  1. i know alot of you are pretty good at this sort of thing, so i'm after a bit of assistance... we've had our Sony DAV-S550 DVD/home cinema for just under 2 years. all working hunky dory - until now! ALL the connections have been checked (not an easy task moving a huge 32in TV i can tell you ) but i just can't get a picture out of the darn thing, only sound. nothing has been moved or changed recently but i'm still sure this is probably a connection problem? i'll pop out & get a new yellow cable (see, i CAN be technical when i need to be! :duh: ) tomorrow, but i just wondered if anyone has any other (useful) ideas? thanks in advance....now, what's on sky movies tonight? Abbie
  2. what a wicked sense of humour for an Accountant...?!
  3. why am i NOT surprised that you would know what this feels like?!
  4. comes up with this when i click on the link - don't know if it's 'me' or the other end...?? "Internal Server Error The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request. 5. course it is! just have to make sure postie doesn't squish you too much as he tries to get you thru the letterbox... :winky: hope you had a safe journey back anyway - pics reqd asap!
  6. have a great holiday Ahmet... :D don't worry hun, i'm looking after your place while you're away, i promise not to have too many parties (we don't want people hurling all over your nice new driveway now do we? ). oh, your bedroom turned out real nice in the end didn't it? very tasteful luv Abbie x p.s. the fish are fine - i think they're soooo clever, all swimming on their backs at the top of the tank... p.p.s don't forget my pressie!
  7. hope you get it sorted - i don't like to see any probs on a Lex, specially the same as mine! :o in the meantime, get yourself some wedge heels - open the door & stick your foot out! - it'll take you back to being a kid... (well, i know i always used to get yelled at for using my feet/shoes as brakes?!)
  8. ahem, 1st 'lady' posting on this.... i have a swirly, flowery (but not too big) pattern on the side of my right foot - hurt like hell but i love it, also on top of my left arm, a 2 inch winged serpent type creature - love him too, but think i want to add 'something' to it, not sure what just yet. i LOVE tattoo's - not too keen on the likes of paddington or tigger being on full view, but somewhere hidden & that's OK! as already said, each to their own and, i think, as long as they are done professionally, anything goes!
  9. i'm sure he will - shall i bring my sleeping bag...? cos i will be on the settee won't i? ;)
  10. WOW! just look at the size of that screen!! great price too for a 7+MP. i want a new one soon so i'll add this to my wish list...
  11. Ahmet - i have a confession.... i went straight to the pics of your bedroom!!! can we have some shots of the finished article please? :ooh-ducky:
  12. oooh, you looked much better when i saw you last!! Abbie
  13. hmmm....not too sure if you're being serious?! but i've got a spare half an hour this afternoon, i'll have a look round the book n twiddle a few knobs :P (i suppose it would help if i had actually read the manual at some point... ) ← How did ya knob twiddlin go :winky: PS.............I was joking.............only the CD version has the getaway mode, along with the MIB conversion. ← i thought so.... :P it's a good job i completely forgot about it as soon as i stepped away from my PC then isn't it?! - or one or two (dozen) choice words :tsktsk: would of been aimed at you for time wasted & a broken finger nail or two... :D i'll keep my knob twiddling for this weekend...
  14. hmmm....not too sure if you're being serious?! but i've got a spare half an hour this afternoon, i'll have a look round the book n twiddle a few knobs :P (i suppose it would help if i had actually read the manual at some point... )
  15. canon ixus 50 - latest model, or ixus 40 & the fuji finepix gets higly rated by Which magazine. we bought an olympus mju mini for a pressie recently - very impressed with it & i just HAD to have a play before we gave it!! (i think jessops have got it on special offer @ £130 at min)
  16. when we go to cornwall, at the 'end' of the M5 (where it splits off left to Dawlish/Torquay etc & right if your heading cornwall way) ours tells us to come off left, go round the island, then join back on the M5 again...we did it a couple of times too before we realised what it was doing!! theres a few other islands/flyovers it does that at too - bizarre or wot?! perhaps we've just got a 'scenic route' model...
  17. Happy Birthday boys... :ooh-ducky: :ooh-ducky:
  18. awww, come on 'Moley' - i can't wait for your reply on this one!! i think dave maybe (unintentionally) having a larf surely no discount will be available on a brand new model that's in demand??? come on furry, out your hole..... (that sounds soooo rude, but i won't comment further! ) Abbie
  19. my thoughts are with you & your family Andy. the dreaded 'C' word evokes all sorts of reactions - blind panic when my dad was diagnosed with malignant melanoma last year (lymph nodes removed & in the clear at the mo'), & completely lost for words when i found out my cousin's wife has just found out her breast cancer has returned & spread to lots of different places... keep gritting your teeth thru all the tests being done & i really hope you get a favorable outcome. best wishes, keep us updated, Abbie
  20. hmmm...ok my little squinty eyed, furry friend - i'll give you that one! :P i was looking at the SE-L, but i suppose the SE is nearest to the 300 spec, less a few things as you mention. BUT, even with an SE spec'd up to what i've got now, it's still £1,400 MORE than i paid for mine 2 years ago performance is pretty similar on paper - i'll have to have a little play for real before i can say for certain tho'. can i ask 1 thing? - on the satnav, instead of this all singing, all dancing thing that's an option now, couldn't there just be a 'basic' satnav like i've got now? i don't really want one with all the whistles n bells but i would prefer a factory one as oppose to an after-market 'bolt-on'. just a thought... :) i notice that the 250 is now THE IS model on the lexus website - bye bye our version... :o Abbie
  21. :D thankyou... if you are doing a bit of 'tongue in cheek', try using some of these :P :winky: gets the point across better without being too serious! now...what about my Q on the comparison with the 300? come back when you're not too busy selling all those new 250's eh?! Abbie
  22. ok......so as per my post on the other current topic for this, WHY is the new 250 £4-5k more than the current IS300???? i know i've looked at it purely on basics in my comparison, but i DO recognise that the 250 is a brand new model & more advanced etc, etc - i still can't justify that jump in price. just as a side note, using terms like - " Getting a bit tedious this whole debate isn't it?" "This brief summary should help those still confused." "...if you can't afford one, either wait until the used market developes or buy a cheaper car." really gets my back up IMO, it comes across as sooooo damn condescending that i want to poke you in the eye with a sharp stick! everyone is entitled to their own opinion & our comments on prices etc are just as valid as your 'high & mighty' responses. please, have a little respect for other people... Abbie
  23. putting it that way, really not good value...... in a very basic comparison (forgetting that the 250 is a brand new model etc), the SE-L will have a few extra's to the current 300 - keyless entry, rain sensing wipers, reversing sensors, elec adj steering column, power sunshade rear, illuminated scuff plates, satnav has park assist & cruise option is the adaptive one with pre-crash thingy. looking at that tho, i still don't think i'd be happy to pay the extra above my 300 cost even going for a Sport with satnav - 26,500+510+2,710+1000(unsure about auto, i'd like it but s'pose could adapt back to manual :duh: )=£30,720 which is MORE than i paid for my current 300 2 years ago!!
  24. i just love this sort of comment (that's it guys, keep my residual value up pls!) thanks for the info Darren - nice to have it all together in one place.
