Road tax
T man 545645 replied to Spark plug's topic in Lexus IS 250 / Lexus IS 250C Club / Lexus IS 220D & IS 200D Club
I've just done a quick google and my 2006 auto will increase by £20 to £415 a year. -
My car was looked after by edgware road lexus until i started using Japex Automotive about 4 years ago. The main dealer changed the spark plugs based on a certain number of years even though the mileage at the time was really low. I've had them changed again at Japex last year as the car started misfiring (now on 135k!)

Hi I have a 2006 IS250. The dipped beam went, so i took it to the closest garage to get the bulb swapped out. They gave me the whole talk about possibly having to remove front bumper and I was like 'i've owned this car over 10 years, the front bumper has never been removed'. In the end they had to remove the airbox, fair enough. The dipped beam was working again. I've just noticed now that the sidelight on the drivers side is now not working, it was deffo working before the dipped beam bulb was changed. Does the sidelight bulb change on drivers side also require the airbox to come out? Many thanks Taz

Just out of interest how much did you pay for the wishbone bearings, my 2006 is250 started making a similar noise yesterday, mainly after steering / turning. Its booked to go to the garage tomorrow. I've had the car a long time, it probably needs replacing sometime soon (next year or so). Once i've repaired this problem what else should i expect to go? (ignoring braking components etc). Recently had: Battery, alternator, water pump, spark plugs, 1 x door lock actuator. Its had all the alloys refurbished 5/6 years ago as they were a state. my previous car was a corolla, i felt it was time to move on but i didnt take any action, then the gearbox went and i spent the value of the car fixing it before selling it for very little. Dont want to end up in that situation again, but car prices now are so crazy....

Lexus Ux250h damp inside
T man 545645 replied to Dazzle1983's topic in Lexus UX200, UX250, UX250h, UX300e Club
If this issue is with the Jemca dealer in Edgware Road near Hendon, i dealt with them years ago and was always left really disappointed whenever they had my car for a MOT or service. They once oil stained a cream mat and when i complained, they came out and ran their finger over the oil to check it was wet. There were lots of other trivial things but overall always left a bit annoyed, moved over to Lexus Hatfield when the service plan ran out, who were much better and in recent years with a Lexus specialist (or jap specialist) independent who are great. As the car got older it didn't seem worth paying the dealer prices... -
Thank you. Battery was fitted by a lexus specialist, i will email them tomorrow and ask if the battery is still under warranty. I said i wanted bosch (same as one being replaced) but they couldnt get hold of one and the car was off the road due to alternator failure, they offered the yuasa as it was available same day. lets see what they say....

Hi Returned from holiday today, 2006 is250. Been sat for 8/9 days. Yuasa battery under three years old. In 9 years of ownership never had it not start after being left the same amount of time previously. Open car using keyless entry, in and out of boot - no problems. Go back out 30 mins later i cant get into boot. Cant lock car (it did open tho) Green light shows on start button but wont fire up. Some of the electrics worked but not enough to start the car. Jumped and started no problem. Going on holiday again shouldnt be so cold in march, but will be parking at the airport, dont want to come back to a battery that wont turnover the engine. Should i buy one of those rechargeable battery packs or just change the battery? The previous battery lasted over six years so im suprised if i would have to change it at three years old. Any advice appreciated. Taz

Bike rack??
T man 545645 replied to Matt1280's topic in Lexus IS 250 / Lexus IS 250C Club / Lexus IS 220D & IS 200D Club
I very rarely use a Saris Bones 3 which doesn't fit exactly, its basically great for transporting 3 cycles on a hatchback, cos of the saloon shape on the is250, it can only take two cycles (you dont use the space for cycle nearest to car). Have a few different cars so this rack was the best option for me, used on the is250 over the last 8 years maybe 15-20 times - mostly just with my own mtb but sometimes 2 cycles. The lights and plates can be slightly obscured, it really depends how you attach the rack to the car. I've never been worried about being stopped by the police or been stopped. Every day I see 5-10 cars with illegally spaced number plates, they don't stop them? -
I've located the fuse for the cig lighter, using that plastic fuse extractor tool, i cannot seem to get it out, the way the fuse board is i cannot get around it to clip the tool on and pull it out. What are other people using to pull the fuses out? I have needle nose pliers but cannot get a grip on the fuse with this either.

Hi after fishing out a magnetic object from the cigarette lighter socket (the one near the seat heating/cooling control) it no longer works, i'll try and change the fuse, but i think in my haste in trying to remove the object with the house keys i've damaged it, or the magnet moved something out of place? Either way i was wondering if its not the fuse, do i just jimmy the cigarette lighter socket out with a screwdriver and can it be replaced with any after market? the connecter underneath should be the same for all cigarette lighter sockets? The car is a 2006 IS250 Many thanks

Saw this earlier couldn't believe it! Luke McCorry (@lmcbelfast) tweeted at 10:40 am on Wed, May 04, 2022: Criminal!!! Driven in to a scrapyard this morning after it failed MOT on dull headlights and a blow in the exhaust mid-box. Thankfully I was on time to save it. Would’ve been no loss if it was an IS220d, but it’s a 250 V6! https://t.co/WuLDaTlbd5 (https://twitter.com/lmcbelfast/status/1521786771675262978?t=eo4M8u-uodz7_8_vPi7TzA&s=03)

I had the same grinding noise for about 2 months, gradually getting worse, asked my local garage who service the car to take a look when MOT was done, was told it was fine, so had the lexus dealer take a look (cambridge) and they confirmed it was the water pump. They offered to change for £320. The water inlet also needed changing but they didn't charge any extra (although it meant they had the car another day while waiting for parts). Happy its sorted. Owned the car for 9 years and its had one water pump, two batteries, an alternator, set of spark plugs, brakes every so often (callipers, pads, discs etc). never broken down other then the alternator, but that was a case of not starting at home. Fantastic ownership experience so far. Also had the wheels refurbed but other then that its as i bought it.
