  1. Hi I get quite a bit of attention from my IS200 Sport. It is in mint condition if I may say so not a scratch on her including the wheels. All I have changed is the front bumper to a TTE one and a private no. plate. I part the car off-street near the station when travelling to work. My mate who lives near the station passes the car every morning and notices the other people walking to the station, taking a good look and still looking when they are 2-3 cars ahead. I think its the bumper which makes the car look like a beast.
  2. Hello fello Lexus owners. Just a quick question, I have a Trust Greedy air filter, replacement for the standard one, just like the K&N one but yellow. Anyway what type of oil can I use to iol it after its been washed? :duh:
  3. You've got the bumper with the pre-cut washer holes if you've got one of the newer ones. Mine is an earlier one without the holes - his argument was that although you can cut them out, it won't sit perfectly as it was never properly designed for it (despite the markings on the back). It was a choice I made, as I'm not really bothered about them anyway. Sorry I don't think I was very clear with what I said about point 3 What I meant was, that if the headlights are on, and you wash the windscreen, the first time you do this it also activates the headlight washers. I hated this as it just sprays water all over the bonnet. Yep there is the separate switch, but if the lights are on, it does this automatically. Mine's a 2002 car, but I'm pretty sure they all do it :) Thats really weird, mine does not spray the lights if I spray the windscreen with the lights on. Maybe I have a fault, a fault I guess I can live with. :o
  4. Hi fellas just thought I'd let you know a fact or two on my car (2001 Sport), as I have the 2005 TTE bumper bought from Ebay brand new factory painted 1C0 for £230 1 year ago, from a chap who sold his car and never put the bumper on. I won it as it was collection only and he lived near me. Anway:- point 1 - The washer sit perfectly with no issue. cannot see why bodyshop guy made that comment. point 2 - personal choice. point 3 - I have a seperate switch to let the light washers go on. Lights do not have to be on and they definatley do not go on when the windscreen washer is used. The switch to control the light washers is next to the switch that controls the angel of the lights. What year is your car.
  5. Come on fellas, surley theres someone who can answer the above.
  6. Hi all, My passenger side frint light keeps on steaming up. I have taken the light out countless amounts of time and sealed it all round. Never messed around with the breathing sponges located at the back. (2 approx, 1 at top and one in the corner) Aslo never covered the breathing slots at the side and bottom, near the indicator. What can it be, should I just buy a new one, how much are they, and wheres the cheapest place to get them. It has annoyed me for a while every morning or after the car has been used in the night, I have to check the front to see if it steamed, it really fustrates me, as you could imagine. :tsktsk: Your help will be much appreciated. TKS
  7. Hi all, I had the issue were my IS200 Sport was only giving me 250 miles to a full tank, instead of 300-350 miles. Turned out to be the plugs, which were NGK iridium ones part no. IRFE.... They are supposed to last 50000 thousand miles, I only had them in the car for 20000 miles. Anyway got some Denso IK20's and the car now gives me 350 miles to the full tank. Driving is mixed urban mainly with a heavy foot at times. :D
  8. Hi all, Just after some advise. Can I use Denso Ik20 instead of SK20 on my car. There are no mods to the engine. Forgot to mention Jap parts told me that I require SK20RP11, I checked the Denso web site and these are for an IS300. But the IK20's can be used on both the IS200 & IS300. Are SK20RP11 compatilbe as well?
  9. Hi all, Just wondering if anyone has tried a product called "Catclean", which cleans out the whole fule system down to the 02 sensors on the cat. Website is www.catclean.com. I have also noticed a full tank of petrol giving me 250 miles on my IS200, rather than 320 -350 2 months ago. I have no lights coming on the dash. Cheers.
  10. Hi all, I have a noise on the brakes which seems to come from the front passenger side. Whenever I reverse and press the brakes the noise appears, as if something is moving and hitting a point. I have had new discs, pads, springs to hold pads and shims, which have been greased thoroughly. Any ideas what it could be, your help would me much appreciated.
  11. Hi all, Just thought i'd comment on the sterling customer care that A plan gave me and of course the quote. I was paying £700, the renewal was £800, no claims what so ever with 2 yrs NCB. A-Plan quoted me £499 what a difference. So the moral of the story is to try A-Plan after you've got the best quote and they will always beat it. Thanks A-Plan. :D
  12. So which one is better, Denso or NGK? Sorry di not read the rest of the thread before placing comment. I have a Standard IS200 Sport, I guess I will go for the Denso IK20's. Cheers.
  13. So which one is better, Denso or NGK?
  14. Hi all, I had the dreaded clutch judder on my car recently. The clutch was changed 6 months ago, it was an ADL clutch, I also replaced the fork as it was worn. It was great for 6 months and then hey, without any warning it started to judder (not badly but noticable to the passenger). I do a fair bit of milage, as I drive it to work and can sometimes be in traffic, no heavy though. Anyway I had read all the previous post regarding this issue. You could either change the flywheel and the clutch for a better one i.e helix etc, or you could do what I did while experimenting in traffic. I turned the traction control off and the judders went, I could not believe it, the takeoff was better than before the judder started and seemed more precise with the bitting point (very smooth no jult). This is how I will drive may car from now on, without the traction. Guess the traction control is stopping the car from taking off normally, hence the dreaded judder after a couple of months. Just need to be sensible round corners, at least it has a LSD to help. Also tried takeoff in snow mode and that also helps by stopping you from reving the car in traffic. Just thought i'd pass this on to you guys incase anyone else has this issue, try it. :D
  15. Hi, How about "pursuing & perfecting motion"
  16. Did Lexus do 2 blues in the IS because some say royal blue and some saphire? many thanks Craig Yup its strathorm or stratcorn blue and saphire blue.
  17. Main reason was just to cover that its a V plate. Its like a new car. they do age well dont they. :P I spose I should be proud that its in such good nick for a V plate. Anyway does anyone know why so many Lexi have private plates? Hi, Exactly what you said above, the car ages very well and do not look like the year of manufacture. Thats the reason I got my plate for my 2001 model. All my friends said it looked brand new, although it took me 8 months to find the car.
  18. :D Hi all, Just got my geomtry done the other day by the legendary Tony Bones at STS Watford. The geo was slightly out when the check was done, I noticed the car dragged a bit on take-off, compared to say 1 year ago. Anyway what a GREAT result, the car feels better and does not drag (front wheels no longer fight). I did'nt think I would notice the difference. many thanks again to Tony Bones (Wheels in motion). See you in a couple of months for the fine tune. :D
  19. Hi all, I had a scrappiing noise only when I truned left. I thought it was to do with the pads or clips, so I changed them and the noise was still there. I then changed the front discs and the noise was still there, I then changed the lower ball joints and guess what the noise was still there. By now I was very pi :tsktsk: ed off. I then took the car to my mates garage, he took it for a spin after I told him of the symptons. He told me the noise is coming from the back wheels. He put it on a ramp and insepected i.e play due to bearings etc.. nothing found. He then took the wheel off and inspected the brakes calipers etc.. nothing found. He then took off the disc and inspected the handbrake shoes and surroundings. He then pointed out to me where the noise was coming from. Basically the handbrake shoes are covered partly by the discs that sit on the cover/plate which seals the handbrake shoes. the disc spins when the wheels turn but the other part on the hub does not. there was a 2 inch graze on the lip where it joins with the disk. The inside of the disc also had the graze but all the way round as the disc turns. This was caused by my local garage who forced the old discs out when they were replaced with new ones. They should have used screws to prize it out rather than forcing it out by jabbing the disc out with a screw driver. The evidence was also there with the scratch marks created. Anyway the plate on the hub was bent, hence the scrapping noise when I turn left due to the weight load on the back right wheel. My friend rectified the issue by grinding the plate to make it smooth and pay tapping the palte back. I am really pleased the issue is resolved the noise was really anoying me for 2 months, I'm not fussed aboout the money I spent to recitify the cause, at least I will not have to change those parts for a while. Just thought I'd post this as some other LOC members may be experiencing the same issue. :)
  20. Hi all, I wanted to get any plate no. to disguise the year of my IS200 Sport, as it looks a lot newer than 2001. Anyway I bought L3 USX for £250. What do you guys think? I was thinking of L200 DRP, but I don't think it will sell when then time comes compared to L3 USX. :)
  21. Got ya, thanks for the advise. Are you also saying that the tie rods should be changed?
  22. Hi, the car has done 78,000 and these ball joints were never changed at 40,000 either. I was told they will cost approx £40-50 each but I guess as he is an x employee he can get them cheaper. Best place is to buy them from Lexus (origional), Unless anyone else would like to make a comment.
