  1. That's just the sort of car I'm looking for but I've got to sell my current car so that limits me to a part-ex deal. BTW, just out of curiosity - if the 300 is so good why are you looking at a Mercedez? shame 'bout that, but never mind! :D the 300 is just over 4 yrs old now (NEVER kept a car that long before) & we couldn't decide whether to keep it till she fell apart/cost too much, or make a swap some time soon - swapping seems to be the way to go, BUT, if the Merc doesn't make me smile as much as her, she'll be staying with us! we couldn't agree on any other car than the CLK or SLK (CLK would be my preference) & seeing as Mr does get to drive it occasionally, i suppose he's got to like it too! we really would love to stay with Lex but there just isn't anything in the current line up that grabs us. perhaps a year old IS-F or the new SC will our next buy... good look with your shopping, let us know how big your grin was when you put your foot down! :winky:
  2. have we got any indication how much this wee beastie will cost yet??? that blue is just stunning!
  3. errr, of course it is i wish! i am working hard to get a body like that, a 'little' way to go just yet tho! if you really want to see my mug, check my profile, there is a teeny piccie attached :winky:
  4. Cheers Janet, I think that's swayed me - I'll pop round to the local dealer tonight and see about a test drive. Whoa there boy! before you go to those nasty dealer type places - i have a lovely June 03 IS300 that should be coming up for sale very shortly just over 29k on the clock at the mo', strathcaron blue with oakham leather, styling kit & sat nav. she's a beauty, my absolute fave car i've ever had & i'll be very sorry to see her go. we had a 200 for 3 years before that & the 300 just improves what was already a great car. i can honestly say the 300 only costs a little more to run, the mpg is about the same at 25-29 for shortish trips & servicing is about the same. we're off to have a shufty around some Mercedes this weekend & try to get some test drives - so should know more after the bank holiday. give me a pm if you might be interested. Abbie :winky:
  5. Rikos - no shame in the new Mercs, after all, i had considered the new 3 series vert until i read some horror stories! quickly changed my mind on that one... we'd love to stay with Lex but the only choices we'd consider are the IS-F or perhaps the new SC (due spring 08?) - being realistic, both are gonna be too pricey brand new - perhaps a year old one of either at some point in the future :winky: Wylie - have to agree on the current SC, i love it when i've driven it BUT i just couldn't have one on the drive! just too far from my view of beauty i'm afraid. this stunner of a CLK is £39k, a quick look at the spec shows £££'s worth of extras & i think it's a fair 'start' price for negotiation! Parthiban - interesting . a 57 demo would definitely be something to consider. i think this particular car has grabbed me as it's an usual colour, ie not silver of black! both look lovely, but i just don't want silver or black - a female thing perhaps? here she is thanks for the input guys
  6. i know that normally towards the end of the month can be a good time to go car shopping - but does this still apply in August when all those new Sept 1st reg cars are waiting in the wings?! we've sort of decided we were going to wait until xmas time & have a look around again, but the Merc CLK Cabrio 280/350 or SLK 280/350 are at the top of our shopping list. but, i was having a mooch around the nearly new mercs and, unfortunately, fell in love! a stunner of a CLK, 07 reg with 4k on the clock. i don't know what to do now??? :shutit: i'm considering going to our local Merc dealer this afternoon to see if i can test drive a similar car then trying to persuade hubby to go & see my dream car over the weekend...a woman with a plan is a dangerous creature!
  7. Awww, thanks for the messages guys! had a day enjoying the sun, watching the grand prix then the tennis - how kind to schedule these for my birthday?! :winky: hubby taking me for a meal tomorrow night - cocktails at the bar followed by some posh nosh of lobster me thinks... i've still got my beauty of an IS300 & i think we're waiting until Sept before we decide what to do - hubby still not too smitten with the idea of a drop-top beemer (or anything else i suggest! ), but i'm hoping a test drive in a 330 or 335 might just sway him :winky: big sloppy wet kisses to all you guys on my birthday, well - i do like to share...! Abbie xxxxxx
  8. Snap! mine is just 4 years old, i don't do the same amount of mileage as you but the MPG is very similar. :)
  9. hmmmm....food for for thought. thanks guys! :winky: maneesh, think i might be giving ebay a wide berth , but thanks anyway! :D
  10. just browsing around the other day & i fell upon this site new-car-discount.com they 'seem' ok & can get around £1k off the new BMW 3 convertible - has anyone had experience with them? or any other places online?? i know a while a go the supermarket type places were a bit 'buyer beware' about the spec & warranty, but i get the impression they are more trusted/reliable than when they 1st popped up. thanks guys :winky:
  11. hmmm, interesting - seems it might be worth the wait on this one then, at least until it gets a few test drives & reviews in the press. in the meantime, a new Merc comes out in August - yet more research for me to do! it's well liked in the reviews i've seen up to now. thanks for the input :D
  12. still on the search for our next car - i would be happy with the BM convertible, but hubby really isn't keen :duh: - saw some pics of the new Infiniti that will be among the models released over here next year. i don't know a lot about Infiniti - presumably at least on a par with Lexus? the G37 seems to be an up-market 350Z from what i've read & definitely ticks a lot of boxes on my wish list :winky: thoughts please guys! :D
  13. sorry, i lost you in amongst all the pant wetting going on about the 335 - weekend car sounds a nice idea, but wouldn't really suit us. we did try an MX5 a while ago, it wasn't really us either! ;) now my thread is back on track Rsarin... :P thanks for that. i did have a look on the main BM site & there was 1 new convertible that must have been a demo. i thought they normally kept the demo's 3 or 6 months? i really don't know what to do - Jamboo, i agree now isn't the time for a cabrio unless i don't mind paying top whack, silly idea! :winky: . i will look at Merc later, are they hard tops tho? i think this is one of the reasons i'd discounted them earlier. the way i feel at the moment, i'll probably still be driving the 300 this time NEXT year! :duh:
  14. i'm having a rubbish day & you made me , thank you! :D
  15. i don't know how much i'd be looking for on ours yet as we've only just thought about it...sorry! :) erm, boys - unless i'm getting the wrong info on the beemer website :duh: - the NEW 325SE convertible (which is equal/above power on the IS300) starts at £33,080. add leather, metallic & auto = £36,470. so just about where i could be looking, at a teeny stretch...
  16. am i stark staring bonkers or wot?! :D our prized beauty will be 4 years old come the end of this June & our thoughts have turned to perhaps getting something new... i feel quite sad even typing that , whatever the 'new' one is, i've got to fall in love very deeply to be parted from my beloved IS300 we seem to be heading down the route of a drop top for some reason, mid-life crisis anyone?! :P he's mentioned the likes of Aston Martin & Jaguar XK - i've laughed at him! (i too would love an XK, but let's be sensible eh?!). i think a budget of up to £35k, preferably 4 seater, has got to be an auto (so i can still drive it when my back is dodgy, otherwise, i'm stuffed!). ideally we'd want at least the same performance as the IS300, but a little less would be ok. as depreciation scares me rigid - i wouldn't be averse to a demo or perhaps up to a year old. so, nothing along these lines seems to be on the horizon from Lexus so we're looking elsewhere... Audi A4 - doesn't seem to be that highly rated from what i've read. pricey, expensive to run & not very exciting were a few things mentioned. Merc - i have no idea. never really been my 'thing' & some recent horror stories of poor build quality etc. & then good ol' BM - which i swore many decades ago that i'd never have! BUT, the new convertible really does seem very, very good... thoughts, comments & suggestions all gratefully received from you guys :D Abbie x
  17. thanks for the extra replies guys :) (FYI the cooling off period with cold callers only applies business to consumer, business to business it's all about their terms & conditions). at the moment, i'm waiting for replies back on legal advice and the company concerned - when i finally managed to speak to someone yesterday, after 3 phone calls & no promised callbacks :tsktsk: , it seemed a classic case of left hand not knowing what the right was doing, abysmal communication between staff at a supposed large & successful company... as it stands at the moment, i don't really want to name them just yet - but that may change after i've had my replies!
  18. nothing at all in the small print on the agreement i signed... :duh: i don't think consumer direct will be able to help as it's business to business, but i've plonked them in my favourites 'just in case' :D thanks x i'm really hoping this is where i can trip them up, if they haven't advised a cancellation policy, how can they enforce one?! i should find out later today - just bracing myself for a few heated phone calls...
  19. in a spot of bother with a service that we agreed to buy over the phone then signed an agreement for... trouble is, it's business to business & i've just discovered this isn't covered in the Distance Selling Regulations :o basically, this company phoned us offering a 'free' leisure service (sorry it's vague, just don't want to be too specific!) for 2 years in return for advertising space at our premises/inclusion on their website & a fee of £995+vat for said advertising. expressed the fee was for the advertising & NOT the free service in their agreement. since the 1st cold call from them, cancellation rights have not been advised to us. we signed the agreement & 22 actual days later, i emailed them to advise no longer wanted to proceed as we'd had a large & unexpected business bill over xmas (which was true, unfortunately). they are still chasing us for payment & i have been unable to get confirmation by phone or email that they will cancel this agreement. has my small business got a leg to stand on? if i was a consumer, distance selling regs would cover me as no cancellation terms have been advised, but as a business, it seems you have to fend for yourself... i've trawled thru the net for the past 4 hours & am getting nowhere fast, so any info would be much appreciated :)
  20. Tyger, this is "especially for you"...(in my best Kylie type voice :P ) on another forum i visit, i asked if anyone had changed from a PC to a Mac & what was their experience - this is one of the replies, he's the IT expert (ahem)... "If you buy a Mac you will not be able to install pretty much anything apart from specialist programs. Yer you can have word, excel,IE For Mac, but what if you want to install your favourite game? Or Music Application? Or plug your mobile phone in? You get what I mean! Apple's will start to die out eventually, they are losing their indivuality, they are practically PC's now but can only run MAC O/S unless you install Bootcamp and then Windows XP/Vista" thought you'd appreciate that! :winky:
  21. i just had to press the button & see what you'd said didn't i?, sort of wished i hadn't, but the sun is shining & it's a glorious winter day... i've read & re-read your so called 'light hearted' suggestion & i still don't see it like you say. but, we're all different creatures & obviously our sense of humours are very different. after ALL of your previous posts being so information & offering suggestions, that one just seemed like a cheap shot to me - won't increase her budget, see the light & buy a MAC, fag packet will do instead... like i said a year or two ago (it feels like that long!), communication in cyber space is a peculiar thing. i'm a tad defensive, you're a tad arrogant - perhaps areas we both have to work on eh? ;) i know that about myself, i wonder if you do? (no answer required there by the way). "People like you are NEVER happy. You should be embarrassed at your post." 1 - wrong. absolutely. 2 - no. absolutely. :D i won't be buying a Dell either thanks , i'll choose the ''best' components for my budget, get a firm with a good reputation & after-sales service to make it up for me & there you go, new PC. or you never know, i MIGHT just buy a flippin MacMini!
  22. very bloody funny :o :tsktsk: so, because i have a budget, am not a fully trained computer whizz & i'm only using the basics (as far as you're concerned) that's all i warrant then is it? i see arrogance isn't your only quality... thanks for your input everyone else, don't really think there's a lot else to add to this thread now. ;)
