  1. Had time to crawl under the car yesterday and look into the exhaust leak....quite bad... So the question: Longlife stainless steel system at £899.00 ( very near my place ) OR 1. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Catalyzer-Exhaust-Centre-Y-Pipe-Silencer-LEXUS-Mk-3-GS-300-350-430-460-450h/312894090019?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649 £360.00 and 2. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/For-Lexsus-GS-300-350-450-3-0-2005-2011-exhaust-system-5277/324050043695?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649 £175.00 Total £535.00.
  2. Putting everything back is always simpler than taking them apart! All those seized / rusted nuts and bolts! But the joy when one managed to loosen them! Changed my rear shocks yeaterday and after a lot of swearing and a can of Plus Gas I know that feeling!
  3. Having replaced all the shock absorbers ( KYB ) and got rid of the knocking noise, I now find that road noise is very intrusive from most road surfaces except newly laid smooth tarmac! Is this from the tyres? What is the least noisy tyres fro the 2005 GS300 mk3? - Landsail? Appreciate any input from more experience owners. Thanks.
  4. Rear shocks arrived yeaterday so decided to tackle this job. Seized nuts and bolts! A can of PlusGas, let it soak into the nuts and bolrs and 4 hours later all done. Handling and ride ...smooth and firm. Next job - the exhaust....
  5. Changed the plugs, a bit of a struggle!, a set of Denso FK20HBR11 and engine is much responsive. I suspect the sparkies were never changed in her entire life!
  6. Sadly no clubs of such back where I came from. Just a few friends who owned bikes so gathering at houses and coffee shops...as I owned a bike repair shop I did most of the repairs and service for my friends.
  7. Just a set of heavy duty spring compressor, a ball joint splitter and the usual sockets and spanners. And plenty of PlusGas (WD40)! A faily straight forward job.
  8. Changed the front shock absorbers, took me 3 hours to do both sides. She rides smooth now. Rear will be done next week.. More work in the coming weeks...
  9. Picked up the 2 wings, mine were rotten at the top edges..thought of repairing them they are rusted through. Not to replace them both.....job for tomorrow and monday, together with the front absorbers.
  10. I last rode the Beemer about 20 years ago...the bike got heavier as I got older 🤣
  11. I started with a Honda Cub C50. Then progressed to a 90 Sports, a CB500-Four. Last bike was a BMW R100RS. Been thinking of going back to bikes at some point...but which one???
  12. Hooray....has the aircon serviced and regas and now it's ice cold ....just in tome for this heat!
  13. I was reading up on the IS250 and GS300 and stumbled onto here...
  14. Fortunately no....but I haven't driven it much...just getting on with the work needed when I am off... Enjoying every minute of this ...I used to own a garage 17 years ago in my home country...missed all that!
  15. Problem with garages etc..... they charge for service ie oil, filters and plugs but how many can be trusted that is the question! I bought mine at 134k miles and seller showed me the invoice for service done at 132k miles ( oil, filters and plugs ). However I checked and only the oil and air filter were changed! The oil filter cap looked too dirty to have been opened so I did the service myself to confirm it wasn't changed. Plugs were not changed too,. Same for pollen filter! Will get my tranmission and axle oil change soon.
  16. My side mirrors arrived from Lithuania and replaced both . Now she looks better.... Plastic covers in engine bay installed, new clips in place. Serviced the engine - oil ( Castrol Edge 0-40 fully synthetic ) and filter ( Toyota ) change. Waiting for plugs to arrive. While under the car, had a good look at the belt. Slight cracking so will need changing. Oil leak on the left hand side above the aircon compressor - any idea where from? Also replaced the NS front wheel arch liner - mine was damaged at the fromt lower so leaving a gaping hole. More jobs to do - waiting for shocks to arrive. Decided to repace all 4 with KYBs. Cheers....
  17. John, Thanks. The tool tray is present. I took the spare wheel out and the boot floor is intact - no sign of accident damage. Its just that the tool tray seems to be sagging so I thought that there might be a buffer between the spare wheel and the tool tray - as in 2007 > model. Cheers.
  18. Hi all, Am new to this forum having joined recently after acquiring a 55 GS300. Car is in decent condition but missing a few bits. I find the boot floor to be sagging and on inspection there is nothing between the tool tray and the spare wheel. Question - is there a styroform piece between them? Thanks.
  19. Looks that way... I tried re-setting it but no luck. So looks like either I change the batteries or just get new ones. Understand they need programming (?) Cheers.
  20. Oh...I forgot...the TPMS light is on too...so need to sort this out too! Arghhh...this list is getting longer...🤪
