  1. I'm wondering whether I should get the alignment looked at. I only picked my car up Friday and the dealer put new tyres on but the balancing is way out. They said they'd done the tracking too but if their balancing is anything to go on I don't have that much faith. I assume they farm this out to local fitters because every other aspect of the purchase has been spot on. I'm familiar with the need for proper four wheel alignment as we also have an XC90 and they eat tyres if anything is slightly off. There are a couple of places near me that do four wheel alignment and even one with one of those Hunter machines that everyone bangs on about.
  2. A couple of things need sorting sooner rather than later. I need to add parking sensors to the rear. Any recommendations, tips, links etc? Secondly, same goes for adding either USB or aux to the factory headunit so I can get my Spotify back. Again, links, tips etc? Honestly I'm not being lazy, I did search but most of the threads I came across are three years old or more Also, since Photobucket in their wisdom broke the internet the GROM how-to is a little hard to follow. Any help very much appreciated.
  3. Back from the dead! Yes, these threads are popular on just about every marque forum I visit. Should be here too! Three days in and I'm still getting used to my IS300. I've found that the wheels are badly in need of a balance. Motorway speeds are extremely unpleasant but that'll get sorted tomorrow. So this afternoon I followed a mate in his MK3 MX-5 to a modified car meet in a pub car park near Chesterfield. I think we were the oldest there and there wasn't much to interest either of us but it was good to get back into car nonsense again. :edit: Oh and gave the engine bay a bit of a clean up. The only part of the car that's needed it.
  4. My local Waitrose sells Shell so I assume their regular 95 RON is like everyone else's V Power.
  5. So there we have it OP. The answer to your question. Yes, use it. On the other hand don't. Now, while we're here I'd like to discuss which are the best cleaning products and whether you should put the new tyres on the front or rear of a front or rear wheel drive car.
  6. Possible very slight improvement in fuel economy (stress possible) and probably better for the engine long term more due to the cleaning additives rather than the increased octane rating. Unless you're going to keep it years and do huge mileage I wouldn't bother.
  7. It rapidly got very tiresome. I think I was throwing myself into the early 2000s a little too much. My 4yo liked it though. I'll have to find a suitable way of getting Spotify in the car.
  8. It is indeed Granite Sky. The pictures really don't do it justice. It's in remarkably good condition having been garaged for 15 years. So, when do we all meet up?
  9. From the moment I pulled up in the car park to when I drove away in my (new to me) IS300, Lexus Sheffield have been astonishingly good. The car was the cheapest on the lot by quite a margin but I'd have been just as happy with that level of service if I'd been buying a £50k whatever.
  10. Here we go... Not the best pics I'm afraid. I had to bring it inside. I went over the car with a fine tooth comb and other than a little wear and tear I think it can be described as mint. I can't recommend Lexus Sheffield enough. The whole process was professional, personal and efficient from start to finish. I may have paid top money for it but they've carried out an intermediate service, fitted two new tyres to the front, tracked it, MOT'd it, taxed it for 12 months, given me a year's breakdown cover and a 1 year warranty. The valet is excellent too. All in all very pleased and I've had chance to drive it all of about 5 miles! Better pics to come.
  11. Thank you all for your kind words. Just a thought but like many now bargain performance-lite machines (Lexus IS, BMW E46/E90, Audi A3/A4) there seems to be an element of owners that shall we say, you wouldn't trust with your daughter. Should I be worried about where I park this? Are bits likely to go missing while I sleep soundly? I once had the window smashed and airbag pinched out of a 2011 E91. That sort of thing. The last couple of cars I've had have been a little more stealthy but the Lexus is a bit in your face.
  12. I will more than likely drown you all in pictures because obviously you've never seen a 2002 IS before. I hope nobody minds?
  13. They're things are they? Thanks for the advice. I'll have a bit of a read up. By sticky do you mean binding on? I did mention it was a bit of an impulse buy, I know next to nothing about Lexi other than I'm a sucker for a straight six and rear wheel drive. Thank you. Picking it up Friday and I'm getting a little impatient. Obvs.
  14. Terrible isn't it? A different favourite every day. I never get a thing done. It is indeed that one. I had to move fast because they were getting a lot of enquiries even without the pics. Absolutely top money but with the history and a full 1 year Lexus warranty I don't think it's too bad. And it's about a 5 minute walk from where I work. Fate. Always been a big Partridge fan too.
  15. Thanks for the welcome. Tbh it was a bit of an impulse buy. The dangers of browsing Autotrader when your current daily is broken...
  16. Hi everyone. Dipping my toe into Lexus waters with a rather nice 2002 IS 300. Here are a couple of pics outside the dealers today. I should be picking it up in a day or two. 53k miles, one lady owner, serviced yearly at Lexus Sheffield. Lovely stuff
