  1. There's an LS400 Taxi here in Bristol somewhere. Taxifast in Plymouth used to have a Jaguar XJ8 on their fleet. The woman on the phone used to reckon he had nearly as much work as the rest of the company put together, as everyone who rang up always asked for it! I wonder if the guy who had it worked out whether the increased popularity compensated for the extra fuel it used? Mike Theres a black IS200 taxi in Leeds Tried to get it a few times but only get Avensis's from same co.
  2. There are a lot of threads on this - do a search for more views. Mine juddered in 1st a bit, and started slipping at around 80000 miles after thrashing it from a standing start. But I had not changed it a year later, and it really only slipped if doing the same thing. Can get non OEM clutchs for about £150 and same for fitting.
  3. My experience with dell is bad - business though not personal. I have heard they use old component stock that they buy cheap from component makers- thats why they seem to be cheap. I bought 3 about 2 years ago, 1 replaced 3 weeks ago - other 2 are struggling. Strangley, I got two recently from PC world business on line, one for about £250 (with DVD writer and more) and the other was £ 125 - I kid you not. Just the pc though and it had Linux on it, but put windows on it from the binned PC. You could always try these who I have used and are good : ccl or light computers we built our server from coponents from these and it is incredidably quick and cost about £500 in component form though. If you do go with Dell, they change their offers very often, and often do free delivery and double RAM offers - keep an eye out
  4. In Spain on way to airport for return trip home, sister in law and family stopped for a coffee and something eat as they had a late flight. Returned to car - door locks screw drivered - everything gone, cases, bags, nintendos etc , the lot , all except for passports and money, which they had with them. Today - at home two weeks later - their car window smashed and cds and radio gone. Insurance liabiltiy or what
  5. I think it was really hard - er thats why I was really slow
  6. :duh: Its painted round the edge - has mesh, and a sport badge Keep the badges but get it lowered - its too high just like mine was
  7. I had exactley the same problem. Mine had a few inches in it by the time I sold it !! Hope the new owner is an LOC member
  8. E7 doesn't work to well with HSBC Net - HSBC Net fault
  9. Anyone on M62 between Manchester and Leeds notice a Combo van and a BMW pulling over to the hard shoulder every few miles ? If you did . It was me. Our Combos wipers went whilst on route to a desperate delivery. I had to go and help as the driver had no clue. Anyway the linkage was just a press fit and kept coming off. The hard shoulder is definately no place to be on the M62 on a Friday evening. He had to keep look out whilst I had my head under bonnet just in case. Very scary.
  10. Well.. Firstly I do not think that I should "get off with it", because a law is a law. But when some t**t goes past you just after the van, then the law is taking the p**s. He knew it was a 30 slowed and shot off after the van, me - I slowed down after getting zapped. Everybody speeds at some time. You are lying if you say you have never sped. I also hate people on mobile phones when driving, I have a £70 hands free thing with voice name activation, so why cant everyone else. But maybe I would answer it and put on speaker if the hands free battery was dead. As for saying dont speed it kills, come on get off the soap box . I'll mention that to my mum who lost her first child a few weeks before being born, as well as being in hospital for 6 months being put back together because some nutter went through at red at enough sped to leave my old mans van 40 yards away from the lights and my mum even further. The point is I was driving safely within a speed limit that I thought it was - (at some point it was 60 then 40 and then somewhere changed to 30 ) I wasn't driving like a tw*t, and in fact the camera van parked on the road in front of me distracted me as well, and if somebody had stepped out in front of my whilst I am checking my speed (which you do even at 30) or looking for signs confirming the speed limit, or even trying to make out if it is a camera van, whose to blame me or the camera van ? Me - no doubt. I am all for cameras - fixed in areas that are proven or even thought to be dangerous, 99% slow down (if you know them or see them) and thats what they are there for as a deterent to save lives- but mobile cameras are there to catch you out. Period. There is no doubt that cameras are now inplace by councils that what to raise funds. The real reason they are there is not important to the council. IMO. All said if they have the proof then I must be guilty. But I'll send in my PACE form though. In heinsite maybe I should have just driven into his van, it was an obstruction after all, and I had to manouvere to avoid it, even if the lanes are very wide at this point. :D Any way thanks for the constructive comments and web sites- Maybe I should change my user name - I suppose it implies I am a t**t
  11. I though the points were dealt with at the DVLA as well as court, and it doesn't make any difference if you have your license available or not. I was caught twice, once in 98 (65 in a restricted 50 on motorway - 5 points and £335 fine ) and in 99 (92 on the M40 - 4 points and £335 again :o ) and both times I did send my licence and they wrote the points on in biro. When we then moved house, lost my license and requested a new one - there they were printed in all their glory. They must have a record somewhere, whether it's actually written on your licence or not... Yeah my previous ones were written in biro. £335 - how come so much ?
  12. When did you ask for the photo ? When you sent back the NIP. Can you say you cant rememebr who was driving and then they have to prove it ?
  13. Been watching for the notice in the post and unfortunately it arrived this am. 37 in a 30. The daft thing is I honestly thought is was a 40, so ok ignorance is no defence (no seriously I really thought it was) , but its a massive main road. I was doing 40 and slowed a little when I saw the van up the road, thinking I'll just keep a couple under forty and I am ok, then as I was passing the van I thought "hang on a minute is it a 40 and frantically searched for signs, but found none. I almost wanted to stop and go back and ask if I was caught. I might try and ask for the photographic evidence, only worry I have is that may number plate, whilst having standard letters spells my co name, (this format A777 AAA) but is actually spaced like this A777A AA (not these actualy letters), so if I try and get off, may be they will do me for wrong spacing. And to make me feel even worse as of 30.10.06 my licence was clean from a previous SP30 (whilst in an unknown area with no street lights looking for a hotel and having a blazing row with the missus) , this new one was done on 2.11.06, so my licence was clean for 2 days. Any one any suggestions.
  14. I reckon a white transit would have had him
  15. I hit a fiesta up the a*** in my IS200 a few years ago. He stopped at a zebra before the pedestrian even got to the crossing. The Fiesta had a small dint in the back corner. I had : new lights (not smashed but broken brackets), one wing, bonnet, bumper, one radiator, various aircon stuff, timing belt cover, timing belt, and no doubt lots more bits and bobs, and then an alternator and cat ! In fact if you look at my post in this threadhere - i never got rid of a noise that developed as a result. Considering he only ended up a foot into the zebra, I reckon I had reduced my speed a lot when I hit. So, yes they are well built, but it all depends on where the point of impact is. Hope it is a painless claim against her. I have a few stories about that as well. Not that I crash a lot
  16. Try getting a "centre punch" which you hit against the middle of the bolt and then the drill should stay in the middle. You could may be use a strong nail if you cannot get your hands on a centre punch. Stick a photo on and I will ask my engineers for other suggestions (tomorrow). They do this sort of thing on pumps all the time. Try getting a "centre punch" which you hit against the middle of the bolt and then the drill should stay in the middle. They do this sort of thing on pumps all the time. I should of tried that before i started drilling. Now i have started a small hole next to the snapped off piece of bolt. I am going to attempt to fix it in the morning as i only have about 3 hours to cure the problem as it is being used as a funeral car at 2.30pm. Thank you VERY much for your input. If i had longer i would place a photo but as speed is of the essence i need to sort it asap! The bolt was weak. I have done these many many times before with no problems. I have just bought an Ls430 and saved myself £710 by servicing it myself. Just got to sell my old pride and joy (Is300 FULLY loaded) THANKS once again. I always look at the L.O.C site and scour the forums. I am Lexus mad. I even had my drive made with Lexus written in the block paving! Mad eh???? Yeah thats mad !! Actually theres a guy 1/2 mile up the road with a prancing horse on his drive ! and yes he has a Ferrari (git). Good luck mate - if your where in Leeds and send a lad round to help you in your hour of need.
  17. Was it damp this morning ? If it was sounds like belts loose, if it is not squeling when the engine bay is dry from engine heat. Generally if you twist each belt in the middle (between two pulleys) as a roiugh guide you can usually twist them 90-180 degress - any more and its loose.

  19. I haven't read all the replies, but I would say that you have a sticking caliper. This would explain poor acceleration, but more or less definately explains why when you take your foot off the throttle you hit your head on thesteering wheel. I had the same problem - and so have others. What happens when you are on a very slight slope. Does it roll ? When you are moving very slowly, say up to a car infront at lights does it grab ? Probably explain why you have wheel wobble also. The front calipers have two pistons, if one is sticking it will "throw" the caliper off balance hence the wobble. If the caliper is sticking you would also get a clunking noise when turning at very slow speeds when manouvering to park etc. As for changing - I did and would not go back . But ......... I still drool at the look of an IS200/300
