  1. Apparently (so the story goes in another paper), they had actually requested a motorcycle police escort, but when the bike cops didn't arrive on time, they left without them. When you ride a bike, you get used to being pulled over
  2. Happy birthday - hope you had a great day :) What pressies did ya get? Anything for the car? :P
  3. That's awful news :( And it's not just people reversing. There was a case of a little boy playing in his parents car on the driveway. He managed to release the handbrake and the car rolled backwards, killing another child playing behind the car.
  4. Hey Steve - how about an LOC Calendar for 2004 ? (Excellent Xmas pressies!) :winky:
  5. You mean that ISN'T normal...??? :winky:
  6. Suppose you could buy a cheap pay-as-u-go phone and conceal it under the dash, and wire it in via the cigar lighter circuit so it stays charged? :)
  7. Got a handful of the TeamLexus cards at JAE and have used all except one. Last one was put on a blue IS300 in Shoreham High St. No bites so far by the look of it. Even found one screwed up on the ground where the car was, when I walked by 20 mins later. Some people...
  8. The horizontal cargo net attaches to four little hooks in the floor of the boot. From the pictures it looks like the boot liner covers up these hooks
  9. Brave of you to venture on to the A27 near Worthing at 8:30 in the morning - that road is a nightmare! When I work in Portsmouth I have to go that way & it takes the best part of 25 minutes to do the 3 or 4 miles thru Worthing :( Followed an X-Reg Granite Sky IS200 doing 90+ along the A27 eastwards towards Brighton on Wednesday. He/she pulled over to let me past, but I just tucked in behind.... then they sped off!
  10. Good idea for muddy wellies etc., but it prevents you from using cargo nets :(
  11. He may be an entertainer, but you could question anyone fasting for a period of time purely as a publicity stunt (for which he'll be handsomely rewarded), while there's millions starving - who don't have a choice. And to put it into context, his "feats of endurance" don't look so great when compared to some of the rituals undertaken by eastern religous types... one tibetan ritual involves not being allowed to lie down for three years! :o
  12. The IS200's also got DVD based satnav from late 2001. I'd guess that CD updates will still be available for the CD systems for a good few years yet.
  13. I regularly get 350 miles to a tankful, and got just over 400 miles on a tankful when going to JAE and back. My 2002 IS200SE Auto Nav also used to do at least 350 miles to a tank. Getting just 280 miles seems really low :o
  14. You can't keep a good man (and his Sherbet Fountain) down! :winky:
  15. Hmmm, the IS300 is nowhere near as much faun as my 200SX was... AND the Nissan had 11bhp less! (but bags more torque) :winky:
  16. Robin Mental age somewhere in the 30's, physical age somewhere in my 40's Born in Altringham, but mostly living near Brighton with all them softy sutheners Own house, no kids & single but spoken for by the bemused gal I dragged up to JAE this year A systems designer & project consultant for IBM On my second IS - yes I was the one who bought the IS300! Passtimes are real ale pubs (although strangely I'm not a beardy with a large belly) and motorbikes Claim to fame - I bungey jumped before it was trendy :winky: Mod money - sports grille, parking sensors (yawn) & front tints from new, would go for more power if it didn't scr€w the warranty
  17. Tell me this is a custom paint job requested by an owner with seriously impaired taste, and not an option being offered by Hyundai...? :o
  18. Only 1 IS300 so far.... and only one other LOC member I know of in Sussex.... Queue deserted western town. Queue saloon bar door swinging in the wind. Queue tumbleweed blowing past. :winky:
  19. Tell me about parking in Tesco :( The car is just a few weeks old, I park in Tesco's car park away from anyone else. 20 mins later, a large ding in my door & some red paint. Cost £70 to get fixed. So...... Bought a 1991 Astra 1.4L from a mate who'd had it from new. Cost me £200 & it has a years tax & M.O.T.... and a sunroof! Now if I go into Brighton & park in a multi-storey or go to Tesco, I leave the Lex tucked up in the garage & take the Astra! At £70 a dent, I reckon this car paid for itself in 3 weeks! :o
  20. They say it's easier to get forgiveness than get permission! :winky: Good idea about the "Was it you?" forum tho - so long as people don't quote exact number plates, then we should be safe :winky:
  21. Spot on - had forgotten about the Altezza! There's a thread here started by Mat. If you're interested in the Altezza route, I'm sure he'll be able to help somehow as there's some stunning cars coming thru the auctions :)
  22. Bah, these IS300 owners reckon they own the road! Maybe it was one of the old boys who normally valet the cars, delivering it to it's rightful owner (some even older gimp!) :winky:
  23. Yup the satnav was CD based up to late 2000, then DVD based from there on. The DVD based system has a few more features and obviously covers a much wider area (like most of Europe), but the basics of the two systems are about the same. The cost of the satnav new is around £2,400 so expect it to hike the price an extra grand or thereabouts, on a 2-3yr old car. Can't say I've seen many other satnav units, but the Lexus one is reckoned to be one of the best available (shame it can't be retro-fitted). To be honest tho, unless you're a travelling salesman, I'd go for an IS without satnav and spend the extra on a lower mileage/younger model (or a few mods after getting it!) :winky:
  24. Followed a very handsome W-reg dark metallic green SC300 (Soarer?) with gold badges this morning. He wafted round the Shoreham roundabout and off up the slip-road on to the flyover towards Brighton. I kept a respectful distance behind - and I was on the bike! Anyway, very nice looking car - if you're a member here, then hi! Pictures don't do 'em justice - they look the poodles plums in the flesh!
