  1. My wife had a 1.8 petrol automatic Verso in 2015. Smooth and quiet, but fuel economy comparable to a RX450h! I have a friend who had the 1.6d (BMW engine) and he sold it early due to lack of power and issues with the engine, so I would go for the 2.0l diesel. Fuel is a highly visible cost, but depreciation and garage costs much less visible. Sometimes marginal fuel savings can be quickly negated by these larger "hidden" costs.
  2. On my last tank, I got 39mpg without trying too hard.
  3. The RX is more than fast enough for my needs, and I've never felt short. However keep in mind, although labelled AWD, it's really FWD. The majority of the power when accelerating hard will go to the front wheels as it has a physical connection to the ICE (Internal Combustion Engine). The rear axle is an electric motor that helps out. In short if you accelerate hard off in wet slippery conditions, expect the front wheels to break traction. The rear axle will give you, at slower speeds, a hand push out of a muddy field. If you are a fast driver I think you are going to be disappointed with the driving dynamics. It's a heavy car, with weight placed high. It will get up to speed, but it's not the sort of car that wants to be hustled down a road. Capable, but not a drivers car. It's at home making progress and wafting around, not racing around. If you want to drive fast you'd be better served by an estate car etc.
  4. I’ve only had them a couple of months (so summer use) and so far I am happy with them with no real compromise over a summer. No winter testing yet. Having on previous cars run two sets of alloys one with summer and winter, I expect that the winter performance won’t be as good as dedicated tyre.
  5. It will be a modification according to the insurance company as it deviates from the standard manufacturer specification.
  6. I wondered about this myself, and if the tyre would rub on any steering/suspension components?
  7. I had a set of these tyres fitted, which are all season, and I am very happy with them. I haven't had an opportunity to test them in the snow yet! GEOLANDAR CV® G058 | Yokohama Tire
  8. Thank you for posting these pictures. I'll be looking to place an order sometime, hopefully soon!
  9. Reject, swap for another one. You've given plenty of opportunity to fix the issue. Characteristic of the car is nonsense, mine has never done this. Rust is a characteristic of metal, but I wouldn't accept it on a 2016 car, neither should you accept this noise.
  10. So the 20” Yokohama Geolanders where fitted to my RX450h today. You should remember I am comparing old worn Bridgestone Duellers with new Yokohama Geolanders. It’s hardly a fair comparison. On other cars I’ve fitted Michelin Cross Climates as I prefer an all round tyre, rather than one more focused for summer. I needed a tyre that can cope with living a rural location, the occasional muddy field and farm track, and the British winter countryside without too much of a compromise on the motorway and town. Noise, comfort and safety are important to me, not Nürburgring track times! I’ve only done a dozen or so miles, but initially I am really impressed. I was concerned that the Duellers are rated at 69db and the Geolanders are 71db, but to me the Geolanders are quieter. Perhaps tyres get noisier with wear, but I am impressed with their quietness. The ride is a better, less minor road vibration. I had thought the car needed a geometry check as I wasn’t happy with the steering response, but that’s now all resolved. Again this could be due to worn tyres. Overall I am impressed, and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend. They’re marked with mud and snow, and deeply grooved and sipped, but not the three peaks symbol ( a more demanding criteria for snow). Initially, very happy with the purchase and happy to recommend.
  11. I’ve just ordered the Yokohama Geolanders from Black circles delivery and fitting for £678. I always try and do all four tyres together, and ask the garage to rotate at service time. I managed to get 26k miles out of the Bridgestone Duellers. Would have got more, but the outside edges of the tyres are heavily worn. Perhaps I need to slow down on roundabouts!?
  12. Are they M&S marked or 3 peaks? I am interested in an all season tire. . Thanks.
  13. It's only detachable not retractable. Best to get it fitted from new, otherwise it's very expensive.
  14. Good to hear some positive feedback on the Grom. This is looking like my first choice.
  15. If my memory serves me correctly... Look under the passenger glove compartment there is fuse box, and it's cleared marked a S/Roof. Or you could do as I did on my journey a couple of weeks ago, just put some electrical tape over the moon roof button to remind you not to press it.
  16. Thank you Herbie, I look forward to hearing more. I am considering the GROM audio solution if anyone has experience of that unit?
  17. Hi, I've got a RX450h 2019, live in the UK, and I am looking to add CarPlay. I am reasonable competent with minor car electrics, dashboard removal and looking to do this myself. I was wondering if anyone else had done this, had successes or failures, could recommend a unit or a provider, or even a car hifi speciailists who has fitted one? Thank you.
  18. I've regular use a roof bars and a box with my RX450h with panaromic with no issues. I always remove the fuse for the sunroof so I can't accidentally open it as the roof bars could obstruct. I am also very careful with loading the bars and box so as not hit the glass, and not to overload the roofbox. I've not had any issues, and I am aware of other who do the same. I've taken the risk and had no issues, but it's your risk.
  19. I towed 1650 kg fine with a 4th generation RX450h. My car came from factory fitted with a towbar, I understand doing this afterwards can be a bit pricey. Personally if you are using this car mainly for towing, I would go for a turbo diesel, as it has better torque than petrol. We don't so the V6 hybrid works fine for us.
  20. I spoke with Lexus technical regarding this. On the 4th generation (which I own) the cars are not been targeted due to the location of the catalytic convertor in the engine bay.
  21. I would be very interested to hear how you get on. Are these just for winter or do you intend to have them on all year? I don't really fancy buying and storing a set of 20" tyres and rims!
  22. I've had cross climates on another car and they're excellent all season tyres but not excellent winter tyres. of course much better than summer tyres in the snow. I only wish they did them in 20 inch rim size of the 450h.
  23. I've fitted Whispar bars with my panaromic roof and fitted a very large roof box with no problems. I remove the fuse for the sunroof to ensure that it doesn't make contact. You need to be very carful fitting the bars and box that you don't hit the glass.
