  1. Hey @corpjones, I use this one: Wireless CarPlay for Lexus NX RX IS ES GS RC CT LS LX LC UX – Road Top Just make sure to select the correct navigation option based on your car (e.g trackpad, joystick etc..) Here is a post I made which includes installation instructions:
  2. 300h, I drive with eco mode on at all times and air-con on auto. Mainly school/shopping runs and average around 43-44mpg.
  3. The last service was an interim service in the book, so I guess it does work out if the next one is a full service. Thanks.
  4. I have used this: Wireless CarPlay for Lexus NX RX IS ES GS RC CT LS LX LC UX – Road Top It isnt a touch-screen but that doesn't bother me - my reading around the touchscreen and the bigger 10 inch ones are that they arent as robust/have more issues than the smaller non-touchscreen ones. Setup is fairly straight forward whichever you choose and will take anywhere between 1-3 hours depending on your skill and prior experience (I had 0 knowledge of taking apart cars but fairly DIY orientated and it seemed intuitive). I followed this video which went through the steps really well, although make sure you follow your own manufacturers instructions for the electronics (e.g. with DIP switches etc...). Overall its a HUGE upgrade in terms of functionality - really night and day. I would say if you have the premium navigation with the joystick, navigation its a bit fiddly on non-touchscreen versions as it jumps around a little, I hear those with the knob or touchpad have a better experience.
  5. Hi all, I just rang Lexus to sort out my annual service. Its a 2014 IS model with <90k on the clock - I expected to have the 90,000/9 year service but the agent said that because last time they did the 9 year service (apparently due to mileage, but at the last service this was 80,922) I need to have the 10 year service this time. Has anyone come across this at all - its a ~£200 difference. Thanks,
  6. Out of interest, what has made you switch; is it just EV issues generally, something about the Model 3 or is it preference for Lexus?
  7. Just a note, I was doing some research on the 10.25 screen and found two sources who have quoted reliability issues. The first (and probably more reliable) is BeatSonic from the US (see the 4th comment on their video 2013-2016 LEXUS IS Apple CarPlay Android Auto Install / Demo - YouTube) who stated they arent offering it due to reliability issues. The second is this chap who posted on his own install video (2015 Lexus IS 10.25 Android Head Unit Upgrade Installation - YouTube) - see top comment and who said the unit stopped working within a year. Another poster also relays his experience of reviews with similar findings too. Just thought I would mention it.
  8. Congratulations. I recently got an IS300h too and been thrilled with it, a bit older and more miles (2014, 85k) but also FSH. On the infotainment point, I've installed the Carplay system (there's a thread in this forum on it) and can highly recommend it for bringing the the system into the modern world. It will cost you around £300-350 and around an hour or two of your time to setup, but it's worth it if you value the ability to link seamlessly with Android or iOS.
  9. There's also this thread on installing carplay on the original screens. Matt, it's my understanding these are touchscreen too? Is that correct?
  10. Hi Han, In response: 1) Yes - just set the audio source to DAB either going back into the OEM system or via the steering wheel, I do this often when I dont have a podcast on. (you need to set it to AUX for the Carplay audio to come through - note the mic will still work, so you can use Siri/Google Assistant but you wont hear any response). 2) Everyone I have spoken to has commented on how good the call quality is from my side to them. Sometimes I get some interference with their audio but I still havent quite figured out if thats an issue with the phone signal or the car audio, its too intermittent for me to care. 3) I wont lie, the joystick is the worst part of it, it takes some getting used to but once you figure out the nuances its generally fine. My worst gripe is that around 10% of the time if you click the joystick (to select) it sometimes moves right and selects, infuriating when it cancels a phone call for example! What made life easier for me was figuring out that the home, up/down and menu buttons are also usable and save a lot of joystick manipulation. Honest opinion is that this would be a 10/10 if it werent for the ****ty joystick controls - I think those with knob and/or touch would have a much better time. I would still rate it 9/10 though as it really does drag the whole system into the modern world and it works really well with a modern device. You also have a lot of scope for adjusting screen (colour, contrast, saturation) and audio settings (EQ, loudness, etc...) which is great. Any questions please do feel free to ask!
  11. Contacted Lexus Twickenham for the recall (had to call myself to book), they said there is a parts shortage so will be in touch when they can offer them.
  12. Hi Feanor, I just opened mine up this weekend gone to sort out the screen flickering issue - which I did. I noticed on my system the DIP switch is set to 1234 (on) and the rest off, even though the manual suggests it should just be number 5 on. If I followed the manufacturer instructions and just set switch 5 to on, none of the controls would work (premium nav with joystick). To their credit, the manufacturer is very easy to get hold of on WhatsApp. I got the unit from AliExpress. Where did you get your unit - might be worth reaching out for support? EDIT: ignore the above, I saw you got it working!
  13. I put my car in for a diagnostic check with the Twickenham team and had a pretty good experience. Spoke to a chap called Dimitri who was incredibly knowledgeable. He immediately told me there was no issue and this was normal - I didnt believe him (that's on me), he said he was happy to put it in for a diagnostic but it would come out as £198 + VAT. A few hours later the master technician calls up and gives me the all clear - my face when there is really no problem! Turn up to collect and they kindly waived the diagnostic charge! Obviously n=1, but good experience nonetheless.
  14. Hi all, Quick question - I am taking my car into Twickenham Lexus tomorrow as I believe the CV joint has gone (get buckling when turning tight). The car wasnt involved in any accidents and theres no obvious damage anywhere on the rims or tyre itself. The car is under warranty and CV joints are covered. The dealership has sent me a message that diagnostic check cost £198 + VAT. Am I right in assuming that I wont be liable for this if the CV joint is found to have failed? This is my first experience with Lexus so any advice is greatly welcome. Thanks,
