The agreement is shows that Europe strongly believes H2 will be a critical step forward in energy.
  2. The way you describe your diving habits, the Continental model you have chosen probably is the right tyre type for you. For people with less sporty cars, considering comfort as very much needed, the Continental UltraContact could be the better choice. Having fine tuned cruise controls (aftermarket) before it was standard on most cars, I have tried very many different brands of tyre and have never found any better than Continental in all kinds of weather; Denmark has all kinds of weather. The Michelins, that were on the Audi and VW 3L diesels from factory were not more than OK in rain. The Pirelli that came from factory on the CT are not quiet.
  3. Do you think they make 2 different models? One for polite people and one for us barbarians! Happy that all CT were made in Japan.

  5. Being old fashioned and having used Continental tyres on most of our cars without problems there is little to no reason to go for other brands for us. Did put on a pair of same Pirelli that original was on the CT when first were close to not good enough and that was a mistake not going to be repeated. 80K km 2 sets of tyres on paved roads in a tiny CT is really bad, when Continental tyres on a heavy MB350SE on all kinds of really bad roads in Africa lasted 50K km. Tyres are now nearing the point where new are needed and though the rear are not really worn 4 new UltraContact are planned to be put on rather soon. Have been in car business and company was selling tyres, but never recommended very cheap tyres. You seldom get more than you pay for.
  6. For me it will again be Continental. This time UltraContact. For cars that mainly drive on paved roads, it will be hard to find something better than Continental.
  7. If you always recirculate the air the windshield will need to be cleaned more frequently than if you let fresh air in.
  8. Hybrid battery has 15 years warranty as long as you keep going to Lexus / Toyota yearly either for service or hybrid battery check. Like Herbs said: 12V battery is the weak point if car is not used regularly.
  9. Believe in the batteries. That is the only thing that is warranted, not the computer constrol system to it or anything else. Just the battery.
  10. Never turn off air-condition. In summer for obvious reasons, but many do not know that in winter it is far more needed in colder countries. Also, when aircon is on all parts of it are kept lubricated and will last much longer if not forever. Never had condensation inside the car. In cold countries cars without air-condition are close to impossible to keep dry in winter. I lived in one before moving to where we have 20 degrees Celsius at night.
  11. My wife saw a CT long time ago while we were driving in the old Golf and she liked it. Easiest way to keep wife happy is to let her chose next car. I did and OK with me. The CT is not a bad car. Golf used less fuel, had much more power and a good DSG but was putting black clouds out of exhaust pipe when going uphill. CR has good audio and that is fine with me. A GS is big and would be hard to find parking place to here. where parking places mostly are Fiat 500 size. Old Fiat 500.
  12. Here you have hybrid battery warranty as long as you service car with Lexus - max 15 years, same as Toyota cars. Nothing more. They are trying to sell Toyotas. Cheaper and BETTER ?
  13. If it is just one seat and only one side of the seat that need new foam or just more foam in it, it should take no much longer than taking the seat out and installing it again for a pro. UK have before made so great sofas that somebody might still know how to make a superb job.
  14. Very many points here that show you know what you talk about. I will not control all the things you mention here as I suppose you have them from reliable sources and one thing I know very much is correct. Green energy producers are not at all green. Windmill wings are made from extremely no good things and cannot be reused after they no longer are up to the task. They can be burned and produce more energy, but need very expensive filters in order not to pollute more that they have done good in their life-time. Solar cells also have rather limited life where they are producing enough to keep going. More or less same problem as with windmills. Polluting to reuse. Fusion is perfect, but not really ready yet and we cannot wait till it gets ready to reduce polluting our planet. I am against nuclear power plants as they have a left over that is highly dangerous very many years and some terrorists like radioactive material. But right now I can see no other source of energy that can provide what we stupid people think we cannot live without. Nuclear plants deliver more energy than needed very much of the time they are running and that energy can be used to produce energy that can be stored. Not in batteries as we do not have material enough on the planet to make all the batteries needed and worse, batteries are not fit for long time storing. Hydrogen could be produced from that energy and hydrogen can be stored as long as needed, and transported either in containers or pipeline. Fuel-cell trucks are delivering stuff several places and so far with good results. Electro motors are less complicated to build than combustion engines and if brushless will last very long and only bearings will be worn out. Hyundai and Toyota have combustion engines running on hydrogen and only problem so far is that the fuel line to the engine in Toyota racing car leaked and caused a fire. There are technological issues that must be fixed, but with the knowledge we have today they are easily fixed when we put our minds to it. 0 pollution is not possible but if the CO2 only come from living creatures breathing the will be annulled by trees unless we kill the bees and therewith most of the plants. Meaning: we have to stop behaving the way we do today.

  16. Different tyre sizes would not need to change any settings. Above 3 are all within 3% so should not be any problem.
  17. Difference in wheel height when tyres are new and close to being no longer legal make the wheel 10 - 20 mm smaller giving another way to get speedometer show incorrect.

I suppose the problems come from manual first written in Japanese, then translated in Google to whichever other language there is in it. 😇 Do not think there is much difference, if any, between the different model types. Software is the weak point in Lexus cars. But we live with that as long as hardware is OK. And the ML audio makes it worth to forgive for many other little problems.
  19. Brake pads make a difference. I only know from mountain biking. Have a steel rotor front and a carbon/ceramic on rear wheel. That they make dust I have no reason to doubt but seeing it - never. Bike needs a wash every time it has been out on the dirt roads/goat tracks, but as the pads on front wheel need to be replaced rather often something from them must be falling off. The carbon/ceramic rear wheel rotor seems to, not at all, take anything off the pads. Then again it is not having enough suddenly stopping power to be on front wheel as while cold it only reduces speed, completely unable to block the wheel; if applying force to it on a long tour down it gets hot and difficult to dose. Perfect for rear wheel. Resin pads are easy to modulate and do not last long on a steel rotor with holes, they fade when getting really hot so not for downhill. Sintered metal pads are a bit more on/off and I use constantly on rear wheel and if going riding with crazy guys also on front wheel. 2 minutes to change pads, 5 minutes to adjust. If it was true that Toms Racing Pads were not making wheels dirty, everybody would be using them. Who want dirty wheels?

  21. Stupid question. Well, what is to expect? Very important: wife like driving the CT, we have only room for one car in the garage. What makes the question really stupid is that we all know filling stations are not yet here. When they come, I might be able to persuade my wife to change to a hydrogen car.
  22. Sweet looking car. Understand why you want it. Warranty is no longer, as what they say is that it is warranted till 200.000km or 10 years. There is still almost 70.000km left, but the 10 years passed last year so no extra fine warranty. Like John said the hybrid battery help fuel consume unless you drive a lot in mountains. Uphill gasoline engine is what is used, and downhill, after a few minutes’ hybrid battery is full and will no longer have room to put more power in it, no matter how much longer you drive down. Our CT driven here on the mountain island use more than 6½L/100km pretty far from what Lexus inform (3.8L/100km). When you start a hybrid, gasoline engine will run till engine is warm and in very cold weather it will be longer time than here where we live. Positive and negative. Only you can decide.
  23. No more brake dust is hard to believe. Less than many other brake pads maybe, none very doubtful. That they are special for racing and whatever marketing talk is of little value for most of users of Lexus cars. When driving Lancia Rally EVO 2 we were searching for special everything, but for standard cars driving on public roads there is no reason to spend more money than the original, which on top of that may even be better for the car. Lexus / Toyota are not the biggest car maker for no reason. They pretty much know what they are doing. Good brakes are good, better brakes are better. Just like with all parts. Want better brakes, I doubt brake pads will do much no matter which kind. Brembo make some good brakes that might be better, but if car is not to use for track days on closed circuits, I am sure that what is on the very fine car you have is absolutely good enough and far better than what is on most cars.
