  1. Hi Ken My understanding is there are only two wires from the camera. One is the feed which switches the camera on and is connected into the rear brake lights. The other one sends the picture to the screen. I believe a wiring harness is required to patch this lead into the sat nav unit but there are guys on here who have definitely done it so I know it is possible! Anthony
  2. Hi Steve Looks like you have the same problem as me with the legnth of your garage. I like the wood blocks but also considering how good the tennis ball suspended from the ceiling would work. There is something nice about getting a warm dry car out of the garage on a morning!
  3. Hi Ken Glad to hear you are back driving again and glad to hear your operation went well. Now you can enjoy the remainder sunny weather driving with the top down. Sorry to have to say it but that is the ugliest reverse camera mirror I have ever seen. I can't believe a Lexus dealer would subscribe to having a system like that fitted to what is a beautiful cockpit. It is possible for the image to appear on the sat nav screen and I am sur within the £500 you mentioned. Keep posting and let us know how you get on with your new toy! Anthony
  4. The offer was probably a bog of deal 🤣 ( Buy On Get One Free)
  5. It's pretty tight for the SC, had to remove the door handles to get it in! The plan tomorrow is to remove and take 4 inch off the back of cupboards.
  6. It's our age Malc....I had to look them up, but then I felt better because I did know them really 😂🤣
  7. Hi John Just re read what you said and the over £5000 was one of the builders quotes! That was to acrow prop the roof up, remove the old lintel facing stones, remove both lintels and the centre pillar. Then fit new steel, the row of stones above it and noggins, concrete the floor where the pillar was and finally trim 3 inch off one of the sides so the frame could bolt onto an aperture which was all the same as the other side and the lintel. Oh, and build a stud wall and pin thick black visqueen to it! All that was £1350
  8. Yes John, I would have liked to have brought it in under 5k in total but to be honest I worked really hard to bring it in at that without compromising quality or dodgy workmen.
  9. Sorry John thats the bit that I was trying to forget! The total cost was £5850, the breakdown as follows: The complete long drain was £800. The complete builder cost was £1350. The door fitter was £3700. But my pride and joy fits much better now!
  10. Hi Guys We moved house 18 months ago and have always aspired to having a double garage, unfortunately it would have 2 manual up and over doors. With mirrors out I had less than 1 inch each side getting in it was then inconvenient because it was then impossible to open both doors. So I needed a builder I could trust with the necessary skill to remove the pillar and replace the two lintels with one. I approached several builders and some said the job was too small, others said it would be 12 months before they could do it and one wanted over £5000! Eventually through a friend having the same job done I found the right company. It was then choice of garage door brand, fitters, style, colour and price which turned out to be easier than finding the builder. The work took place last week and it was well worth the wait. It has made garaging the car so much easier. My recommendation to anyone in a similar position is definitely to do it, it is well worth it but do your homework about each part of the project it can save you £1000's and ensure you get exactly what you want! You know your SC deserves it! 20220819_100047.mp4
  11. The boot support struts on my car are sometimes lazy and require a bit of extra assistance to push it up the last couple of inches. I am presuming that this is a warning that replacement will be require sooner rather than later. It appears from research that different types of strut are available for the SC430 including air, gas and hydraulic. My first question is which one is used by Lexus? Secondly, can anyone comment about what they have bought or which they believe to be the best? As you can see, they are all made in China and are similarly priced . Thanks Anthony
  12. TimUK recently started an interesting feed about LS400's owned by famous people. It appears these included Bill Gates, Paul McCartney and Bjorn from ABBA. I wondered if anyone knows of any current or previous owners of an SC430?
  13. For the older guys out there. John Baxter was the first vet to have a TV show about his work had an early LS400 but it was as smooth as a limousine to drive.
  14. Hi Richard Welcome to the SC430 club it's great to have another northerner in the group. I watched with interest both You Tube videos by High Peaks Autos on his SC430 and thought them very fair. I had wondered who had bought it and if it would resurface on here. 🤔 3 It sounds like you have been busy since buying it and like me I am sure you will get lots of pleasure driving it and making repairs and upgrades. I am sure your comments about run flat tyres is correct as I have heard numerous times about the improvement achieved by changing them. My car is on Michelin Pilots and I have been very happy with them. I bet you are spot on with your diagnosis about your rear noise but only further investigation and stripdown will tell. I improved my front and rear brakes recently with calliper refurbishment and all new brake parts which made a vast improvement. I have a long list of work I want to do to make her the best she can be but it is a labour of love and I am thoroughly enjoying the process. I live in Meltham on the edge of the Peak District and my drives are frequently over the Pennines in your direction so I may see you one day! All the best, Anthony
  15. Thanks Glyn, At least I'm not the only one that bought the expensive ones! Besides Calvin is a great guy and is really interested in promoting SC430 and solving problems that other accessories suffer! Anthony
  16. Thanks Herbie I have a neighbour who bought a similar on from AliExpress and he was on pins until it was fitted and working but as you say it's a lot of money. They reckon they have sold some for SC430'S so it would be good to hear from one of those people. It also appears that it is designed for LHD looking at the position of the hazard light button and the roof button. Anthony
  17. That's good to know, Herbie, it is only when we hear of positive purchase experiences that some of us would be confident to purchase cheaper alternatives. All hail Grand Master! 😁 I was tempted by this at AliExpress and I am getting more confidence to make the purchase. I wonder if anyone out there has taken the plunge yet? Anthony
  18. Hi Guys I have recieved and fitted the puddle lights from SC430MODS.COM and they fit really snug and work well. They are well worth the money as, speaking from experience buying cheap sometimes means buying twice. All I have it a daytime pic
  19. Hi Guys Isn't this fabulous weather for SC430 owners, I hope my top works as it has been so long since it was closed 😀 My twin nephews are over from the US and although they come over every year it has always been Christmas so invariably appalling weather. They can't believe this climate and have been fully converted into Lexus SC430 fans. I'm sure their dad will be asked to get one on their return!
  20. I am about to buy front and rear parking sensors to fit to my SC430. There are various options and I wonder what you guys have experienced with them. First thought is just buzzers to give a warning or a set with a small screen to identify to area being warned about? Secondly flush fitting or 'wart like' as someone identified then as? I will also be installing a reverse camera at the same time. Probably also front and rear dash cams.
  21. I wonder which town in the UK wants to be twinned with that place? 🤔
  22. Are you sure James? So who is the t***t then?
  23. ...not you as well Phil Steady up at the back no giggling, eyes to the front and listen! It never was and never is pronounced ***** tone except by small boys and Top Gear presenters Whereas it is pronounced Peni (like penny) stone. I also don't want to hear about places Scratchy Bottom, Lower Swell or Nether Wallop! Even if I do find the last one amusing and possibly painful.
  24. Really??? Eh up lad! That's the kind of thing that amuses small boys!! It's correct spelling is Penistone. Pronounced as Penny stone.
