  1. You do have the right to choose your garage/ repairer with most insurance companies. Check your T&Cs.
  2. So do we know what the issue actually is, for those that are indeed being recalled?
  3. Good call. I will mention it in a few days when I'm taking the car to a garage (not the dealership) for another small thing. Why we have to put up with such poor infrastructure is something that bugs me every time (cross over to France and it isn't like that). ANYWAY Does anyone else hear a bit of a clicky/plasticky noise when going over some bumps? It is very subdued, not loud but audible and I haven't been able to locate it but it sounds almost like it comes from the seatbelt roll (up & right of the driver), or inbetween the doors, or inside the doors or something. I get very curious when I cna't locate a rattle or a noise.
  4. Thanks a lot @Maxz ! Where do you get these from? They seem different from the ones this guy has in his vid but they both must come from some legit source (apprear at 08:08)
  5. I realised upon receiving the car and quickly unblocked with a bit of wire. My guess is that if that gap has been designed to drain water, it would take the water to a place that isn't harmful to the car? At least I hope so! I'm not sure there is a lot more I can do about it
  6. I have never seen that on my 2018 IS300h! Maybe i need to activate it? I have the large nav screen
  7. Does this mean if I disconnect for a few seconds to fit a trickle charger (conected to the socket in my garage) it may also happen? 😕
  8. @Maxz would you perchance have the torque diagrams for the IS300h (the front suspension arm) so I can hand them over to the garage when they replace the bushings? 🙂 It isn't a Lexus dealership so I'm not sure they'll have them.
  9. Sounds odd they would tell you to do that. Not saying it isn't true but the dealer should have said "bring the car tous" instead no?
  10. Ah thats super kind of you, thank you! ... it is great to have a reference for when I do it, makes me feel a lot safer. Thanks for the tips too. I shall report back in a while when I have the chance to try.
  11. Thank you! Would you perchance have a link to the scratch doc product you use? 🙂
  12. Thanks! I ordered the GS-F bushings and they should arrive end of the month from Japan.... in the meantime I booked the car at the garage early Feb... fingers crossed. Will report back. I think I saw the adjustable parts for the rear but they were quite pricey.... upwards of 300 USD, and I'm spending quite a bit of money on this car as it is (I ended up buying one that was slightly above my budget).... but would be very curious to hear how it goes if you do fit them.
  13. Interesting! I didn't buy the leather balm because i thought that being synthetic leather seats, they would not absorbe all the good stuff in the balm and would be a waste!
  14. does the ceramic nature of the Gyeon mean it shows some cracking/crystalising or something like that on the seats after a while? 🤔
  15. As said in another thread, because of all this I have sourced in the lower front arm bushings of the Lexus GS-F (supposedly stiffer but still OEM and compatible) and currently looking for a good garage that would fit them + wheel align... I think I have found one, but not sure yet. Most don't want to install anything you bring to them! What did you end up doing @Rxv667 ?
  16. I disabled the keyless entry system (now it works like a reguar car) and bought a big yellow pro lock....
  17. Was it you who opened a thread on how to clean the filter of the battery-cooling fan in the back (the one with an air intake next to the passenger on the back right) and how it could affect consumption? Given yours is a 2014 maybe that's the case? Check alignment and air filter too.
  18. There you go @Bounce75 . we're probably on similar mileage too (mine is just below 20K miles). Sometimes I wonder wether those mudflaps affect aerodynamics and thus fuel consumption.... but it would be a shame to remove them, no?
  19. Thanks @DBIZO Truth is I mostly drive calm & steady like a grandpa (but i also like speed sometimes!), and the car wears a set of well-inflated Michelin primacy (rated A for fuel), so i guess that helps.
  20. I also had something similar to the OP: my 1st experience with Lexus left me with mixed feelings. Funny that one of the similarities was reluctance to change the the differential oil when it was something clearly mentioned in the service book, then offered to do it "free of charge" and all of that .. you can read what happened here more in detail:
  21. 😐 Makes me feel like a bit of an idiot, really. But I guess that is inevitable when you buy a 2018 car... thanks for clarifying.
  22. uummmmh interesting.... would be interesting to see if two thermal sillicone washers (where to find them that's another thing!) would both dampen the rattle while keeping temperature-safe (remember there are cooking accessories made out of sillicone that you can use in the oven) Also, I's saying rattle but i don't think i have heard anything from the inside while driving. It was while cleaning the engine bay thay I realised.
  23. How can a larger vehicle (the ES) drink less than a smaller, supposedly lighter one (the IS) ??? Mine is on around 49-50 mpg
  24. Hello I have just realised that the thermal protection panel by the side of the engine is a bit loose. I can move it with my fingers, but the bolts and washers seem pretty tight, so I'm not sure this is supposed to be like this? Would any of you know? This is a picture (part highlighted with the yellow line)
  25. I want to think that's what they meant with "we visually inspect", which is exactly what I was told via email upon asking. I have sourced in the meantime the lower front arm bushings of the Lexus GS-F and currently looking for a good garage that would fit them + wheel align... to be continued!
