  1. Hi! Do you have the contact details re Costa Del Hanley and the service department? I just had a major service, plugs and cambelt etc and that cost £1300. Regs MickC Hanley website & you can also PM Chris.S for any details, see thread here
  2. perhaps a trip to the sunny resort of costa del Hanley, stoke on trent should be considered for your next service...?! Hanley prices - GS300 10,000 Mile £74.49 20,000 Mile £234.39 30,000 Mile £98.02 40,000 Mile £246.02 50,000 Mile £74.49 60,000 Mile £463.82
  3. i thank you kind sir...shame it's Nottingham, who i'm not really speaking to at the moment! ho hum.
  4. has anyone ever lost their service schedule/record booklet? i'm pretty sure it must be in the house SOMEWHERE! but it's been put somewhere 'safe' whilst we've had the builders in & i can't find the darn thing now. i've got all my invoices for servicing & other work done since we had the car from new, so if i could get a replcement booklet, i'm sure that would suffice for FSH? MTIA chaps Abbie p.s. hope you're all have a great bank hol w/end...dodging the monsoons/hailstones, queing up at the garden centre/DIY shed, stuck in traffic, etc etc!!! B)
  5. Hi Mike :D as she's still within the 3 years, just, it was my main reason for sticking with Lex. i think i'll still go with Hanley for this one tho. hubby's cousin has got a small garage near Leics (only 20 min down the M1) so we'll probably use him for any other work after this.
  6. are we all sitting down?, i have some absolutely shocking figures to quote to you all... to be on a level playing field, i have NOT included ANY discounts (ie my 25% off @ Nottingham & relevant LOC %) - IS300 30k/3yr service, NOT including coolant change - Hanley £120.00 (while u wait, car available whilst waiting) Leicester £224.00 (collection/delivery/courtesy car) Nottingham £324.08 (collection/delivery/courtesy car) replacement of front brake pads - Hanley £100.00 Leicester £129.00 Nottingham £187.83 so, service & pads = £220.00 Hanley £353.00 Leicester £511.91 Nottingham at the moment, i only have a quote for the service including coolant change from Nottm = £409.53 + £187.83 for pads = total £597.36 :o as Nottm have been reasonably in line with others for previous services, does anyone else think my 25% discount maybe affecting their prices?!?!?
  7. was this for IS300 not 200? & do you know if it included coolant? cheers Abbie
  8. Maybe we should all have a look, just to be sure... Si Hmmm, you wanna see my air bags eh??! :winky:
  9. the last time i looked... i was definitely a female of the species! :D
  10. this is getting a bit confusing now! after PM with Chris.S, it appears coolant change isn't reqd at this service (& LeicesterLex have said the same thing too), but Nottm have quoted to INCLUDE this? this is probably why they are so much more expensive but i have to wonder why they are including this when it appears others aren't...
  11. Nottm have quoted APPROX £350 for this service, when it's not me phoning! she did say that without an actual car reg, she could only give an approx cost. still not exactly competitive is it?? brake pads - i don't think i mind paying £100 for it to be done. hubby paid £60 at a local garage recently for pads on his van to be done so i don't think £100 is too bad for a Lex.
  12. as i thought, i've just had quotes from Leics £224 (price match offered if cheaper quoted elsewhere), Sheffield £300 & less than £250 for service AND front pads from Hanley...bloomin Nottingham!
  13. firstly, thanks for the all info - i'm a little confused regarding the oil tho :duh: , some yes, some no! i initially thought it was a good idea as they seem to charge twice as much as it actually costs...but what do i know eh?! ;) VERY worrying about the alloys & how many have had a 2ND set changed :shutit: that really is pretty sh*t. i had a quick look at the new set yesterday & they seem ok, at the moment! now, i've just had my email from Nottm Lex confirming service date etc, i'd asked for a quote on the service & pads renewal prior to any discount being done - reply as follows "The retail cost of the 30k for you vehicle specification is £400 which includes a coolant change, filters, oil etc. Less the discounts provided. For the brakes the price varies from £160 - £280, depending on whether they are front or rear, pads or discs or both..." £400?! :o :o :o WHAT! i'm possibly living in an alternative reality but isn't this a bit steep? bearing in mind it would be approx half this at Hanley. the cynical side of me thinks this maybe inflated because of my discounts due...
  14. checked in Costco - Mobil1 OW-40 fully synthetic £23.48 4 litres or Magnatec 4.5L £31.71 for TWO... have they got such thing as a use by date?! ok to keep until next year?
  15. :winky: ALL very useful info guys! keep it coming.... :D
  16. i'm just about to book my IS300 (1st reg 26.06.03, 25k on the clock now) in for her 3yr/30k service at NottinghamLexus. i'll probably stick with Nottingham this time as from a bit of a performance with them last year, i've got a 25% discount off this service PLUS a full tank of fuel promised from a recent ***** up with LexusGB!. Next time i'll probably be taking a trip to Hanley at this time of year... as far as i'm aware, this will be a straight forward major service & brake pads will need replacing. is it worth providing my own oil? if so, what would you recommend? i had a card from Nottingham recently with an offer of £99 inc VAT for an Air-Con service. Is this good value? worth doing? or am i doubleing up on anything covered in the service anyway?? i've just had the alloys all replaced under warranty, nothing else was picked up on the recent safety check. is there anything else i should get checked out before the 3 years comes up? any feedback would be greatly appreciated :D cheers Abbie x
  17. i thank you kind sir.....(dashes out of door frantically pinning ears back with a well known brand of sticky tape )
  18. Many Happy Returns Tony :hocus-pokus: my avatar lady will perform a very tasteful lap-dance at your convenience have a great day Abbie :ooh-ducky:
  19. i have spotted that beauty from Siemens whilst on my quest - would be stunning & peaceful BUT way out of my budget at the mo! mutter, mutter, lottery, mutter, bank job.... your Amcor jobby, would you say it was reasonably quiet? i know it's a bit hard to describe but anything for comparison? like the compressor when the fridge/freezer is running or something similar? please don't say anything like a vacuum cleaner tho eh?! ta chuck :)
  20. beam me up Scotty is all i can say to that! who'd of thought an a/c unit could look so darn COOL...geddit?? i shall carry on my search for all things cool looking :winky: i do believe this may be one of these wee beasties...
  21. sorry to ressurect a really old thread guys, but i was just wondering... for the ones that did buy a portable/home air con unit - how have you got on with them? any problems? or brand recommendations? i'm on the look out for a unit now for our bedroom & i'm determined not to get caught out in the summer rush! prices seem to vary widely on the net for very similar machines. i've found various ones 9-12k BTU for anything between £210 to £320+. i'd rather pay a bit extra & know i've got a machine with a decent compressor life expectancy & perhaps a higher BTU as not to 'strain' it too much (if you see what i mean ) any feedback would be appreciated :D cheers, Abbie
  22. blue spanner...always knew i was odd anyway!
  23. all done for the safety check yesterday - good & slightly bad (well, expensive!) news though... not so good - 2 new front tyres needed. i knew they were on their way out so not really a surprise. just had 2 fitted today at local tyre placed who quoted £45 per tyre less than Lexus Nottingham (who always price themselves out of it ). nail in tyre on drivers side rear, nearly a brand new tyre with 6mm tread! fortunately, was ok to be repaired. phew, panic over front brake pads 75% worn - at 3 yrs old in June & 25k covered, only to be expected i suppose? did state on report that "slight ridge on discs". is this anything to worry about? good - getting 4 new alloys next friday, all under warranty & didn't even have to ask! all shiny & clean outside & vacuumed inside. so, all in all, worth sitting around for 90 mins or so watching tv in the 'lounge'... ;)
  24. AHEM! care to come a little closer & say that... :P
  25. oh yes Chris, i am, of course, the spitting image of my avatar! :winky: i'm sure those salesmen just won't be able to keep away from me on Weds :P if i'm feeling particularly cheeky (and brave), i may just ask them what the heck they are doing about all these darn rattles on the 250...a stunned silence will surely follow!
