  1. I'd paint 'em black. Besides whats the cost of four calipers !! Probably a deposit on a newer car with clean calipers !
  2. I think have a black one spare. Its not the fan type (just two jets) Someone sent me two when I had knackered one. Its yours if you want it and I can find it. Yep just found it - I actually have the knackered one as well. if I remember its the left jet thats not so good. Might be better than yours ? Send me a pm if you want it/them. Replacing is easy, just a credit card under the fron t and one under the back to press the clips in and it lifts out. Make sure you keep hold of the pipe though !
  3. Same here. I have been waiting for the new one to come out, and saw an ad for it last night -was off to get it today. Er - cant get it anyway, its not out till 1st Nov
  4. What do you use instead of a sponge ? I use a sponge, but a seperate one for the paintwork, and make sure there is no debris in it.
  5. Not used an auto-brush car wash for years - Did use the hand wash for a fiver, but one day some a*** scratched it presumably with a press stud on his jacket. Always wash it myself, but from next Saturday will use a co. at David Lloyd centre as my some will be doing it as a Saturday job - may be get a freebie
  6. Rodders - just seen an add in EVO mag - for Silica wheel seal - silica wheel seal - its available at Halfords so I am going to try some - I am sure it will just be similar stuff the Cockpit shine Oh yeah theres a babe on the site -Wish I could find her loose thread and pull it just a bit :D
  7. I love the wheels, they even have an M logo on them :D (so has the steering wheel and gear knob) -wish I had one on the engine I use a "printers" sponge on the wheels, its quite firm and fits perfectly in the slots. But even then it is a nightmare tryingt to clean them - if you look around most owners seem to have given it up as a lost cause.
  8. No he said it was the same as cockpit shine - and it was sticky (like a silicone spray) I used it , but I did make sure it did not go on the discs - thinking - shiney alloys would look great in a ditch Trouble is no matter what you clean your wheels with, you do not have to go far before they are dirty/dusty. What I really want is some cleaner you can spray on, then wash the rest of the car, only to find when you look back at the wheels, they are completely clean. Having many slots on these wheels takes me longer to clean them than the rest of the car. So far I havn't found anything that doesn't involve a lot of time and effort. So I tend to wash mine twice a week. I use Meguirs High Gloss Gell on the tyres (since a few recommended it on here) which looks good, you just have to make sure you dont leave to much on the tyre or it spins off onto the car.
  9. When visting the place I bought my BMW from I watched them spraying the alloys on this very nice car with an aerosol. After interegating the lad, I was told it was just "cockpit" shine and it make the alloys sparkle in the showroom. Well it made mine shiney too, so I will be using it from now on
  10. £38 is a chunk :o , but lets face it - walking in I bet you were dreading them asking for £100 or something equaly rediculous , so I supose £38 is just about acceptable.
  11. A bit strange, with a debit card the full amount is taken from the card holders (being the company) account every month. Its not a credit card, where you get a choice to pay the minimum or more. Maybe the govt retracted a payment for something that was in dispute, and the vendor has black listed you - did the statement come to your house or the govt address ? Contact the govt dept and get them to look into it, and ask who ever advised you of the problem to advise "who" has not been paid - then contact them. I think if you are black listed you will have to ask who ever has black listed you to remove you, but obvioulsy they will only do that if they get paid. And I do no think they have to. Sorry cant be much more help.
  12. Leeds - Heathrow - Leeds 440 miles Knew a guy who regularly travelled from Warsaw to Leeds in an LS400
  13. About £150 for a clutch and about the same for fitting- thats not a Lex one either - but probably as good. When I had my IS200, the clutch started slipping after a standing start against my mates 911. I lost ! Any way I almost changed it, but then it stopped slipping for a while, until another mad standing start. But then it stopped slipping again - it started again quite often, but that was probably a year later. It juddered a lot on up hill starts, which if you search other posts, is quite common.
  14. I can ! Easy :D Er but not when I had my IS200 - average was about 240 on a tank, but this was with no motorway miles.
  15. Def sounds like a new motor, I have never looked in one, but imagine its an impellor on a shaft. May be the impellor is jammed or come lose/worn off the shaft. Can it be dismantled to have a look Or is it sealed ?
  16. OK Mate - send me your add and there in the post tomoz.
  17. Found a couple of white front caliper stickers in the box of stuff emptied from the IS. Anyone want 'em ? Not got any for rears.
  18. I used to wave, but nobody did back, so stopped. Even got ignored by an LOC member who had the sticker in the back. (Presume I can still post on here - I still own an SE grill :D ) I do not wave to other BMW owners - theres freeking millions of em
  19. Been an had a drive of a 330D Sport. Very nice, but the big footrest is a bit anoying, every time you press the clutch down I find my foot obstructed - this was the only downside, other than it was silver BMW- like most 3 series BMW's. Part exchange value on mine was £5k, on a 12/99 IS200SE 94k miles FSH. (Taking offers if anyone interested) Not decided what to do yet, ofF to see another tonight, but its just not as nice to look at as an IS.
  20. That's the Air Temp sensor :winky: Is it ? I had a look at this (armed with my IPA to clean it)- it appears to be connected to something , but when you actually pull it out from inside the air box, there is just a plastic looking pointy thing (s**t description - but thats what it looks like). Eventhough it is connected to the wiring, it doesn't look like a sensor - Is this plastic thing a sensor ?
  21. Just did 1200 miles in a week in my IS, so have decided (again) to get a 330D Sport. I reckon I will save about £70 a month on fuel, and I normally only do about 800 miles a month
  22. Hey no problem, thats what this club is all about - helping each other out :) No its a normal right hand thread. The problem is that its tight to get a socket in, and slightly recessed in the pulley to get your spanner on it. Try not to totally round it, that said, whilst its a pain I removed the fans and housing, which was not to difficult and did not lose a lot of coolant when i removed the top hose to get it out. best try and get a spanner that can get in the recess before you chew it up.
