  1. WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?????????? you mean like "i don`t like my auto" jez clarkson talks poo err3 problems word association alloys bubbling-----------------REAL INTERESTING AS WELL What do you consider interesting then Mr. Interesting? Where ar your posts of extreme entertainment? Mine were 1) requests for information 2)seeing what else was amazing and wonderful in the big wide world outside of the Lexus. Its people like you with the attention span of a goldfish and the lack of constructive input, where no alternatives are ever offered just whinging criticism that make this country what it is. If you`ve got mothing better to say then don`t bother posting and the thread will die, and i`ll go somewhere else. And I don`t mean to be rude either
  2. Had an idea for an interesting thread after reading this in BusinessWeek. I`ve always thought that the world is divided into two camps............us thickies and the really really clever people who are so clever they are called Mr.Clever and live in Clever Street. So what piece of scientific stuff have you found out that just makes your jaw drop? Something that whooshes so far over your head, its flying with the jumbos? Something that is so amazing that it makes you reevaluate how pointless your own job is! Heres mine: "A tuning fork's pitch depends on the size of its tines. With really tiny tines, you can figuratively play molecular music -- as a team from the California Institute of Technology has done. Physicist Jack Ya-Tang Yang told the APS meeting that the team has weighed an extremely small mass -- just a few dozen xenon atoms -- spraying them on silicon-carbide tines a mere 100 nanometers long. The added weight noticeably slows the tines' vibrations, and the mass that was applied is then calculated from the frequency change. So how few atoms can the tuning fork weigh? About 30, or a mass of seven zeptograms (seven trillionths of a nanogram). Detecting such minuscule quantities is essential for drug research, toxin detection, and more." 3. I`m currently engaged in doing some preliminary research into the theory of modern day attitudes toward criminology, with a particular focus being on the aspects of "soft-targets" and indirect criminalisation. I think you know what i`m getting at! :D I`m after figures that reflect the ratio of speeding offences to driving population of the UK, since the introduction of the gatso, and am looking to correlate these with other figures such as murder, gun crime etc, and all the other KPI of modern societal lawlessness. I`m particularly interested in figures obtained through "sources", such as those seen by our public servant brethren !! Especially given the fact that 4 million were issued tickets last year, and the gatso has been going a while now, but obtaining data that is not conflictual is surprisingly difficult. Have alook at the current fact that speed cameras are almost viral in presence, yet road deaths have either not been significantly reduced or they are actually increasing! (is this all down to bikers coming off on country roads :winky: ?) And yes i know that technically a speeding offence is not considered a crime as such, other wise the HO would reveal that "crime" has spiralled out of control somewhat!!! :winky: Nonetheless, on a "back to basics" standpoint, the speed limit is a law instituted by elected officials, and as such breaking this law is a crime, ergo all speedsters, by definition, are criminals....plain english, minus the legalese and legal finairies, that is what the speedsters are. SO my point of the paper will be that essentially the UK has now got more convicts than Australia ever had, and that regardless of anticrime rhetoric we are now a nation of criminals. Your opinions will be welcomed, but i`m particularly after HARD DATA, because unfortunately although everybody has an opinion, The Great British Public very rarely do anything about adverse laws, and the paper will not be focussing on the usual non-productive whining, but on measured facts. We all bitch and moan about cameras etc, but in the cold light of day what exactly are YOU doing about it? :yack: Thanks for anything you can contribute.
  4. hood mounted chainguns, rocket launchers and rearward facing mortars........ one chav infested estate........... one twin turbo engine............. hopefully KITT as navigator..... Now thats a rally and i hardly ever use my rear view mirror either, but i have had some Lapchick moments.
  5. catherine bach has gone the way of Kirstie Alley and Kim Wilde............. it was very upsetting to see her recently on that Sky One greatest tv cars proggy. talk about crushing your childhood dreams and memories. i will no doubt have the same feelings in a few years when kylie minogue changes for the worst
  6. j***hmv, green, gold alloys,trim......... i fink it were a gs somefink newport pagnell, 19:30, annesley road. ok so i don`t look too much past the IS range, and don`t know all the models......... :duh:
  7. Have to agree a little ,but then i always thought ruggers was for the upper crust. :D ← you`ve not watched rugby league then? :D it should have nothing to do with class, 'cos you certainly don`t get sort of behaviour in what could be argued as the working class version of rugby. and although i`m primarily a union man, i enjoy a good league game!
  8. rugby please............. football is for overpaid ponces, who should win oscars for acting, and i`m not letting my kids watch the disgusting abuse, spite, hate and contempt that should have been stamped out of that sport years ago. it`s a shame you can`t clone the attitudes and good behavioural examples of messrs henry and lineker...........then i might be tempted to let my kids to do it. and shouldn`t chelsea be renamed vladivostock or kiev?????
  9. don`t blokes get the same effect by putting a sock down their pants?????????? i would assume it`s a similar feeling :shutit:
  10. As the sun was out couldn`t tell the colour properly, but was either silverish gold or goldish silver, reg G**AGS, model=IS, about 1.30 onSaturday30th. we drove past on the way to bowling
  11. don't doubt it m8, it is in a different league carwise. Interior and standard spec on a lex is vastly superior. But not handling wise. I've also had my mondeo for over 60k now. Hasn't been in a garage once for a problem. and you obviously had a MK3 with thw window problem. I had a MK1 from 1994, and it still handles 500% better than my lex. No two ways about it. I'll get the suspension upgraded, if that doesnt do it for me, i'll chop it in for a scooby/mitsi. ← well you know what they say, "one man's meat is another mans poison". I have driven the different models of mondeo, and personally found them soggy to drive, and part-exing the mondeo for the lex was like getting out of a fart fuelled bath and into a busty-beauty filled hottub!!!! The driving difference, let alone the quality was that different. But then although i like the stats on the scooby/mitsi they are pig ugly! And although i really like the look of the mondeo st220, i know thats how much it will be worth 2 years down the line........ £2.20. Certainly i`ve owned a number of fords from fiestas to sierras etc, and although the parts are cheap, they always broke, and sometimes in spectacular fashion. I`ll never buy ford again---i need the package my lex offers, not the one or two better things others have to offer!! :D But like i say, its a very passionate topic that people have a million different opinions on
  12. i`m 6ft, plenty of headroom, but my kness were jammed up in the drivers seat and the passengers seat both when somenbody who was about 5,10 was in the rear----we couldn`t beleive it as apparently its got the same wheelbase length as a freelander!! And have you seen it next to a proper mini? :D Still, don`t suppose calling it a maxi would have been a good idea!!
  13. quite................had a new mondeo and the only thing that was better was the boot space. Everything else, unmodded to unmodded, is like comparing a spoon to a knife. The lex is in a different league, and so far hasn`t been in the workshop with anything like the regularity of the mondeo, which blew an engine at 21000!!!! And it always sounded like you were driving with the window open. Yes if i had a wish it would be for a twin turbo IS, looking like s*x on a stick, but for the price i`ve yet to see a car distinctive enough or worthy enough. And i`ve been in mini cooper, and considering its external size its like an anti-tardis!!!
  14. oh hush, stop the sarcasm and then move it for me-------------we all make mistakes!!!!! Especially you Mr Singh----don`t forget i know where you live };) lol
  15. Quick question out to all those in LOC land. Is anybody involved with solarpanels, self-sufficiency, timber housing/construction, sustainability etc? you know, all the hippy stuff? and yes i know the irony of driving a not very fuel efficient car!! in all seriousness though, looking to network, conceptualise, business growth etc
  16. welcome, and don`t listen to any of this lot----i only came on to save money off servicing and now i`m modding my car and steaming around in LOC members supercharged versions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :duh: :D :winky: im still smiling though and this lot are very helpful, but have zero self control :D
  17. unfortunately the RAF hasn`t changed much then; they are geared toward married in family quarters, the old traditional way. I seem to remember a similar case to this a few years ago being on local telly, but they fobbed the outcome, so can`t help you there. In all honesty i think you`re going to have to bite the sh**ty one on this, as its a massive obstacle to turnaround, and i would think you need to way carefully the ramifications 'bucking the system' has on your career, unless you can network with other people with similar circumstances.............and we both know what the services think of 'unions'..... don`t suppose a russian mail order bride would help . Sorry its not legal help, but just make sure you`ve covered all legitimate angles, not sure what rank you are btw, but how far up the c.o.c. have you actually gone? its a shame this is happening to you, i have fond memories of that base---i was born there when my dad was in the RAF!
  18. 230......................... and if you don`t get that your car must be gay pyschological challenges means that he now has to go above you lot!!!!!! MWUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA
