  1. Picked up the newly-released UK SatNav disk today from those nice people at Lexus Guildford. I have not yet managed to persuade them to join the Club discount scheme but they gave a few quid off. First disk swop in 3 years so don't feel too badly about the cost (£140 inc V.A.T. and coffee). Hopefully it will include new housing estates and stop trying to route me the wrong way up new one-way street schemes in London! There is a little more functionality than the old disk but have not yet fully explored this. Same woman belting out instructions at regular intervals (I've had one for years before they even thought of sat nav).
  2. On my GS300 Mk2 the handbrake light stays on after having released the lever. Needs to be cycled a few times for it to go off and much worse these cold mornings. Taking it in to Lexus Guildford tomorrow to get it sorted. Anyone else had experienced this?
  3. On my '98 GS Mk 2 the battery is a CR 1616 lithium button cell. The trade price of this is £1.20 ex V.A.T. In my experience they should be replaced (on both keys) each year. The range is pretty good on a new battery- around 50 metres or so. If the dealers charge £6 - £10 each time, that's a nice margin albeit a small amount on money. It's only a two-minute job. Is there no way the Club could hold stocks as an additional service for members? The cell type may vary according to the model and age of the vehicle. Steve, over to you!
  4. Ricky, This could be your lucky day. My guy, Steve is to installing cellular in cars what Da Vinci was to painting ceilings. He is the only person I would let loose on my Lexus. Steve is based in Basildon (hence the response) and very reasonable. E-mail me and I'll let you have his details.
  5. Anyone been on a visit round a UK or foreign car factory and has a story to tell?
  6. Loz, It's a doddle to fit - even first time on the Range Rover. Just lay back and think of Solihull. :)
  7. Hi Loz, Fitting time is no more than one hour DIY. Should be easy for a garage who have tools and a ramp readily to hand.
  8. Have not had this problem on my GS but have on an earlier car. Take a look at the earth cable between the engine unit and the chassis. If you can, check the resistance between the battery negative and the engine. The battery negative and the engine are each connected separately to the chassis separately as the engine is on rubber (isolating) mountings. A poor earth connection to the engine will cause the probelm your are experiencing.
  9. Hi Paul, There will be a new CD available from January according to Lexus GB. The cost will be around £ 160. Maybe you could get your dealer to throw in that one as mapping changes quite a bit between issues - new estates, one-way systems and so on. The Lexus system is great inasmuch as it will always get you there. The choice of route can sometimes be illogical.
  10. Hi Steve, Lexus UK told me that the new CD (non-DVD) is due for release this month. Price around £ 160. My present one is 3 years old and I believe there has been one release since then. Your post has prompted me and I am going to recheck with Lexus UK tomorrow. It is a little irritating to have a really great system like this and find that new estates and one-way systems are not covered.
  11. Anyone going to the Motor Show? I went today and there are a few interesting new vehicles including the £70k VW Touareg and a stunning coupe from MG called the XPower. Not much new at the Lexus stand although the staff are nice to chat to. They did have the 2-litre SportCross at £22k and a Lexus concept car driven by Tom Cruise in Minority Report which cost a bit more. The concept car looks very un-Lexus and the only way to tell the front from the back is to try and locate the exhaust pipe.
  12. That depends where you are. If I'm driving round Essex she drops her 'h's and giggles a lot.
  13. Hi Vince, Can't scan it but U2U me with your fax number and I'll send a copy over.
  14. There is a good one-page article on buying a second-hand IS200 in this week's Auto Express. Worth looking at and the mag is a really good read anyway.
  15. I'm fairly certain as I remember asking Lexus UK on one occasion. Take a look at their website at www.nakamichi.com for lookalike products to the GS300 Mk 2 unit
  16. Mojo, Always the wrong time or the wrong place! We company's looking for a VBA developer but we are based in Hertfordshire
  17. Where is this capacitor supposed to be wired to, what value is it and what is it supposed to do?
  18. No, just bitches when I light a cigarette or change the radio station.
  19. Chris, I have no doubt you are right but the aerial on my GS is an element in the back window, lower driver's side. It has a separate cable feed from the rear pillar
  20. That's right. The lady got her costs awarded but they declined to return the Kit-Kat. Two fingers to Hampshire Police and not before time.
  21. Thank Chris. Much appreciated. My dealer (Guildford) won't give me any privileged information because they know I like to fiddle with things. It was only in a weak moment that they told me where the satnav aerial is (it's built into the back screen).
  22. Chris - if it doesn't breach the Toyota Hippocratic oath, you gonna help us out on this?
