all). I found them a little cheaper on the net in Fort Lauderdale, but the site looked a bit dodgy and the delivery wasn't so good. I like the Spiders: They are $248.75 each, both the front and wider rears (£588.76 for the set). Are these the same pedals that are in an IS350? Must admit I didn't notice when driving the 350, I'll have a look in Westside Lexus on the way back from work. The only thing that makes me unsure is that Westside couldn't find the auto set in the parts catalogue, although they found the ones for the manual. If they are standard in the 350 then they should have been readily available. The Dealers over here seem to please themselves what they charge as when Westside Lexus in Houston eventually found the parts they wanted: $70.71 for the brake pedal/pad $47.53 for the accelerator pedal assembly $71.97 for the dead pedal/footrest
  4. Thinking of fitting the front and sides of the OEM ground effects kit. I've seen a couple of IS350's in the US that have them and I quite like it. None of the parts seem to be lower than the original fittings, just makes it look different. I'm not considering changing the rear as it appears to be a lot of trouble for little or no noticable difference. The parts are available ready painted in factory colours, in my case Smokey Granite Mica (SMG)..that's code 1GO, Cadoxton Slate in the UK. Just noticed I posted this in the wrong forum :tsktsk: . Is there anyway to switch it?

  6. I just use Pledge furniture spray polish and buff up after I've cleaned the wheels. The silicon/wax in the polish prevents the brake dust from sticking, at least until the next weekly wash.
  7. Wanted the Sport, but also the leather so slowly changing my SE-L auto...first step but not fitted yet are the pedals. Got them from Sewell Lexus in Dallas and hand carrying them home. The accelerator pedal is a complete replacement (lever arm and attachment plate), but the other two are simple replacement pads Next step will be the OEM 18" Spiders.
  8. Doh how silly of me ! lol here's the link. - I kinda like the style of the altezza grille with its silver bars but with this it would look more subtle.. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/LEXUS-IS200-IS-200-C...1QQcmdZViewItem Guys ?.... Looks just like the one on my IS200 Sport..make me an offer when I get my sports grill :)

  10. My SE-L auto is still averaging 28 mpg...sorry :) :) :) :)
  11. A real pain..I'm still tranferring one at a time and I got the car in December '05! Would be easier to change the phone :)
  12. With the Sony you can transfer the whole contact list, but not possible with the Nokia 6230i.
  13. Let's hope so. My 250 is (still) waiting for dealer rectification of the wind noise. They were supposed to pick it up from home while I'm (as usual) away as they needed it for 3 days to sort out the problem once and for all. So far it's had new seals for both front doors and windows, so wondering what they'll do next.. Patience is starting to wear just a little thin...
  14. Isn't that like 'the cheque's in the post' ?
  15. Lexus salesman on the other hand...well, back to topic, where are they? I reckon they've been told to stop posting... Re. Consultants, it's said it takes one to know one, but you knew that too. Where's Mole? He was so vocal before we all got our cars.
  16. [ (well, I am a consultant...I can only tell you what you SHOULD already know...) Subject: Consultants A farmer was herding his sheep flock in a remote pasture in the Cotswolds when suddenly a BMW 3-series advanced out of a dust cloud towards him. The driver, a young man in a Broni suit, Gucci shoes, Ray Ban sunglasses and YSL tie, leans out the window and asks the shepherd, "If I tell you exactly how many sheep you have in your flock, will you give me one of them?" The farmer looks at the man, then looks at his peacefully grazing flock and calmly answers, "Sure. Why not?" The young man parks his BMW, whips out his notebook computer, connects it to his Nokia mobile phone, and surfs to a NASA page on the internet, where he calls up a GPS satellite navigation system to get an exact fix on his location which he then feeds to another NASA satellite that scans the area in an ultra-high-resolution photo. He then opens the digital photo in Adobe Photoshop and exports it to an image processing facility in Hamburg, Germany. Within seconds, he receives an email on his Palm Pilot that the image has been processed and the data stored. He then accesses a MS-SQL database through an ODBC connected Excel spreadsheet with hundreds of complex formulas. He uploads all of this data via an email through his Xircom, and after a few minutes, receives a response. Finally, he prints out a full-colour, 150-page report on his hi-tech, miniaturized HP LaserJet printer. He glances at the last page, turns to the shepherd and says, "You have exactly 1586 sheep." "That's right. Well, I guess you can take one of my sheep." says the farmer. He watches the young man select one of the animals and looks on amused as the young man stuffs it into the boot of his BMW. Then the farmer says to the young man, "Here, if I can tell you exactly what your business is, will you give me back my sheep?" The young man thinks about it for a second and then says, "Okay, why not?" "You're a consultant." says the farmer. "Wow! That's correct," says the young man, "but how did you guess that?" "No guessing required." answered the farmer. "You showed up here even though nobody called you; you want to get paid for an answer I already knew; to a question I never asked; and you don't know crap about my business. Now give me back my dog."
  17. I have had the same problem on my IS200 (nearside rear). Not really a problem, just a nuisance as I can only hear it with the windows down at slow speeds. The Lexus mechanic tells me he can fix it with a spring set as fitted to the later models (mine is on an X plate) to hold the pad off the disk. Not bothered to have it done yet.
  18. It's available here in the US, but having seen it in the flesh it does nothing to improve the looks and only adds a dirt line to the boot lid. I am hoping to bring back a ground effects kit for my 250 in SGM (just the sides and front) and a sports pedal set for my SE-L auto. Just the 18" wheels to go to finally get what I wanted in the first place...a 250 Sport with full leather :D . Not true, I still want the 350!
  19. Looking at the amount of rubber and complexity of the seal geometry around the doors and windows I'm surprised I am getting the wind noise. I know the designers have to compromise between the amount of force necessary to close the door and obtaining a seal. So far the Dealership has not suggested or apparently considered adjusting the door lock but I notice after washing the car that water seems to get by the primary seal (the door rubber design looks to have a primary and secondary). The panel lines wouldn't suffer from a small adjustment either, so I don't know why they changed out all the door and window seals as a first option. :o Wow!!! This is all becoming too much. Trying not to be negative but Lets see... Poor return on mileage, Sticky gear shift Weirdly ratio'd gearbox Rattles all over the place Problems avoiding dints and scrapes Daily changing delivery times Poor feedback from dealers. etc, etc, etc Can someone remind me again why I am waiting four months for one of these Maybe thats why they use the slogan THE BEST BUILT CARS IN THE WORLD - TOYOTA (not Lexus ) In any other car I would describe the wind noise I have in the Lex as 'normal', but having driven other 250's I know mine needs attention to make it as whisper quiet as it is evidently designed to be. I admit lo having a small dint in my drivers door from an inconsiderate car parker, and a protection strip as fitted to my 200 would probably have prevented it.I also freely admit to having a big :) on my face every time I drive the car (surpassed only when I drove the 350 :D ).

  21. Yes, it has been covered elsewhere, unfortunately by me. So far Lexus have changed the major door seals on both front doors, and after this failed to cure the problem, installed new window seal on both doors. The wind nioise as you described is still there, so they now want the car for approximately 3 days to sort it out. Apparently they will apply tape until they identify where the noise is being generated and then complete the 'fix'. :shutit: In the meantime I have had a dashboard rattle, but only heard initially at the start of driving after the car was parked in very cold temperatures. Lexus said quote 'oh no not another one'....they say they know the problem and will fix whilst they have the car over the three days . Thing is, I haven't heard a rattle since reporting the problem It's cost me a lot in time and expense so far and still not sorted, but I'm committed to getting it fixed. You're the only other owner to report the problem so far.
  22. Anyone tried this? http://www.logjamelectronics.com/soundauxlex.html Looks good Tango but it would appear that it has to be ordered from the States and before doing that I would like to hear from someone who has fitted one, to see how easy it is etc. Going out again tomorrow so will see what I can find :winky: I had a look at this myself, but these guys don't export. However, I found another company that does the same thing and theses guys do export. That's what I mean..I'm in Houston for the next three weeks so will bring one back to try out
