  1. Bit of late night you had then... your door speaker install is exactly like what oxford audio done for me..

BTW did ya lady contact that smoking place i gave you the details off.

Once you've done it once its easy (the installers have a good deal going), the first door took almost all the time, the second door took about 10 minutes from start to finish. Decided to give it a go myself, will be doing some more tonight hopefully.

I told my girlfriend about the smoking thing but at the moment she has been without for 3 weeks now without trying it, she will give it a go if she starts again this time.

  2. Picture speaks a thousand words Kieran.... :)

    Got any?

Was planning on pictures but got a bit :tsktsk: after the first hour, ended up taking door apart and putting it back together about 5 times before getting it right. The last time I thought I had everything ok, went out in the car, got to the security barrier, pressed window down button, wait for a while, loud crunch (whoops - window hit the crossover), took door apart again, moved crossover reassembled.

  3. My new front speakers arrived yesterday, started fitting at 10pm, finished at 4am.

Took ages to install them properly, its worked out very well though (slight problem with tweeter though but nothing serious). Summary of special bits:

    1. door looks standard from inside the car (cannot see changes in speaker)

    2. inside is uncluttered, crossover and wires are all inside the door frame itself

    3. original speaker basket is still there, with rivets in place (no drilling out!)

  4. Wish i could change the AudioBahn kit for something else (bit of a mistake buying it I think) but will stick with it for now.

Why the regret over the AudioBahn kit Kieran?

don't think its really up to the quality of the other bits of kit waiting to be fitted. will see once its all fitted but i won't be changing it for a while anyway

  5. Spot on Fargo, I had mine whole install done there, in fact it's going back for more, they took 2 days just to add the sound deadening to the car, it appears to be everywhere, I had brown bread then dynamat extreme over the top of it!! rolls and rolls of the stuff, every bit of the car appears to be done, and I can deffinitely say that there are NO reverberations on the car anywhere.

    Si

Beginning to look like my 15 rolls is not enough (maybe just do the boot), I've got some dynamat spray too. I think I'll order some dynamat to go over the top so I'll have brown bread then spray to make it flat, then dynamat on the top to make it look nice. I'll try brown bread and spray for now and then see how it goes.

Wish i could change the AudioBahn kit for something else (bit of a mistake buying it I think) but will stick with it for now.

  6. Be careful if you add Brown Bread (or any other sound deadening material) to your car. Started to do the boot today, first roll did without gloves and have 11 aliminium cuts (like paper cuts but more painful)! Done 6 rolls now, very, very hard work, takes ages and its really hard to get in to all the places. I've no idea how do the bit on the left side between the outside body panel and inside.

Simply answer....get someone else to do it, ;) ,, i just got mu fron doors done at Oxford Audio..

can't make the time to get it done professionally (use the car every day for getting to / from work and really busy at the moment so don't have the time to take it to oxford). going to carry on doing a bit every day.

  8. Hi All,

Thinking of getting out of the Rat race and being paid to drive wealthy people around the country/world in a Lexus.

I have been thinking real hard about what I enjoy. and I enjoy driving a lexus. so why not get directly paid for it?

Does anyone know anything about setting up a chauffeur business? (apart from spelling it correctly..)?

I thought about getting some folding flyers done and some image based business cards. I'd need to invoice about £4k a month to get buy but I think its doable. I reckon the only downside is that I would be better off with a car with Sat nav. and maybe an LS400. But I want to dip a toe in the water. If I can make it pay part time then I would look ot increase it to full. I reckon Airport runs, mobile business meetings and shopping trips would be the earners. I would like a buisness suite in the back so they have blue tooth access to the phone network for calls or internet access. maybe even a laptop in the back provided for them. refreshments in the boot mounted fridge. selection of daily broadsheets.

What do you think? could I make a living from driving well heeled folk around? Its been my backup plan since I was 16. Maybe its time to just do it!

go for the easy option, tint the windows and become a pimp

  9. I used to have judder problems, got an uprated clutch (Helix) and flywheel (Jun) fitted yesterday.

    Everything is good now:

engine starts more quickly due to light weight of flywheel

    judder has gone

clutch pedal is lighter but more positive

    well worth the money

  10. I was chatting to TonyGoose about this earlier today. If you take both wheels off and the saddle off it should fit in. You have lower it into the boot at a certain angle but mine went in fine.

good point - saddle has to come off as well

  11. Did you boys point out that the radio code is required if you disconect the battery. this can only be done by dealer (yeah right) and the cost is about £40 and only when the "trouble shooter" is there...

That was how I met my last girl friend,c ome to think of it...
