Interesting and thanks Paul. I’ve just gone to the garage, unlocked the car, opened and closed the driver’s door and left it unlocked. Lo and behold minutes later … I have a few small niggles with the car and am visiting the dealer tomorrow. This is one of them but it seems it’s simply incorrect nomenclature. Back to the 1960’s Japanese motorcycle manuals that advised you to slow down and “tootle the horn” when passing a horse?

I agree that it’s worth bringing up that the Lexus Link app is rather poor. I’m having to visit the dealer on Wednesday to, hopefully, get it fulling functioning. There’s a problem with the infotainment system trying to log on to a dead url (lexus.eu). It’s way too complicated to set up. Does anyone else constantly get messages that a door isn’t properly closed when it is? It also stubbornly refuses to give my home address accurately. It’s made up a house number and a post code that probably doesn’t exist. A lot of the functions are circular and keep just going back to “my car”.

I agree. I’m going to give it a two star review. Being able to connect to the car and obtain data is great, but the app is difficult to get around and not at all intuitive. The mapping and send to car is quite poor.

I agree that being a cash buyer won’t get you a better price (I’ve just been through all this). Ian above is bang on the money (excuse the pun) with his advice. Anyone with an interest in landing an order will tell you that delivery will be November to January. Everyone else will forecast a delivery date of April to June. And, yes, you are obliged to pay the price as at delivery date, not order date.

I collected my new 22MY Premium Sport Edition today. I’ve only done about 30 miles mixed motorway and urban driving, but so far it’s brilliant.

Not unlike fourbanks in an earlier post, I’ve just bought a brand new UX Premium Sport. I’ve had a CT200h F-Sport for a couple of years and decided to upgrade to a UX. I’d pretty well decided with the salesman at Lexus Belfast that I’d place an order for the 2023 MY in September. I noticed a couple of used one year old UX F-Sports on their website and decided I’d go for one of these rather that wait until Summer 2023 for delivery (and who knows what the price will be on delivery?) So on 2 September I wandered into the dealer, asked for my usual salesman, sat in reception and eventually asked him about the two used UX’s. He replied, “I have sitting outside a brand new Premium Sports. It’s a cancelled order. While you were waiting I did some sums and can offer you that brand new UX for less than either of the used ones. I know what I’d do.” I went through all the numbers with him and 15 minutes later we shook hands on it. After we’d strictly speaking done the deal I mentioned that I’d like a dashcam fitted along with a boot liner. I offered to pay but he said, “I can find space for that.” A great deal, and I pick it up on Thursday. I can’t wait.

That’s interesting, because I was told by Lexus Belfast that the Premium system is upgradeable. I wonder who’s right? Probably Lexus themselves.

You don’t say whether you’re buying new or used. £2K imo is too much if used. Having said that I’d dearly love the premium infotainment system which will soon be upgradeable to Apple CarPlay (and the Android one). But if you’re not going to use it you’ve answered the question already.

2018 F-Sport. I’ve had problems connecting an iPhone and Android. The manual says you can connect up to 5 phones, the dealer said 4. They don’t tell you that you can’t connect them at the same time - only one. You can register 4/5 but only use one.

What year is your car, please, and where is the SD card slot? I fear mine (2018) is dealer only.
