My RX300 is having an issue with the power lift tailgate. Unlock car press button to open the tailgate and it just bounces like it jammed on something, second press and it usually opens. If i try again a few minutes later you just get the thumping of it trying to lift and failing to open any ideas please.

I paid £130 off ebay for ignition kit key/barrel ,immobiliser control unit and ecu. No need to programme. Car stood for 10 months and started first turn of the key.

No bulbs replaced all seem ok fuses ok.

My 2004 RX300 interior lights, mirror lights and audible seatbelt warning have stopped working. The front light switch indicator lights are still glowing but nowt comes on. Any ideas please.

Anyone have an idea where i can get a rear subframe for future use.

Private plate wont make any difference these days.

Getting my bargain lexus ready for mot found small hole in the rear o/s wheel arch so out with the grinder and welder.

Just getting my rx300 ready for its mot never thought to look at subframe. Are new subframes available or is it parts and patches. I know it needs 2 front tyres and 2 wishbones drop links. As the car only cost me £200 and came with 2 shiny new wishbones am not too worried about possibility of new subframe. Are there any othe danger spots i need to look at.

Had this issue with my rx 300 when i bought it. We removed the foot well side kick panels disconnected all joints and cleaned. We also cleaned up all the earth points and connections we could get to and all ok now. Think the problem caused by sunroof pipes being blocked.

I am smitten by my bargain rx300 but thinking of going for a 400/450h in the near future. I want the space the 300 gives me but would like some feedback on other models and any advice what to look out for please.

Drains were definitely blocked. Had to take out drivers carpet and dispose of soundproofing.

My rx300 drivers footwell is soaked any ideas where i should be looking please. Everywhere else is ok.

I did wonder if its the vvt causing the slight delay. the car had been standing around 8 to 10 months before i bought it and had a lot of electrical faults along with burnt out ecu. it had probably only done about 20 mile trips since i first got it back on the road. The 136 mile trip was its first real journey in 12 months. And i am smitten so selling both my land rovers ready to buy a newer lexus.

Took my rx300 on its first real journey since purchase. Took it to bristol 136 miles motorway. The car went really well but occasionally it seemed slightly hesitant changing down when i pushed the accelerator to overtake it was like it was having a think before kickdown. Other than that it was fine and even better when i went to fuel station and refilled to brim it was £25.30 and that included spilling out onto the floor. Would a flush be advised or am i at the start of an issue.

I know its a different vehicle but when i drive my xc70 and swap to manual select it shows what gear i came into but my lexus only shows 4th. regardless of position even if stopped. so my auto select says 4 gears but my manual select shows 5 gears. i know i have probably confused you but am trying to found out if my auto is 4 and overdrive.

Thank you all for your input most helpful. Today I noticed an oil leak from front cam cover gasket will get a new one ordered.

No I pulled all the dash etc apart because no electrics were working. The previous owner was trying to fit air horns and drilled through the main wiring loom. He removed wipers and scuttle panel to solder wires but car would not start. He replaced the ecu as a garage informed him he probably fried original.The scuttle was left off for months until they were fed up with trying to fix it. They contacted a scrappy who offered them £150 I upped it to £200 and got the car. I found the fault was the ecu and bought a replacement from ebay for £130. it was complete steering column. ignition and key, ecu and the immobiliser module. Once fitted the car started first turn of the key. Most of the dash didn't light up, windows would not go down, tailgate didn't open no central locking the only thing that worked inside the car was the radio. So out came most of dash and I cleaned every connection and earth points as there had been a lot of water ingress where scuttle was left off. Everything back together and all of it works as it should. It also came with a new set of discs pads and callipers. I was also given a new pair wishbones with bushes and ball joints, oh and it also had a full tank of petrol. Oh I did break the roof aerial at the car was and had to spend £12.95 on a new one.
