  1. I tried the 'acid wash' on the IS200 using neat white vinegar. Gets any water marks off paintwork and glass but you need to rinse off with clean water straight after application and then dry (panel at a time). Good prep for resin sealer before wax.
  2. I've ordered a cargo net from the USA (they were provided as part of the deal with the cars sold out of Westside Lexus, Houston). Don't know what you mean by vertical and horizontal as there is only one part number available. They also have the following available: -Rear Spoiler -Ground effects kit -Dual stainless steel sport exhaust by HKS (available Spring 2006) -All weather floor mats -Trunk mat -Lexus tailored all weather car cover The other iten listed is XM or SIRIUS Satellite Radio capability (Spring 2006), but haven't a clue what this is...perhaps someone can enlighten me (us?). Picked up the Cargo net yesterday from Westside Lexus, Houston. It's the only one available here for the 250/350 and is the vertical version that holds up to 30 lb of items that would normally roll around in your trunk/boot. Made in Mexico for Toyota but designed for the new IS. Also ordered the tailored car cover to cut down on the amount of detailing I have to do from leaving my 250 on the drive when I'm away from the UK on long trips. It's tailored around those big 'ears' and also has heat resistant material over the twin exhaust outlets. The body kit still isn't available until March/April. Will come ready painted in all the new IS colours (the same design has on the car on my avatar). Just need to make sure the Metallic Mica over here is the same as our Cadoxten Slate
  3. Why didn't you drive it? Nick from Westside has given me a couple of drives now, and I've only got my UK license. Acceleration is brill though don't you think, but how does it compare with Black Betty? The downside for me is now having the comparison with my UK 250
  4. I have driven the IS350 with the 18" rims and to be honest didn't notice a lot of difference from my own IS250 running on 17". The car definitely looks better on the wider rims though. Fills out those fat arches just right. I followed an SE on what looked like 16" rims yesterday.... :yack:
  5. I was there at the Nationals when that went down... scarey stuff!!! Don't think it's off topic, but how many aeromodellers/radio modellers have we got in LOC then? Me! :D Just the two of us then?
  6. Now where have I seen that before????
  7. The AWD IS250 is already available in the States...I saw a quite a few on the roads as far back as early December.

  9. You've got to be joking! US roads pothole free! Depends where you are in the US, but even in Houston where the concrete freeways fortunately don't suffer from frost damage (apart from some of the flyovers), the rest of the road system is terrible.....I have a Ford Expedition at the moment, a typical Texas truck, and believe me it gets a regular rattle test.
  10. Placed a £500 deposit in March 2005, test drove a car the week before the official unveiling in November and placed a firm order the day after. Had to wait for one of the right spec. (SE-L MM in Cadoxton Slate with black leather) to be available on the shipments from Japan and received the car on December 22nd. Because I'd placed the March pre-order deposit I got priority on the first matching spec that was available. If I had wanted one in Silver or Black then the delivery period would have been shorter as I guess they were the pre-determined popular choice. The car seems very popular so peeps that have recently made up their mind to buy are probably queueing for the specs available on the shipments being delivered. I was told in the States that if I wanted a factory 'special' (don't ask, but one made to order) it would be a 6-8 months delivery.
  11. Just to continue with my never ending story on wind noise from my SE-L. Back to dealership today and technician agrees both front doors have a problem, now believed to be either damaged or incorrectly fitted glass seals/runners. New ones on order, but I'm out of the country again until end of February so will not know until then if this is the final fix (already had new door seals). Saw the new Sport in the same colour as mine...didn't look any different except the wider wheels make it look more squat, and of course the trim/ally pedals inside. No 'Sport' identity anywhere or privacy glass like the 200, so difficult to see the difference,
  12. So many choices with the auto box. Position the selector to the right of Drive and use the paddle shifts behind the steering wheel, or if you're on a twisty road which makes the paddles difficult to use then use the selector as you would a normal gear (forward to shift up sequentially and back to shift down). Then there's the ECT power switch for improved acceleration. When you get bored with playing leave it in auto...
  13. I don't like the thick black plastic protectors you see on a lot of vehicles in the States as they are ugly and attract a lot of crap around the sides. These as you say are a lot different, and look by the photographs to be a lot less obvious. However, just over £300 quid for the full set seems a lot of dosh for plastic film, and reading between the lines it looks like a specialist job to fit, rather than something a first timer could do. :eerrrmm:
  14. Didn't go anywhere near it guv...
