  1. It says Lexus on one side and IS on the other don't you know To be honest that's what I was after. Or rather that's what I thought they'd give me. The things dealers do that we get excited about. I think there's a whole thread there. I remember the first time I got BMW branded mints and water after a service at Sytner. "Do you think he noticed we charged him over 300 quid to change the oil, kick the tyres and give it a wipe over with a mucky rag?" "Nah, he was as happy as a pig in **** with those mints. Wouldn't stop going on about them."
  2. Anything here? https://lexus.7zap.com/en/eu/
  3. Aw, don't. I'm determined to enjoy this car and not get hung up on imperfections :(
  4. Mine's been in today for this. Pads moving they reckon and seem to have stopped it.
  5. Just to add, mine went in for a couple of hours today for a warranty niggle. When I picked it up I asked if they had any keyrings. The one I got from them when they sold the car while very nice taps against the dashboard on bumpy roads (I know). Yes of course they said and gave me one of their very nice Lexus IS leather and chrome jobbies. It's the little things...
  6. Richard and his one man thread here. I've found an audio installer local to me who's quite happy to service the tape deck for me. I'm going to remove the unit and drop it off with him. Cassettes FTW!
  7. Had to pop back to the tyre fitters due to a slow puncture OSR. I couldn't see anything in the (brand new!) tyre but I was convinced I'd picked something up and was prepared for the worse. I was very much in a "so it starts" frame of mind. Turns out the inside edge of the rim just needed a bit of a rub down so the tyre made a better seal and job done. They didn't even charge me Next I had to have a bit of a run up an unusually quiet M1 and once again I was struck by how smooth and quiet this car is. But has to be the most unintuitive cruise control I've ever come across! A niggle.
  8. Hi Joe. I only joined a few weeks ago and asked (sort of) the same questions. I always do things the wrong way round though, bought the car and then asked... Anyhoo, see here. In a nutshell it appears to be front calipers, sill and wheel arch corrosion and CD autochangers. I've come from European cars of the same era and that's a bloody short list. Welcome
  9. Mine (only had it 3 weeks) has a knocking/creaking/groaning from what seems to be nsf but only low speed and only when braking. It's back to the dealer Tuesday. But I guess that's not the same circumstances as yours ie when braking and turning/maneuvering?
  10. You just disagreed with something I didn't say and ignored what I did. But hey, carry on. You're obviously on a roll.
  11. As this has turned into a general thread about motor insurance I really do urge people to consider their local insurance broker rather than the big insurance companies. You may be pleasantly surprised. Even if the premium isn't the cheapest around the level of service will be far superior to that offered by the big names. It's particularly nice to have a person answer the phone who knows who you are rather than "we're experiencing a particularly high number of calls right now" which is big company speak for "this business is permanently understaffed so we can offer a higher return to our shareholders".
  12. Very nice and welcome Could be the photo but if those headlight lenses are clouding I can recommend the Autoglym headlight restoration kit.
  13. Thank you both and yes, chuffed is an understatement. There's the odd stone chip and the wheels could do with a refurb but that's about it, the car is a credit to the previous owner.
  14. This one taken with my phone rather than my camera shows the flake a little better.
  15. Well I did threaten pics and after spending a few hours with Autoglym Bodywork Shampoo and Conditioner, Super Resin Polish and Extra Gloss Protection here they are. Very pleased with the results though I can't take a picture to save my life. The metallic flake pop is amazing in the flesh though I don't think the pictures do it justice. I've chucked in a couple of interior shots to show how well the previous owner kept this car. Stop already!
  16. Spent a few hours on it today. Look at that flake pop! (Actually the pictures don't do it justice...)
  17. So today I spent a very productive day armed with Autoglym's finest.
  18. Ah yes, this was mentioned in another thread. I wasn't aware but button placement seems to depend on auto or manual, IS200 or IS300? My PWR and SNOW buttons are down by the gear lever. Nothing wrong with that. But then I'm from Yorkshire I'll check the pollen filter in mine...
  19. I have a 9 year old, a 6 year old and a 4 year old at home. I find cleaning the car quite therapeutic. And coincidentally I intend to do just that tomorrow.
