  1. The alarm wont trigger as the factory fitted alarm system isn't designed to detect someone drilling the door. The factory alarm system will only detect a door, boot or bonnet being opened, movement inside the cabin, ignition switched on OR jacking / motion of the vehicle
  2. Sounds like one of the new breed of " security " installers that have jumped on the bandwagon, all they can fit is trackers & Ghosts.
  3. Blame the person / mod that removed the link I posted back in July.
  4. You can stay intrigued, I posted a link including a video back in July to a company that had worked out how to secure Toyota / Lexus hybrids successfully by upgrading the security system without resorting to fitting a Ghost but someone removed the link 🤣
  5. Any attempt to get at the wiring to carry out a CAN invader theft will be met with an alarming surprise as I took additional steps to protect my vehicle.
  6. Toyota / Lexus could issue a customer satisfaction campaign - if they wanted to spend money on a fix. As far as Toyota / Lexus see it, the vehicle should be insured against theft & the factory fitted security system meets all requirements for sale in the UK market. Several suitable aftermarket security options on the market for owners to pick from to protect Toyota / Lexus hybrid vehicles from theft. Am I annoyed Toyota wont provide a fix for my vehicle - not really, I knew it wouldn't happen so took additional steps to protect it.
  7. Vehicle manufacturers can only issue an official recall for SAFETY related issues, issues which could mean potential for injury or death. Theft of the vehicle isn't one of them.
  8. Make sure your following the correct start sequence as in the immobiliser quick start guide else the system wont disarm & will cause the error messages as your reporting.
  9. Other immobiliser options available as well Well I did have a link to a video to show how it works so people could have another option other then Ghost - must upset a forum mod 🤐 I wont bother trying to be helpful in future. Im off, nuke my account I wont be back.
  10. It seems Ghost immobiliser is the default answer for Toyota / Lexus customer service & social media enquires 🤔 It shows what faith Lexus UK have in the official Lexus retrofit 2nd immobiliser system 🤣
  11. Should also be recorded in the service history on your vehicles smart phone connected app / web portal. My Toyota had first service & also the hybrid health check at the same time, both are separate entries in the app service history.
  12. Lexus Link has never been an insurance approved tracking system, its easily bypassed. Some insurance companies are now refusing to recognise the factory fit Thatcham approved trackers especially on Range / Land Rover products plus Mercedes products & insist on an aftermarket Thatcham approved tracker to be fitted before covering the vehicle for theft. Factory fitted tracking systems are pretty easy to defeat as there all fitted in the same place as the vehicle trundles down the production line.
  13. Don't forget no matter what car manufacturers do, theft via OBD port is extremely easy thanks to the EU regulations 🤣
  14. I did enquire with my Toyota dealer a few months ago about the retrofit Toyota Enhanced Security System ( Lexus have there own branded version ) as I had the part number, the dealer had never heard of the system but with the part number they did contact Toyota technical in Europe, I'm still waiting on a response. Its basically a 2nd immobiliser activated by a bluetooth dongle hung from the vehicle key ring. After I enquired I found some technical details about the system & decided it's not going to stop a professional thief so did more research & I went with another option.
  15. Its an additional unit hidden elsewhere on the vehicle with an internal relay that keeps the vehicle immobilised if the Ghost is found & removed, it also has output to activate a siren or tracking during a theft attempt.
  16. Someone could always email Autowatch UK to ask if the Ghost 2 has been tested against the Toyota / Lexus CAN invader theft method. I know PFK Electronics ( Autowatch to us ) has a CAN invader device to study / backward engineer. There is also the optional Shadow upgrade available for the Ghost 2 which could be worth looking at as in enhancing the protection the Ghost offers. An alarm / immobiliser upgrade I feel is a better option, as soon as the theft is attempted the alarm warns the thieves the car has had a security upgrade fitted with a loud warn away sound, if they ignore it & continue the full alarm siren triggers, while the immobiliser stops the vehicle being driven away.
  17. One of the parts suppliers for mudflaps & other rubberised accessories to Toyota / Lexus went out of business a few months ago.
  18. I know PFK Electronics in South Africa ( Autowatch to us ) has got hold of a CAN invader device to study & backward engineer. The OBD port isn't used for a CAN invader theft, its all done via the headlamp wiring. No key programming takes place for a CAN invader theft. A circuit cut on the start / stop button on a Toyota / Lexus hybrid with an aftermarket immobiliser wont work for CAN invader or OBD port theft methods as the theft devices bypass that button.
  19. All modernish vehicle can be driven away via OBD port theft as thanks to EU anticompetition laws the port has to be open for any repair garage to connect up to - makes theft easy with the correct equipment, obviously if the vehicle has a proper key it slows the theft down. As for Ring doorbells going offline, there normally connected to the internet via the homes WIFI network - you can guess why they went off line during the theft - the thieves came prepared. I can only think of one hardwired video doorbell that doesn't use WIFI & cloud storage.
  20. That's one reason I didn't go with Ghost & picked an alarm / immobiliser upgrade instead, as soon as the thieves tamper with the wheel arch / bumper the alarm will warn them away & if they continue it will fully trigger.
  21. If they want it, they will take it, even with a steering wheel lock on.
  22. For anyone thinking Ghost immobiliser - this is well worth a watch so you can make the right choice. FWIW - I've dealt with Motorguard recently & Raf is a very knowledgeable person on vehicle security systems. There are other security options available for Toyota / Lexus vehicles depending on exactly what you want.
  23. Speaking of Ghost 2 - this is worth a watch before you consider fitting one. FWIW - I recently had the security upgraded on my Toyota, Raf at Motorguard did an excellent job.
  24. Strange that Lexus UK are not fitting there own official accessory for the UK & European market 🤔 The system is currently listed for the following Toyota / Lexus products RAV4 2018/11 FMC Gen 5, 2020/06 Plug-in Hybrid Toyota C-HR 2019/10 MMC Gen 1 NX 2021/09 FMC Gen2 RX 2022/10 FMC Gen 7 The Enhanced Security System has an additional dongle / device key - Lexus one shown below
  25. Is this 2nd immobiliser the Lexus Enhanced Security System with the little bluetooth dongle & also linked to the Lexus smart phone app? There is also the Toyota version of the same system. If it is then don't put to much faith in it, it will stop an average car thief but a professional if they know its fitted it will slow them down a couple of minutes tops.
