  1. While replacing the front fenders I noticed the front tyres were of different sizes!!! 245/40/18 on the OS and 245/45/18 on the NS! Previous owner must have replaced and not noticed it. I did feel that the steering was a bit vague........ Time for 4 new tyres....😬
  2. Replaced rusted front fenders today... Used fender fitted...quite a satisfying job...she looks much better now.
  3. Some photos of shock change...
  4. Would this eliminate the red triangle warning sign as well?
  5. 4 new KYB shocks at £85.00 each from Autodoc and she rides smooth.
  6. Swapped the seat myself - just 3 connectors and 4 bolts and that's it. Still have my old seat - if ever I am tempted to have a go at replacing the torn bit....mmmm I might just remove the back cover, buy the replacement leather and when on holiday back in my home country get this done for peanuts! Now that's an idea.....
  7. Yes it is. My 2005 GS300 has rust on both sides - just where the lips trapped the dirt! I souced 2 used panels and planned to replace both in the next couple of weeks.
  8. John, Thanks. Was thinking of getting another set of rims and try out the higher profile tyres. Will report back once I am in the comfort zone. Cheers.
  9. John, That's true. I will consider 45 profile comes the time. I agree if not in the GS then the comparison is of no value. Thanks.
  10. Well, having gone over the smoother sections of the M25 it seems that the road surface may be the problem and not the tyres. Will try out more stretches in the coming weeks to conform. And as you suggest, ride in a friend's car to see the difference.
  11. As mentioned in another post, I did a 120+ mile journey earlier in the day and the tyre noise are decent on smooth motorways. But when the road surface is rough the noise is terrible. Since tyres have plenty of life in them will keep until time to change. Thanks for all your input and will bear these in mind when changing tyres.
  12. Hi, Apologies for delay in getting back. PM me your address and I will get this in the post for you. Cheers. Joe
  13. Must be tough getting all the nuts and bolts off! I replaced the shocks on my 55 GS300 and had a few choice words with all the seized and rusted nuts and bolts! Wish I have the place ( 2 post lift ) and time to rebuild the suspensions - both front and rear!
  14. Did a temp. repair to the leaking exhaust and silence! Took her on a 120 mile return journey this lunch time and what a bliss...enjoyed the ML sound system without exhaust noise! Getting to experience how silent the GS should be.... Must say I am very pleased with this purchase....a cheap entry to Lexus world ( though I did owned a Harrier 2.4 the last 8 years.) Only thing left to do - change the transmission and rear axle oil,
  15. I found some damage to the sills on my GS300 recently while working inder the car. The lip of the sills were crushed. An adjustable spanner and brute force did the job of straightening them. So either trolley jacks or 2 post lifts were the culprit.
  16. Cool... Rims are 18" so may have to live with that...but will consider 17" if the higher profile can reduce the noise.
  17. Thanks everyone. Appreciate all your inputs and recommendations. I will look into getting all 4 tryes replaced and sort out the TPMS at the same time...
  18. Hi John, Thanks. Tyres are a mix bunch! 2 Runways at the front, a toledo and a Nexen at the back! 245/40/18s all round. Time I get rid of these...
  19. I have an extra one. Yours for the cost of postage, if you want it. Cheers.
  20. Drive seat has a bad tear ... the proforated leather on the seat back was badly torn. Tried contacting some upholstery repair shops and price quoted is eye watering! Managed to source a used one from fleabay. Picked up and replace...Lexi is now looking good. Only the B pillar trim to do...again the cover is damaged. I order some upholstery vinyl and the colour match is perfect. Wating for the spray on glue to tuen up.... Happy with my progress so far....
  21. Thanks. After putting in so much effort to replace the missing parts etc this Lexi has become a labour of love. So yes...stainless steel exhaust system it will be... Will update when I get an appointment to discuss the system with Longlife. Cheers.
