  1. No had not seen this, somewhat pleasantly surprised as I felt this was a major exclusion so a meaningful improvement. After my last service got the email from Lexus confirming RELAX cover for the 12 months / 10000 miles, possibly would have expected a communication highlighting the improved coverage, the cynic in me is inclined to think Lexus have quietly brought this in without publicising in case of more claims ? If a customer thought not originally covered would not bother Lexus about it. Perhaps the incidence of claims from "Multimedia Systems " is very low, not just from start of RELAX but from all Warranty data that is available that Lexus felt this was a very low cost inclusion, nevertheless it gives me more confidence in the warranty & of course the "Multimedia System. Lots of content on forum since Relax launched highlighting this exclusion & this development should enhance the reputation of Relax, interesting suppose we'll never know how much influence the forum members have had.
  2. Thought this useful posted on another thread earlier this week. On the issue of RELAX being successfully usedI had the dreaded issue of the Tailgate not opening whilst on holiday in Ireland last October Herbie kindly helped with potential issues, nevertheless I could not get it to function. Took into Chalfont Motor Company one of the authorised Lexus / Toyota garages & they reset it & cleared the fault, didn't realise at the time the garage put it through RELAX, it showed up as a repair on Lexus link. April this year the same issue occurred, again they tried reset to no avail, the Power unit Assembley was replaced under RELAX. Quite painless only issue was the liaison between the garage & Lexus UK to confirm the coverage this over a couple of days. I haven't seen the final cost ( will ask at the next service in September for invoice ) but 6 hours Labour plus the part the garage had mentioned circa £!500. All in all very pleased with this outcome on a nine and a half years old RX. As an aside I clarified with Lexus UK when my coverage of RELAX would expire, car goes for service 2/9/22 & will be 10 years old 13/12/22, Lexus UK confirmed in writing that RELAX will expire 2/9/23 so the RELAX will last until the car is just shy of 10 years 9 months old.At this stage I will look for the Extended Warranty. All things considered RELAX has worked out extremely well & may have been the difference between changing my beloved RX !!
  3. I agree,The tailgate in 5 years of ownership has been the only major issue, Lexus forum seems to bear this out with other owners. Other than that just the 12v battery ( due to not being used in lockdown ) & replacement battery in key fob. The best car brand I have ever encountered, hope I'm not speaking too soon !!!!!

  5. Hi Trefor I looked up this garage on Google reviews they have a total of 101 reviews, quite a few on the Cat Guard with positive responses both in terms of the quality of the work and no rattling once installed. Hope this helps.
  6. I had my 3rd Generation RX450H Catalytic Converter Smart Marker carried out yesterday by Lexus Service Centre Hayes ( Middlesex ) under the " vulnerable vehicle scheme", this included warning stickers for the near / offside front windows. Time will tell I guess how much of a deterrent this initiative will be !!! I feel I should give my recommendation to the centre here, have previously had to use the large Franchise booking system which I found a little laborious dealing with the appointment line & the long lead in times. This was simple with a next day booking available. Although only a simple job I was treated as a valued customer they even Wash / Vac the car, It is a small centre ( also does Toyota servicing might see more of these joint service centres ? ) not part of the major franchises & without the backdrop of a main dealer landscape although Tea / Coffee available. An excellent experience that has persuaded me to have my service & MOT carried out here, they will also recognise Lexus Owners Club members for discounted servicing.
  7. Apologies I have been trying to Cut & Paste Data from the London Borough of Hillingdon for Catalytic Converter thefts 4/5/20 to 4/5/21 but it appears to be protected from the sender ( Met Police ) Anyhow these are the models that have been recorded. This is my local area and despite the Police success in targeting these criminals the thefts are increasing. Prius 453, Auris 366 Jazz 310 Civic 133 CRV 124 CT200H 74 RX400 55 Accord 46 Golf 33 Yaris 25 MX5 23 3 Series 23 Polo 20 Beetle 10 Focus 9 Astra 9 A4 8 Not sure how this translates across the country, this is the first data I have seen, I did not appreciate that models outside the Japanese fold were being targeted.
  8. As of now Extended Warranty still available at Lexus Parts Direct, prices appear to be unchanged.
  9. I have had several flat battery instances. My breakdown customer has suggested getting a replacement, i have now decided to stop procrastinating ! i have the 3rd gen RX450H & after extensively looking found an identical ( albeit not the Panasonic fitted ) The reference on the battery 560 410 054, i have checked all the tech detail Length, Height, Width, Voltage, CCA, Base Hold down, terminal type. In fact it weight at 14.54 KG this is identical to the Lexus suppied one. This was the only one that fully matched the original spec, Several other companies recommended their batteries but they did differ in many areas. Apprarantly is is made in the same German factory as Bosch batteries. Many of the sites selling it Euro Car Parts Amazon etc confirm it is compatible for my RX,. I have ordered at £73 from Amazon including delivery. Reading through some of the comments on other blogs Some people are not fans of Varta in their defence they confirm it matches Manufacturer Specifications, also it comes with a 3 year guarantee. I have looked all over for negative feedback on this battery but cannot seem to find anything against it. The breakdown company are going to fit it FOC ( As you've probably gathered I am somewhat of a novice ! ) We'll see if its that easy !! The battery details are VARTA D47 BLUE DYNAMIC CAR BATTERY 560 410 054.
  10. Thanks Herbie, Agree with you Lexus say they are trying to influence the Authorities & Police to bring about change when the Cat's are taken to the scrapyards. Could be some time away before implemented.
  11. Hi looking for advice, in our area of Ruislip hardly a day goes by without a Catalytic Converter theft. Reading the Lexus site & seeing now a bespoke CATLOC for 3rd Generation RX now available. Still seems this is only going to slow down a thief a short amount of time.Lexus appear to admit this & draw attention that the CATLOC is not foolproof . But tseems to be required if you needed to claim via car insurance & prove you took all precautions to prevent this theft. Reading various blog's precaution on how to park particularly at night, but I am unclear how this can be achieved. We have one other car BMW 2 series Active Tourer & could park side by side, with the RX beside hedge & against house. I am unclear how to actually park and make it most effective. Any suggestions welcome. Thanks, Frank
  12. Hi Steve, I can say that my RX went to the Lexus for service and a great Power wash followed by heavy rain and left without driving for 2 weeks then the annoying front parking sensor bleeping. started .( I did have the coating done when purchased the car in October 2017 so pretty sure not related to this ) I believe, no definitive evidence that it was the power wash & heavy rain- water getting into the front sensors. Tried WD40 but the bleeping came back shortly afterwards, then the Vaseline last 4 weeks or so no issues & I actually enjoy driving again. One member did say to use a Hair Dryer to ensure dryness, have not needed to try that yet.
  13. Thanks to keerso05, malcolmw & CHX. A common link seems to be the coating, I too had this done i when I purchased the RX in October 2017, I will carry out the drying recommendation That said the only ( tiny ! ) item in the 3 years is replacement of the key fob battery, bar far my best experience of a brand. Thanks again.
  14. Hi have been battling this over last 3 weeks my RX450H went in for service no issues, had the standard car wash at the dealership ( great job ) didn't use the car for a few days loads of heavy rain then the fateful bleeps on the front sensors when I move forward or slow right down, no objects all around the car ,no error messages at all. Tried WD40, 3 times with a bit of success but the damm bleeps came back.I have applied Vaseline as per advice of other members , hope not speaking too soon but all OK and their has been plenty heavy rain.
  15. Hi, with lockdown in London, I need to get petrol from my RX 450 to Lawn Mower, with a petrol syphon .( I know tiny issue with the world problems Covid-19 ) Would anybody know ? Does the RX have any Anti pumping filter on the tank which would normally be there for Petrol theft prevention. Any input welcomed, thanks. Frank.
