  1. I have bought tool boxes from SGS and know the company through that. I'm sure SGS would be a better product but the ones from China are nearly a quarter of the price which is a huge difference! As Lexiguy Junior banged his head on the boot lid last night because it had not gone fully up I need to make the decision and get it sorted! Ant
  2. Blimy Richard...that's a bit organised! Excellent idea and one I will certainly use on my next project. Thanks, Ant
  3. Hi Ken Glad to hear you finally got the rear camera sorted 👌 I have ordered 2 sets of parking sensors, front and rear which should arrive today. I already have new front and rear dash cam and a reversing camera. It seems sensible to fit them all at the same time and need to work out when it will be convenient to lay her up for a few days. If I can tie in refurbishing the seats and carpet at the same time, that would work well. I will let you know how the job goes with pics! Ant
  4. I needed two rear tyres soon after I purchased my car as it was approaching winter and the tread depth was not good. It had standard 18" wheels and I was considering moving up to 19's as cosmetically they do fit the arches better in my opinion. I used a great local independent tyre shop (Huddersfield Tyre & Battery) and discussed this upgrade with the manager in depth. His take was that Lexus chose 18" for a reason which was a balance of comfort, handling and cost. Knowing comfort would be the main thing for me he recommended remaining on Michelin 18's, which I did. The new rears delivered exactly what he said, comfort, and gave me improved road holding and confidence. It was the right decision for me although I'm always impressed seeing SC's sat on new 19's!
  5. I don’t mind a neighbours alarm going off because it will hopefully put perps off coming back to the area again and targetingmy cars!! It's a bit like a dog barking in the night....it would be unusual if it was for no reason and will discourage the frequenting by nefarious visitors! Ant
  6. Hi Neil Anything would be a great help pics and any measurements to get them as accurate as possible. Has the front bumper gone now? Where did you mount the control boxes and the buzzers when you fitted yours? Thanks, Anthony
  7. Thanks for that, here's a pic for all those like me that this little gem has passed by!
  8. Hi Kevin The parking sensors on the front are black so I would imagine that they will certainly be aftermarket additions. I have just ordered front and rear flush fitting ones in silver and will get around to fitting them in the next few weeks. To my knowledge I have never seen genuine factory fit sensors because if I could find that rare beast I could copy the spacings! Anthony
  9. Hi Glyn That was very informative and useful. It has spurred me into action and I have ordered front and rear flush fitting parking sensors and a front and rear dash cam. That lot will keep me out of mischief for a while! Ant
  10. Can we see a pic of this special tool Richard....you know what they say " where there's a will there's a way" Well done!!!
  11. Hi Stewart Thanks for that info, I was sure there was some famous SC owners somewhere out there. Schwarzenegger I think, the way you spelt it wasn't politically correct 😂! Ant
  12. Hi Stewart You are right some Lexus part prices are competitive and others are downright bonkers! Don't try to find logic in it, it's not Brexit or the Ukraine war it has always been like that! Anthony
  13. Hi Richard Yes you are right....silly me 😜, there is more work involved than just pulling the shafts out of the diff which would loose some diff oil! So stick to your first plan, it sounded a good one! Anthony
  14. Hey Richard Andrew might have a point, while the shafts are out it's a shame not to do the seals at the same time, and due to the loss in dif oil changing the shafts it would be a good idea to do that too! Anthony
  15. Hi Russ I feel the same way to some extent, its 40 years (surely not, I hear you cry 🤣) since I was a car mechanic and now I have to psych myself up to do underneath jobs! Topside is not bad but my milage is catching up with me as far as bending, twisting, squeezing, leaning and stretching is concerned! Technology has moved on greatly but my lack of understanding in this area has been greatly helped by the Internet and of course my friends on LOC. I do miss hard copies in the form of books I can read and pour over, I often wish Haynes had produced a manual for the SC430 I would have enjoyed that. Hi Richard It's over 25 years since I worked at a Lexus dealership and was witness to so much evidence of the quality and longevity of their vehicles. It would take me until a couple of years ago to decide an SC430 would be my retirement car. I believe in main dealer servicing so Lexus Leeds look after that and have also done other work for me too. Jordan Robinson is the service manager and a great guy always interested and helpful. I now know I made the right choice and enjoy being the owner of an SC every day! Anthony
  16. Hi guys I am insured with L&V and my renewal is due next month. I wonder if anyone has experience of discussing with an insurer about upgrades or improvements to the ascetics, performance or safety of a vehicle? Many owners of older vehicles like my SC430'S like an upgrade to modern performance brakes, LED lighting, bespoke exhaust, f & r dash cameras, f & r parking sensors and reversing camera. Should these items be discussed individually with L&V as I am not relishing that discussion, and do they have cost implications? Regards, Anthony
  17. Hi Tom The replacement of the whole driveshaft sounds a very good idea, thanks for sharing that. 👍 Anthony
  18. Hi Ken Thanks, for the info. It looks quite complex, I may have to dig deep and make another purchase from Calvin! Anthony
  19. The thought " It seemed like a good idea at the time" comes to mind. Firstly, body lift. Secondly, getting the hump. Thirdly, my wheels and spoiler is bigger than yours. I found these while looking at SC430 images on line and after initially feeling nauseous I thought it only fair to share them! Anthony
  20. Hi Ken Thanks for that, I would be very interested in what you are sent, pic if possible and of any instructions. Thanks Anthony
  21. After careful consideration I ordered puddle lights from Calvin at SC430MODS.COM. I watched his YouTube clip of the installation several times and then proceeded to fit them. This went really easy, the clipping out, wiring and refit with no problems. This was on my tarmac drive last night and didn't do the clarity and intensity of the leds justice. Truly a good product and plug and play!
  22. Hi Roy Welcome to LOC and the SC group, I hope you post on here the story of your SC and any tips or wrinkles you find? We love pics of other people's cars and this is what helps us to assist other owners. I was the same as you when I bought my SC430, I looked at it with rose coloured spectacle by I have never ever regretted the purchase. It is a fabulous grand tourer and such a comfortable car for long journeys. I am not aware of any concern with the A pillars and feel you detective work in deducing it has had a new screen I believe you have found the answer for yourself! Anthony
  23. Thanks Ken for starting what has been a very interesting feed. As I am currently considerating the alternatives of this very upgrade I have followed it closely. I already have a reverse camera but need to know where and how to connect it into the sat nav screen. Let's hope you clever guys out there will explain to me and others who are interested in simple terms what needs to be done to achieve the desired result. Anthony
  24. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and ideas! Hi Andy Not very pretty but it appears to work effectively for you. Hi Malcolm I like the sound of two bricks placed in exactly the correct position, that might be a winner! Anthony
  25. Hi Ken Yes its a nightmare struggling out of narrow spaces in a low car with long doors. Or reluctantly parking in a carpark where the spaces are narrow, leaving the car praying not to return and find creases in the panel caused by people who aren't considerate or careful. Anthony
