i absolutely cannot stand lane hogging. out of everything it drives me nuts. it does not follow the highway code, and it should be dwdc&a, as these people are obviously not aware of what they are doing, and ergo not in control. i`ve often wanted to put a big sign in the side window saying "move over *****" or "what exactly are you overtaking richardhead?". it`s often struck me when viewing long lines of traffic, how much faster we`d all move if people kept lane discipline. Also it would prevent people like me undertaking, or flashing or doing aggressive driving. I know SF would probably arrest me on the spot, but unfortunately these people are never, ever, ever told off. i`m getting stressed thinking about it :shutit:

I think that it would be useful for everyone in this debate to have a reread of all the posts in this thread and look at them objectively. What we have here is the classic case of irritation triggering a defensive posture which then develops into a high handed approach, which then sets evrybody else off and manages to completely ignore the one or two helpful suggestions that people seem to mention. Personally i would suggest that it is not that it gets done as per "T and C", but that some people don`t think of how people will react b4 they post! And SF, i agree to what you say but i think the consideration is that "authority" tends to ride roughshod over people. I fully support and thank the police/moderators for the job they do, but its always, always "tone" thats winds people up and sets them off against each other, and i think that on rereading all those posts everybody`s tone sucks. What does the Joker say in Batman? "why can`t we all just get along?" what do you reckon? :D

surely instead of everybody getting really precious about things it would be far easier to put: "do not post any replies to this thread" or have some sort of non-postable noticeboard type thingy, especially given that this chappie went thru the moderators to make sure he was bona fide. it just all boils down to if there is no communication then people do`nt know what they`ve done wrong that`s all! :)

ah the usual its not me or my car arguments! power to weight ratio of large cars causing excessive consumption? global warming will always be an issue.....where exactly do people think all that burnt fossil fuel exhaust is going? Fairy lal la land? developed world "breeding" is actually falling, we`re just not dying like we used too! Fish is not "farmed" other livestock is, but this like all the rest is not related to the suv. What is of importance, as to most things, is appropriateness. As i mentioned earlier SUVs on the uk roads are inappropriate. They are appropriate to farmers or resuce workers. If all the SUVs in the states were just "normal" car types, the resultant oil usage due to the decrease in weight/power has been calculated in the million barrel range!! And regardless or whether i or anybody is more or less to blame because of the size/efficiency of the vehicles they drive is a moot point. In the cold light of day an SUV is more dangerous and less efficient than a car. Full stop. It does not then neccessarily follow that all the worlds evils are the fault of SUV drivers, as we`re all culpable. Nonetheless in todays society where status and image, branding and celebrity are the be all and end all of existence seemingly cars of this nature are a status symbol. I could go on and on and end up at the meaning of life, but the oil is going to run out in 15years anyway so none of this will matter!!!

but strangely related. i used to work for a h/w s/w support company that dealt with a very large brwery in the uk, and in a similar vein to charging for unneccessary work or charging 10p on the pound, all their pubs were instructed to get 110% out of a barrel. Of course when watchdog et al got wind of this the muck hit the fan!!! Just goes to show how badly needed is ethical and corporate govenance laws that don`t fleece the consumer!! I think those dealer/health pills/garage etc adverts that ask you about the security of your money are more relevant nowadays than ever they were!! Keep yours eyes open and your wallets guarded!!

yep AVG "free edition" on both networked pcs. does the job well and i`ve had no nasty rashes, and i do lots of potentially virus ridden stuff..............

To be honest, i took a different view from that feature. Firstly how shocking a crash actually is. I agree that the 10 yr old car didn`t make for a good example, but then there are 10 yr old cars out there, and as the presenter and sfaety guy said air bags and a reinforced frame would not have made a whole lot of difference! Sensationalist tv? Possibly.....But then it does happen, 4x4s do rollover, little cars do get absolutely crushed by bigger vehicles. Will new legislation help? Yes. As for the issue of 4x4s that is a whole separate debate, especially given that at least all the other cars mentioned are designed for road use! Everybody knows suvs are a p*nis thing, they use far too much fuel, have similar interior space to a peeps carrier or estate, and will possibly never see a muddy track. In the states with its VAST open spaces you could possibly say they are ok, but in the cobbled streets of old london town? I don`t think the phantom raspberry blower had those in mind!!! I certainly will now be far more aware of side-approaches of any vehicle, as well as how violent a crash actually is---that sort of thing needs to be in the driving lessons!

when you clean it once a week - spend an extra 45 minutes putting on a layer on SG. apply it nice and thin - the merest whisper of a suggestion of product, and polish it off. leave for a week to cure. repeat. you'll see a difference in two weeks - and will thank us after a month. just 1 - do a bloody good clean first - clay, polish etc. 2 - dont wax until you are happy you dont want to apply any more glaze 3 - dont polish - as this will take you back to stage 1. A simple, gentle wash and dry is all that is needed I love it - gives a beautiful depth of shine ← so you just leave the glaze on with nothing else, then drive around for a week, then give it another gentle wash, apply another layer of SG, drive around for a week (or 24hrs) etc, then go to the p21s stage? Just checking---its complicated stuff this, worse than string theory :duh:

In a whining tone: "but i don`t wanna spend all my time cleaning, waxing polishing my car"...................oops to late, i`m already washing it at least once a week, and people are beginning to stare......... i`ll have to get some of that glaze and spritz stuff though, and probably some more Klasse aio as i find i`m using it to clean all the ruddy windows in the house, let alone the car!!! i`m going to have to divide my time up between studying, kids, pc games, car, watching tv, surfing etc but i`m just plain running out of hours!!!!! :shutit:

Good lord, are you serious? Either your motor now weighs 5 tons, or it is so aerodynamically slippery wind just does not get a purchase? Seriously though, i assume you wash the car before every sealant application with a gentle shampoo? And what happens if you get a scratch, do you have to build it up again? I would never have the patience to do all that........ :duh:

to be honest i enjoy TG and think JC is a funny guy---he`s got some really good descriptives in his vocab, and he talks like this................(yeah we`re all doing the impression now, but you try typing it!) nonetheless i get very defensive over Lexus, and the guy can be a bit of a richard at times, after all he doesn`t like bikes! what is a shame is that people religiously adhere to his comments as gospel, and don`t independantly verify! you know better, i know better, let the other people go with their misconceptions. After all when we`re all dead, squillionaires or all the oil runs out what ruddy difference will it all make :D ???
